yes it is a matter of opinion, but as i mentioned, i am not the first to compare these two bands. in fact, obadiah parker has claimed to be followers of the dave matthews band. so that is what makes my opinion more valid than yours in that.

But if a band claims to be followers of another band, then several people listen to the music and state that it reminds them of that same band, it is not a stretch by any means to say that they sound pretty similar. If several people heard a Metallica song and said "this reminds me a lot of Johnny Cash," then your point would be valid. However, I don't believe that has ever happened, at least not to my knowledge. So your point isn't entirely applicable

How so? The similarities end at they both play guitar, sing and have a band. The style is very different, this is more jazzy and dmb is more jam band

Well it IS just my opinion but to me, although DMB is predominantly a 'jam' band, it definitely has a jazz feel to it. These guys have a very similar feel and style but just seem a little sloppy if you know what I mean. The musicians just don't have quite the same precision as the members of DMB. That being said, I have watched a few Obadiah Parker vids and I do enjoy them. If they head to OZ someday I'll be sure to check 'em out...
