  • I am cosplaying a character that is a lighter skin tone than me, do you recommend that i do this but with all lighter shades or do this, then apply lighter on top, and also do you recommend making any shown skin pale or just leaving it to my face? thank you

  • @ChatoicGoddess How much lighter are we talking about? Like from a NC30 to NC25? Or more like NC30 to NC10? General rule is only to go two shades of foundation lighter, any lighter and it will longer too unnatural. If you are only going alittle lighter, before doing all the steps use a lavender based foundation primer to color correct your skin tone to be whiter, then proceed with rest of tutorial. Lastly use lighter color foundation powder on top after doing all steps.

  • my skin is usually so i dry i have to put lotion on twice

  • This tutorial is amazing! However, I have a question. >= My acne is extremely annoying and peppers itself on my neck and chest. How would I go about covering that up? Would I use the same exact thing, or perhaps change the color of the concealer a bit? I'm also worrying a lot about the amount I would have to use. This stuff tends to get expensive to use if I end up using it on my neck and chest as well every time I cosplay. >=

  • Great Tutorial! Do you have one on how to get the white vampire anime skin for the face! NOT bright white but a suttle white? I don't know what products to use and how to apply correctly. =( I have SAKURA-CON coming up and I'm a character from Angel Sanctuary so I need white fair looking skin but my skin is your color. Help please??? Sakura Con is April! Can you do a tutorial for me as a request?

  • OMG i'm going to sakuracon too!

I'll be going fri&sat for sure, but im not completely sure 'bout sunday. I'll be the midget edward elric(wearing REAL leather pants) or a midget Soubi Agatsuma. Look for me?

  • OMG EDWARD 8)

  • There's a place called Make up store, but I don't know if it exists outside sweden... :/ they have good pale makup

  • Cool hair! Btw, I do children's shows from time to time and when on stage, my skin has to be flawless too. If you really wanna go easy, you can buy stage make-up. It's applied with a wet spunge, and not really good for your skin. But guaranteed, you see nothing. No wrinkles, freckles, acne.. Gotta practice with it a bit though. You should find your matching colour. And afterwards apply a bit of reflecting powder and blush to look more natural.

    Thnx for uploading!:)

  • Awesome tutorial. And I love you hair!

  • hi ~ i have a wound on my face .. i kinda small .. do u know how to cover it up ~? :3

    HELP! DX

  • dude, ur hair is beast mode XD

    love it!

  • I naturally sweat alot because of my high body heat temperature... and I was wondering if the make-up would wash off because of my sweat ... o.O

I was planning on cosplaying and I need to get that perfect anime skin look :P

  • If you wear translucent powder over your make-up and reapply it occasionally, then the make-up wont be washed off by your sweat. I wear a crap load of it whenever I am in a play, because being in some of those costumes and under those stage lights is like the inferno of hell has been contained in one room.

  • ahhhh this is utada hikaru frome kingdom hearts song i love itt =]

  • lol i like how you look at yourself in the mirror and smile... : }

  • Thank you verry much for this vid <3

  • Girl, you are beautiful even with the scars showing.

Everyone has battle scars from life, you just have yours on the outsde for everyone to see what you've survived. =]

  • Really Cool tutorial!

    I love your haircolor |D

  • Cool~! Ill try this, thanks for uploading such a great and helpful vid...!<3333

  • luv ur hair!

  • Thank you so much for doing a tutorial like this. I have many horrible, dark scars on my face. Now I can try to cosplay without shame. Thank you.

  • Hey thank you for this tutorial, I'm new to the cosplay world, and this was super helpful. Seeing as how I have only ever worn stage make up, but I do have a question for you; I have oily skin should I still use moisturizer, and are there any foundations for those of us with oily skin? Thank you and great job on this tutorial!

  • This is pretty awesome, thanks for the upload!

  • Thank you very much. I can finally hide my scars and other discolorations! I have lots of freckless and this hid them perfectly! Thank you!

  • awsome thank u ^^

  • I've got very fair white skin and pore putty does wonders for under eye circles. Good tut!

