@dbcorp Flew the F900 EASy before, but good friends are flying the 7X. Falcons are much better for handflying and EASy is easier to use, more intuitive, but G550 more confo and has longer legs. Different approaches....
@neocon6716 I think that's the idea. anything to make crew ops safer and more efficient. I've only got 10 hrs is a glass cockpit. It makes it so much easier. I loved it for sure
Most famous words in aviation: If we get a little lower I'm sure we'll break through or I broke out right at minimums! lol great job. Good landing. I'd been shitting my pants.
The minimums call, is that the CAT 1 minimum? I am presuming this was an autoland to a CAT 2 minima and was surprised that the minima call was made when there appeared to be no visibility.
The real visibility was slightly better than seen on this video. The approach lights appeared probably 2 to 3 sec before they are seen on this short video (probably the quality of the lens or the paralax). We can not hear neither the calls from the pilots stating they have the lights in sight...And the minima calls are done by the FMS for the CAT 1.
You guy's are great pilots! I would have thought it was the perfect situation to use the EVS for saftey just in case. I guess that's why I'm not a pilot! LOL.......
The PM (pilot monitoring) probably had the EVS up in the 1/6th window on his PFD. This way if the runway environment is in site on the EVS, you can go down 100 more feet more. At that point you must have it visually to continue the approach. But, I suspect the video makes the vis look worse than it really was the day. Cheers-
Do you fit the motocross bike inside the G550?

@dbcorp: yes if you take the wheels off ;-)

Hello sidestick7X; do you also fly a Falcon 7X, or do G550 pilots also have dreams? :-) By the way; really slick Landing, bit scary... HUD???

How did pilot found and seen runway in such a bad weather?
i shall suggest plane should not be flown in such like weather.
before taking off pilot should also check the weather of destination.
thanks

That is insane. I would had chickened out at the 200ft alarm! Was that solely a GPS approach?

@aratidwell : no, just a classical ILS approach

Very nice displays, what an awesome jet. Barely made it in the touchdown zone, about 2900 feet down.

What a great vid, had the glide slope and localizer pegged like a champ! Im assuming he was hand flying?

Very nice!! I didn't hear "approach lights in sight, Continuing" unless this was strictly a single pilot operation.

Back ground noise is covering the crew calls....
Definitly a 2 crew ops!

@klfhsdaljk17 You can hear "Approach lights in sight, Continuing" when the GPWS called out "Minimums" at 0:51.
