  • Oh Daddy... this song, remind me of you... like so many others. You loved this song and I close my eyes and see you, hear you.. singing to this song. I love and miss you so much, I long to be able to just hold you one more time, hear your heartbeat against my ear. I will never ever get over losing you. 16 years and It still feels like yesterday. I love you forever.

  • In 1968 I was returning to Mozambique from Portugal by sea and it scaled at Durban harbor overnight, I was then a teenager. I walked the streets of Durban when suddenly I heard this song coming from inside a bar. I was in love with this song there and then.In Mozambique I met a friend who had been studing in South Africa and he sung Cry to Me. After my army time I emmigrated to South Africa where I, for many years was the only Portuguese singer interpreting Cry to Me. Love you Steve

  • My wife and myself are sitting in bed in a cold U.K. with more than one tear in our eyes listening to this most wonderful song which takes us back to a time long gone. We will never, never forget - this powerful yet sweet voice of Steve Lonsdale and yes I did remember his name after all these years. Keep on singing Steve. We miss you South Africa.

  • Burke popularised the song, The Stones did a good job, Petty tried, Duffy - well, tried...then along came The Staccatos with the magnificent voice of Steve Lonsdale and just blew them all away! My then girlfriend (and now wife of nearly 41 years) and I frequented Ciro's in Johannesburg during the early part of 1968, what a fantastic era in South African music!

  • The poster of this song wrote this above: The Staccatos were formed in Nov 1961. Hailing from Johannesburg South Africa.