  • Really? The Pore Putty can cover up under eye circles? Just how dark are yours?

(Dark circles are what keep me from cosplaying a lot.)

  • omg this was great.

finally a video thatactually shows me how to hide all my scaring. thanks.

  • ur hair always looks epic

  • awesome helped alot im cosplaying miku :3 but i only have a couple acne scars on my forehead

  • thank you so much! im planning on cosplaying for the first time soon and i think this will help me a lot :) and your hair is amazing

  • x3 Awesome.

Has anyone told you, you would make one hell of a Sasuke? I think it has something to do with that, "Yeah, I know I look good," look. :'D

    (: Anywho, great tutorial!

  • Wouldn't my face be a lighter color than my neck? ._.;

Besides that one question, I <3 your tutorial :]

  • @OhEmGawd that's why you bring foundation down to your neck and blend it in. i use a foundation slightly lighter than my skin and that's what i do.

  • the song is by utada hikaru the theme song of kingdom hearts

  • I have eczema too, I hate it :/

  • Great video, thanks :P

And by the way, I admire your hair :P

    Keep it up ^^

  • Btw, what song is playing in the first part of the video?

  • Utada Hikaru - Simple and Clean -PLANITb Remix-

  • It's Simple and Clean by Utada Hikaru

  • Great video!! I'll be using this for my next cosplays ^o^!!!

  • i love your hair. <3

  • I really adore your hair! It's so cool!

    And really good tutorial too!

  • Would you recamend make-up that is a little lighter than your skin tone, because it looks like you use a lot.

  • WOW! I can't believe how well the zit scars are covered up! I'm so trying this!

  • Your tutorials are great and I love your hair ^__^

  • I love your tutorials!!! They have helped me so much! I use this for my every day make up as well especially when I have acne outbreaks!

Thanks so much for posting! :3

  • This might be off subject but, your hair is awsome *thumbs up*

  • this tutorial is GREAT :D

I'm using diff. brands but the style of application really hlped me on my zexion cosplay, I covered ALL of my freckles and it didn't even really look like I had caked on makeup.

  • i really like your hair!!

  • Ah, eczema. Don't you love it?

    I adore your hair!

  • Wow! good tutorial. I love your hair!! lol I'm doing mine similar to that rite now (blue and green) btw I jst thnk ur so pretty! lol U dnt even need make up girl! :) compared to me you are beautiful cuz I have way worse scars from chiken pox and what not D: anywho, good tutorial and keep up the good work!!!

  • Thank you so much for this! I have a con next week, and I just broke out all over my chin. This is going to help so much with my cosplay! Thank you again!

  • I am curious as to where you get these brands that you used? I haven't heard of them.... >.> Or brands similar? And what are the cosst range?

  • I totally know the first song but i don't know where from lol.

  • its a remix of "simple and clean" from kingdom hearts :)

  • Kingdom Hearts

  • you are like a good make up artist

  • chesshire cat hair!

  • what is this song??

  • the first one is simple and clean- hikaru utada

  • God your hair is just pure awesomeness.

;D Ah man! I needed this. Thanks soo much.

This'll help me with my Megurine Luka cosplay. fff. <3

You're so awesome for making this.

  • Where did you buy the kryolan powder? Online? I need a good, strong, nearly industrial setter for my newest character so that even rubbing doesn't take the makeup off. XD

Awesome tutorials, girl! You've definitely helped a LOT of people.

  • I bought it from ebay but honestly the ABSOLUTE BEST setter I used ever was Ben Nye Final Seal. It's a spray seal that makes even creme make up stay for days until you rub it off in a hot shower with lots of soap.

  • 0.0" XD WOW! That's gotta be cool! You'd have to have a versitile look that could apply to all of the chars you chose to cosplay as that weekend!

  • WOW!

  • Thank you so much for this. I suffer from acne scars as well, and I could never figure out how to cover them up right, until I watched this. It was very helpful, thank you so much! :3

  • Great tutorial ^^ this is gonna be a great help for me and a few friends, so thankyou!

  • I love your hair!

