Sad that nowadays the Eurovision contest is no more in the different languages but mostly in english. I really like the english language but all the different european languages are are geat treasure we must keep for the future. Europe is so special for its many different cultures. That is our strength!

The song and performance are both very good, but I find it odd that she did something very offbeat and unusual in 1974 and then came back with something extremely conventional. I prefer "I See A Star" personally!

Maybe conventional is the wrong word, but to me this is very Eurovision French-Diva. With Mouth & Macneal she was this glam rock chick like Suzi Quatro.

In my opinion, in 1980 were only 3 great songs:

1. Katja Ebstein - Theater (should have won!)

2. Maggie MacNeal - Amsterdam (5th place? What a underrated song!)

3. Paola - Cinema

In the early stages of the voting it looked as though it would do just that, before their streak thinned out and in the end they had slipped to 5th. But still, as you say, this is a magnificent song.

If this was one of your favourites from 1980 then what song did you think was best ? I think that this was not only the best song but also the very best performance. Johnny Logan has never done much for me don't think he's a good singer.
