@7thSwell who comes up with the choreography? The students,or Dr. White? When I watch you all I be like wow they did that, or I laugh because many of the routines that the band does is so creative. A very tight and creative band. Oh and the announcer talking about HD and Ipods, and Ipads that brother be having me rolling. The videos like when the band was in the superman formation then they all broke out in the soldier boy superman dance that was hot. Yea a very creative band.
@FLICOZY Yeah everything is student created and then run past the band staff for confirmation (to make sure the movements in the dance routine don't get too out of hand, it meets time restrictions, ect) and yeah Joe is pretty funny lol. And don't worry about the previous comments. I'm too smart to be angered by this "argument" or whatever it was. She was really just rambling and not thinking. Thought I can see why; the whole situation was very emotional indeed.

@7thswell when FAMU band rehearse are they closed sessions. Personally though I don't live in Florida, hanging in the room while they are rehearsing has to be slick. The music that this band plays and how they play it is tight. They have a really good sound and that's an understatement.
@FLICOZY No the rehearsals are public. They pretty much all take place at the patch which is in directly next to the campus apartments and in plain sight to all those that want to come and watch. Even the music rehearsals in the band room are open to whoever wants to watch.

looking forward to this... the first time i saw FAMU was at a Gator Growl back in 1992 or 93. they are the only thing i remember from the event:) the experience changed how i perceive marching bands to this day. FAMU set the bar really high. so much, whenever i see another marching band live, i always bring up FAMU. if you havent seen them in person, a video does not do justice.

@305JENNIE There's never been a female drum major. A girl tried out a few years ago, but in the doc, Wesley Hemmans explains that she quit during the tryouts because she said she did not have the physical stamina for the position.
@bigShelbyAL I'm not really the one to ask, but after interviewing the drum majors in the doc, they say you must be very skilled at your instrument and go through try outs.
How is there a way to be come a famu drum major. I was drum major in high school and we was a good band I won drum major of the year and was name the hottest drum major of the year.