  • I'm very sorry if this might have been asked already (cuz I can't read more comments anymore, I'm using Internet on limited time) so here:

What do you mean by 2 different types of concealers??? Um~ Is it 2 different brands or shades or what??? Plz specify and plz be patient with me. I really want to learn more bout make-up application...

  • umm thats was great :3

you think this can cover up my freckles?

  • you have amazing hair.

  • Thank you!!!!!!! I really needed to see that!!! :D

  • ;D aww!! you have the cutest face on earth xDDD! not kidding! your super kawaii ;3!!

  • i've been cosplaying for a while but i never bothered with make-up unless it is crutial to the character. this next cosplay i am doing i want to look amazing, so i've decided to start with make-up tutorials. i never wear make-up except speacial occations, so this is really new for me. i dont have a lot of money to spend either, so i was wondering if you could get make-up like yours at a place like target or wal-mart?

  • Ummmm...I usually spend my money on department store brand make up (Sephora, MAC, etc...). Since my experience with the drugstore brand make up is that price really does determine quality plus department store make up you can try before you buy as well as return if you are not happy. Yes you can use cheaper makeup but understand they probably won't do as good of a job.

  • I LUV YOUR HAIR plus i do not think you have that bad of skin you could even hardly tell before you started putting makeup on

  • how do you make videos like tht ????? btw thanks :) x

  • where can you get this stuff?

  • I got most of the stuff from when I go back to Asia so I'm guessing that not an option for you. You can try looking for them if you have a asian market nearby that sells imported make up. Ebay also sell all the make up I use from importing sellers.

  • really good tutorial ^^ thank you! <3 what about a tutorial of your hair??:DD just joking, but i really liked it xD

  • hello like your vid, great to use for reference so did you take pictures of your finish work can you make a vid of that too. dig your hair style too

  • wow! thank you so much!!! and your hair is awsome!! ^^

  • Did you bleach your hair to do that? How'd you separate the colors? :o I want hair like yours! Plus, your tutorials are godly. Keep 'em coming!!

  • Yes I always have to bleach my hair before I dye it brighter colors. I just seperate the colors by using clips when I'm dyeing my hair and use tape to mask the areas for places I want stripes.

  • cool guide

  • Thank you your video was extremely helpful and as everyone else has mentioned your hair is very beautiful.

  • i have eczema too....i feel your pain :( ....but your are stunning!!! :D and i love your hair!! it reminds me of cotton candy!!! x3

  • Wow this was really helpfull.

I have a lot of freckles that bunch up really badly on my face and nothing has fully covered them up.

    I can't wait to give this a try. ^^

  • this video was really helpful! btw which moisturizer did you use? i need one that works but is not to expensive

  • Ummm I use a prescription moisturizer for my eczema from my doctor, so i really don't know XD!

  • Thank you SO much.

I had terrible confidence issues when it came to skin with cosplays - I've been cursed with acne and scars and just like many others, acne meds and all those prescriptions weren't worth squat. You definitely helped me out here. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :] :: subscribes ::

    I WANT YOUR HAIR. Dx

  • Now, what about if you have splotches on the neck area? Would this be the same as applying the makeup to your face?

  • Yup it would be the same.

  • This was extremely helpful! It's a fantastic tutorial and I have to say that I agree with the majority--I love your hair!

  • Where do you buy this makeup?

  • wicked awesome hair!! er...and don't take this offensively, but i can't tell your gender...sorry...i'm sitting here for the whole, nearly 10 mins, asking myself...really cute guy...or really cute chick...?and i've yet to reach a conclusion...

  • ^^;; Don't worry I get that alot in real life actually, but I'm a girl...

  • i love your hair

  • i must say i absolutely adore yur hair XD

  • dont you use stuff before to smooth your skin?? like serum stuff thats meant to be good? i have some, and i need to figure out how to do my make up properly before 25th June cos u have my school leavers ball...any advice or more tips?? what you have done already is fab tho =) thankyou! x

  • wat's the sog's name?

  • Please look at the end of the video. Always look before you ask.

