no, it can definitely not record java games, sorry. unless the java game makes use of directX and openGL... i don't know if java can do that? :) if not, you'd have to use a normal screen recorder for this

did you start taksi and the game exactly how i showed it in the video? also, you must not press alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del to switch to desktop while recording, it will corrupt your video file.

theoretically yes, but recording H.264 in real time requires a very fast cpu. i have a 2.83ghz quad core and it isn't even enough. so practically, the answer would be no, sadly. maybe in 5 years when CPUs are fast enough :)

I will use this instead of FRAPS anyday for 2 reasons. If you record a 15 minute videos it 1. breaks whole recording into 3 movies which combining later and re editing is a pain and 2. Obviously the file size.

Only thing I would want to be included is a timer like play claw... and DX10 support would be nice ...

@summ22 I use Fraps About a year now, But for some reason i encountered a problem just now. when i record a video my fraps run perfectly it seem no prob. But when i play my recorded video on Windows Media Player or DIVX it play but no video sound only!

It's my fraps corrupted or i've done something wrong? is there anything i can do about it?

i suggest the following: record a short video and send it to someone else to play it, so you can see if if the video file itself is corrupted or if your player software is messed up

Any idea when i click better quality underr the video codec from your link why I get really bad discoloration and choppy graphics? im looking to record in better quality than just the balanced option but it seems if i go higher i experience this problem. you have to encode your video with MPEG-4 part 10 (also sometimes called AVC or H.264). set your video's resolution accordingly, it must be exactly 1280 x 720 for 720p HD or 1920 x 1080 for full HD if i remember correctly.

In order to run taksi properly on Vista and newer, you must start it with admin privvies. Otherwise nothing will work in it. Next, I have a question: How do you stop it from cutting off video feed near the end? Like, halfway into my video, the video cuts off, but my sound keeps going.

some ideas:

1. taksi can only record direct3d and opengl games, make sure your game is running in either of these modes or it won't record anything

2. have you tried starting taksi AFTER starting your game, then switching back to your game? if i start taksi first and then any game, it doesn't work for me

and, what codec are you using? some codecs don't work and make your system crash when you press record

the download site was pointing to divx 6.8.0 which is a good clean version, now they changed the link to divx 8.1.2 which is full of bloatware. check my video description for an updated link to divx 6.8.0, it does not contain any viruses or spyware.

you don't need any extra software. however, you can't edit your videos with taksi, so if you want to cut the produced videos or join them together or add some effects, you'll need a video editing software

Neither of us use any programs such as Audacity or anything to record sound then sync it to audio, because there is no need. My latest 3 vids show recordings from Taksi that have been recorded with sound, from Taksi. If I get enough ppl asking, I will actually show how we achieved it ;)

@summ22 I found out the real reason why its suddenly working! They have updated their link to the latest subversion (last update was made on 6/27/2010) It actually says there that they fix sound through one of the output formats! So you just need to get the latest copy of the program!

first, try a different video codec. then, check your CPU load during recording, if its 100%, your machine is probably too slow.

you must not switch between windowed mode and fullscreen while recording (and not change the game's screen resolution). what codec are you using? try a different codec just to see if it works. does the green rectangle show up?

you can't toggle between the game and taksi. as soon as you switch away from the game without pressing stop, the video file will be corrupted (at least that's what i experienced)
