  • the woman who wrote this - dh girlfriend died in the Lockerbie bombing. This song alwAys brings me to tears.

  • @planetjeffy Actually Joanna Walton was Robert Fripp's girlfriend. North Star is credited to her, DH and Fripp and at the time it was written and recorded DH was in a long-term relationship with Sara Allen.

  • Fripp involved somewhere on this song?

    A great song.

  • all of these guys have amazing talents . . . I would love to hear Daryl do lead vocals with Santa, Clapton, and Knoplfer jamming with the entire group

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT...!!!! !!!

  • this song sounds lovely.montes guitar always sounds beautiful and tom wolk aka mr perfect always sounds amazing

  • Yes, Phil collins played on the original.

  • Check out the original on Robert Fripp's album; Daryl sings it beautifully - it's perhaps the most beautiful, ethereal singing ever?

  • the man just keeps it cool. sold a million records but never sold out.

  • Exquisite. Every time I listen to this song it's like playing back this romantic movie script that I wrote some time ago. It totally fits. Weird but wonderful at the same time. It always puts me into a sexy soulful mood. One day maybe I'll find someone to produce it.

  • he is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing!

  • one of my favorite. yes phil collins did do drums on the original

  • Great!!!!!!

  • very laidback tune..love it!!!...correct me if i'm wrong but did'nt Phil Collins lay down the original drum track for this one?

  • @hubiex yep, Eno on synth.

  • @hubiex yes phil collins did to drums on the original track.

  • Daryl: please do a Live from Daryl's House with Robert Fripp!

  • OMG THIS IS SO PRECIOUS. I wish Daryl and Robert Fripp would play together again. Love his SACRED SONGS album.

  • @RINLEW My feelings exactly. What an incredible album, including my favorite track, "Without Tears". Such a great record.

  • Mmmm. This song is still luscious

  • Daryl Hall =Clint Eastwood, of rock.

    Job done.

  • Wonderful video...how did Monte and H & A get together??

  • just amazing!

  • Terrific performance.

  • Tout simplement magnifique, j'en ai la chaire de poule...

  • Daryl, thanks for making this program and share it with Internet users. This is a great job, one of my favorite things to watch lately.

  • I already knew the original song (even am in Tokyo) and felt it's a good re-image.

  • Matte Kudesai.

  • If you dont know this song from before go check him singing on Robert Fripp's studio version. Amazing. Thank you Joey for turning me on to Fripp way back in the day.

  • martha is a wanker!

  • Love it.

  • wow thats truly beutiful !!

  • i like the slide , monte did a great job , it would be great to see them do an cd .

  • yo, awizardatruestar: i got the 2 disc version of exposure a few years ago and was blown away. i'd never before heard the original daryl hall vocals on songs like disengage, etc.

again, i love everthing hall & fripp collaborated on. i wish they had done more...

  • This song is gorgeous. When I listen to it, I picture a dead, bloated, rotting corpse gently floating in the Ganges River under a filthy faced moon on a warm summer's eve.

  • It reminds me of seeing my wife's friend's beaver on a hot summer day, festering in the noon day heat. The heat wave lines that rose up from her hairy bush, and the way her pubic hair got sweaty and threw off a distinct odor of canned tuna...That was some nasty cooter and one hot summer day.

  • Now why would you even think to say such crap like this as a commentary about a musical performance for any other reason than to be an ass.

  • you are fucked up. i think it would be educational if you and i could meet somewhere outside of any town of your choosing. preferrably sometime near sun set. there is always room in the earth mothers embrace for all who cannot meet her requirements for survival.........................please.... respond

  • Maybe K.D. Lang has some "Splainin to do" Thanks...

  • The tune, I knew I had heard this before... check out K.D. Lang's "Save Me" ???

  • Hall wrote this song in the mid '70s with Robert Fripp of King Crimson. It's on Hall's Scared Songs album and Fripp's Exposure album.

  • Monte is truly a "Generational Musician", just as Daryl was for my generation ... Im 48...This combination right here is a dramatic and historical birth! Im glad to see my children can now enjoy this blend of the 70's and 80's best, that being Daryl Hall, with this current Generations finest musician I have never seen the likes of until today! Bravo and Muy Bien Hecho Amigos! Thanks for warming my heart and soul on this cold winters day! Best... Dave B

  • Check out the expanded verson of the Exposure cd by Robert Fripp for a whole additional disc of Daryl vocals. North Star is a fabulous song with a magical vocal performance by Daryl. Wonder where his career would have taken him if he'd gone down the Fripp/King crimson route?

  • I love Daryl's mini-rant about Martha Stewart. :D

  • I still say "she got what she deserved" just all like those other bankers should get, maybe if we're lucky they will blow their brains out and kill the gene pool..

  • i love EVERYTHING he did with fripp...

  • Absolutely wonderful.

  • Gorgeous song. I love the way it opens... listening to this I picture a porch with warm winds blowing and some minty tea with honey. The sounds say expectation.

  • Daryl, sang this song with Robert Fripp. I didn't like it, as, much as this song. I think he was younger, there for his voice wasn't as polished and refined as it is now. He didn't sing, the other song with as much commitment and feelingas he did with this song . "I love This song, NORTH STAR." Somebody needs to discover monte montgomery this brother is so telented. Wishing you all the Best.

  • @tamarw1 No. I prefer the original Fripp song - he gets the high notes beautifully

  • That's cool. Did Monte lay down some tracks for Daryl's album?

  • exposure is an amazing album

  • here is more atmosphere than in the studio-version

  • call martha daryl.....gut rail her dude