  • does the kryolan anti shine powder make your face show up white in pictures??

  • No, it's actually meant for photo lights and flash so it doesn't do that like other make up.

  • soooo many layers;

isn't it bad for skin though?

  • This is for cosplay and photography, so just like makeup for theatre it isn't mean't for normal daily use. I clarified this in the description. It won't be bad for your skin cause it won't be on your skin for long unless you have very sensitive skin. And you need alot more makeup than normal because camera lights actually blow out your normal makeup, so have to exaggerate make up for it show up.

  • the number of layers of makeup depend on your skin type, exposure, occasion, and desired amount of coverage. if you really want flawless, flawless skin then this is great, but if you want a more casual, more natural finish, then you don't need as much.

  • Your Awesome ... you solved our problem about pimples ... XD thank you so much !!! :)

  • great! i'm definetely subscribing to your channel. :D

  • I don't even know where to begin with thanking you for making this video, as well. I thought the process was complex and difficult, you really broke it down. Thank you so much. You are so beautiful as well as kind. Thank you for the help!

  • I use marykay concealer, it seems to work beautifully for cosplay.

You did a great job !!

  • Super exelent tutorial! I want to make one too =) I love your hair!

  • ^___^ PLEASE MAKE MORE!!!

  • Oh my god ! thank you so much for this tutorial , My horrible skin and acne scars have been stopping me from cosplaying and even going to cons and i have tried different acne meds that aren't worth squat (such as proactive, clean and clear etc.) . Thanks to your help i can now learn to try and cover it all up and feel more confident with my cosplay .You are a true cosplay angel and i cannot thank you enough for this video , by the way your hair is beautiful . thanks again !

  • Wow o.o never knew that concealers were so amazing XD

    thanks alot!

Btw, what is the foam thing you were using to put on lots of the liquid stuff?

    Were can I get one?

  • They're foam makeup wedges. You can get them in the makeup section in most places like Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, etc

  • You're so good! And Simple and Clean song is awesome! OçO

  • You are really pretty, even without the makeup. :)

  • your skin looks soo photoshoped! awsomeee! thanks a lot! I really needed this for my next cosplay ^^.. BTW, LOVE YOUR HAIR x3

  • i have combined skin and when i where makeup it goes all flaky and horrible even when i use moisturiser.. but it also looks oily any helpp???

  • I tend to have that kind of same problem. What I do after putting a moisturizer I put concealer then a liquefied clarifying matte foundation... that way I use less powder foundation. so it doesn't flake.

  • I forgot... exfoliating your skin before moisturizing helps a big deal too. =)

  • yeah your hair is amazing x.x~

what colour do you use ;_;?

I try to dye my hair rainbowcolor. It worked for two days, then i washed the colour off ;_; because we have here no long-holding colour... so~ what do you use? I mean, that looks really colourfull and fresh xx like a wig or something...

  • do you have any advice for someone with darker skin? my friend and I are like the lovers of cosplay but have trouble with the make up. please respond. Thanks!!

  • Thankyou so much for this tutorial! :D And I have to say, OMG! You're hair is so awesome! :D!!! did you do that yourself?

  • Awesome thanks, I'm english so I have naturally pale skin but I also have terrible spots upon my forehead thats this mucho helps, for when I do my photoshoot :)

  • ...that's a lot of lotion. I can't that much on or else my skin will look super greasy....haha..

  • Well, I have eczema (dry skin), so I need more moitsurizer than normal people or else my makeup flakes really bad. Plus it's a good idea to put alot of moisturizer on before foundation or else the chances of seeing flakes are way higher and it makes the foundation look less caked on.

  • what was the stuff you used because it comes out really good. and do you have any good tips besides the one you put on the screen?

  • Great tutorial!. Thanks for the help. What shade of MAC Select Cover-Up do you use?

  • i love your awesome hair!

