personally, i think it's a parent letting go of her child. how she will take care of her child and do everything to make him/her "shine" but that when the time comes, she'll let her kid "skyrocket away" from her. if you think about it that way while listening to the song... it makes a lot more sense.

I was in exactly the same situation - I gave him a chance and we ended up breaking up again a couple of weeks ago. It really depends on what he did and whether you can really forgive him..