  • I love how the Sana Pore Putty gave your face a highlighted look. Is the Pore Putty matte? Would it work if I'm an Asian's NC20 for MAC Moistureblend with some discoloration across the cheeks and deep icepick scars on my nose or would it be too dark on me? I'm skeptical about buying foundation, especially online, since almost all foundations oxidizes orange on my dry face even with a primer. I love MaC Moistureblend but I found it too sheer and dewy for cosplay makeup, even if it is buildable.

  • there's so many questions posted, but i'm surprised there aren't any compliments! This tutorial is fantastic, uber helpful for a newbie like me xD great work!

  • *Just though of a question* o.o;!

You recommend that if you have dark discolorations to use two liquid concealers... Why can't you just use twice as much of one concealer? Wouldn't they mix together just the same anyway?

  • Yea, I'm sorry Ihave no concrete reasoning to why it helps but I just find that sometimes it does. My hunch is that it has to do with the color bases of my two liquid concealors, so that the yellow in one cancels out the purple while the peach color in my other cancels out the brown in my discolorations.

  • I must say, you have a fantastic taste in music. =3

  • omgomg!!!!!

    so dramatic!!!!!

    love this vid!!!

  • my friend has freckles and unfortunately, we are short on time and we don't think the pore putty will make it in on time. Is there another product that you recommend? You also said something about MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation- where might that be sold?

We learned a lot from this tutorial, and we definitely look forward to using this new info for the upcoming con. I only wish I found this vid sooner.

Thank you for the vid and patience!

    jaa,

    sano

    P.S

    You look beautiful! =D

  • You can get nearly all of MAC's products from any nearby MAC makeup counter. Or a MAC store. Oh yeah MAC's liquid foundation needs to be applied with a brush (mainly their stippling brush) or else it will look bad and caked on.

  • Thankies for the info and the tip =D

    jaa,

    sano

  • What online store do you suggest buying SANA products from? And if Pore Putty isn't available, what else do you recommend?

  • I really don't know what online store to buy SANA products from since I buy it from my grocery store, but you can just search it on google find some I bet. I recommend any higher end makeup from make up counters than SANA really (I use MAC products and stuff from Sephora like Shu Uemura, Urban Decay, Make Up Forever Cosmetics, Too Faced, Nars, etc.) since they are better quality and you can test them out before you buy to see if you like them. My female makeup tutorial is some of what i use.

  • i'm from singapore and was wondering where you could get the CoverBlend Multi-Fuction Concealer with SPF 15 in Beige by Exuviance and the Pore Putty Face Powder with SPF 30 by SANA. what i want most would be the Kryolan Anti-Shine Powder since i too have acne and all, so it'd be of great help if i could stay oil-free for like, as long as a day would be awesome!! right now, i'm only free from its clutches for about 2 hours or so... ;_;

  • A much better concealer I found is Select Cover-Up by MAC. It covers alot better, looks more natural, and has a better skintone variety. And for powder to remove oil shine I now use Blot Powder (pressed) by MAC. To stay oil free all I day I find using a make up primer before applying make up makes all the difference now and I use Prep + Prime Skin by MAC. To get a skin make up color match for MAC products, just locate the nearest MAC counter in Singapore and ask one of the Makeup Arists.

  • i'm assuming pore putty would work in concealign freckles. I have faitn ones right now, but as i get into more contact with sun, they ill become darker brown. as another user said a comment or two below, is this available exclusively online or can you possibly stop by a sephora's or some other make up place?

  • My friend has freckles and when we were cosplaying we were able to completely hide them with pore putty. Anyway pore putty is exclusive for Asia only so you have buy it from an online import in most cases. Also MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation can hide freckles too (plus it's IMO a better foundation and comes in more skin colors).

  • awesome vid! were can i find that pore putty face stuff?

  • If you live in Asia you should be able to find it in "punk" type stores or some grocery stores that sell SANA products. But if you're from anywhere else, you have to buy from an online importer because it's an Asia exclusive product.

  • omg thax i really need this for cosplaying!

  • Thanks so much! Where can I get this Mp3 by the way?!?! I can never find this one

  • What's the difference between concealer and foundation? I don't know much about make-up because I basically have to teach myself

  • Concealor is more pigmented and opaque in order to cover up spots you which you want to conceal (like blemishes and dark eye circles). Foundation is a less opaque make up meant to cover up the overall face for uneven skintone not just spots .

  • Ah, thankies ^^

  • that's a nice tutorial, but ~ one question.

My skin is really bad, mainly my fore head. And I don't use make up really often ... so ... if i start to use make up for cosplay, won't be my skin more bad than before? Because Make up is not so god for the skin? I really have angst, that my skin will be worse than before.

  • Typically you don't cosplay for more than a straight week. And as long as you wash all your make up off before you sleep it shouldn't make your skin worse. Make up doesn't make your skin worse unless you don't wash it off or if you're using bad quality products or if you are allergic to that certain make up (common with cheap make up).

  • I used to have really good skin until spots fucked it up,now i have red marks left on my nose and chin. I always use concealer to cover them up but I will never get over whats happend to my skin its mentally scarred me. - thankyou for the tips they are really helping me

  • Wow.

    Awesome.

    :D

This is a huge help to me, since I have really pale skin, and HUGE dark circles under my eyes (can anyone say "contrast"?).

    THANKYOU!

    ^^

    I love your hair.

  • cool hair. that's so bold! great tutorial too. i didn't know that an anti shine powder existed. x)

  • do i apply the anti-shine before or after i apply the concealer?

  • Depends on what type of items you are using as well as preference. I like to put it on before.

  • thnx for the vid ,

btw, your hair is awesome *O*

  • oh.. I love this tutorial.. I'm into cosplay. I may look nice but my color is tan.. Most animes are light colored. If I'll put make up on then they'll notice that only the face and neck are white.. (except of course if i'll be wearing a coat)

  • Can't you buy make up that matches your skin tone? Then you wouldn't have that problem ^^;;

  • I can but what I meant is that I have mid brown skin. Even if it's flawless, most animes are light skinned.. i might not fit in the character. :( I wear make up to make myself look white.

  • oh, I see what you mean now. Well there isn't much you can do about that. Theres an entire long thread about skin color and such on the cosplay forums. The only things you can do besides choosing characters with similar skintone is to adjust your cosplay to suit your skin color more such as changing the tone of the costume to be slightly darker, so that your skintone difference is less noticable. But of course there is only so much you can do.

  • Where can I buy the stuff you used in this video?

  • I love you for making this video. WHen I've seen other vids on clear skin I'm like geeze they don't even need to do half the stuff their telling us to do. You're skin is what us normal people looks like. lol But I do have alot of acne on my face and i'm afraid if I put concealer or any make up on it will just make my zits worse. Also I have really oily skin. do you know what I can do? I hope you make more videos.

  • The makeup seems flawless and gorgeous, but I'm wondering... how is that for your skin though? How does it breathe underneath so many layers?

  • Not as bad as latex, which I've done before and is waaay worse and can be toxic. This tutorial is more meant as stage make up, so it's heavier than daily make up use for photography reasons. But you can use it for normal make up I suppose if you have really heavy acne (wash your face when your done though). I don't use it for that reason though. Normally I just use my MAC Studio Fix Fluid for foundation with some MAC concealer and MAC blotting powder.

  • wow I have no idea how to apply makeup I SO FAIL AT BEING A GIRL I think I have learned something new from this video Thank You

  • i have extreamly oily skin do u think the Kryolan anti shine will work for me?

  • omg! thankies! this totally helped me out. now im ready to cosplay yay!

  • i adore your hair

i love all of your videos :D

    xx

  • ^^ Thanks for the tutorial!

    & Awesome hair, btw!

  • awesome!!! its great to have someone without perfect skin doing a perfect skin tutorial XDDDD its so annoying when those people who already have beautiful skin do it XD

  • Is the concealer you're going to use supposed to be lighter or darker than the skin color/spot color? D:

I love your vids. 8D They inspire me so much when I cosplay. :D It's so cute when you tilt your head from side to side after you apply something to your face. xP

  • It's suppose to be the same color (my camera does weird things to my makeup to appear either lighter or orange when taping sometimes).
