@LacosTacosPacos Abrahamic/Hebrew god but nonetheless, I've been thinking the same. Their ancestors had different gods so what makes Sherri so special that she get's to hear about the "true" god from a bunch of people that owned her ancestors through bible condoning slavery? The history of religion is a clear sign that man made god in his image. You take the ancient greeks, you get ancient greek gods. You take the ancient africans, you get african/black gods.
IS she an idiot ... ?!?! The world of ancient greece pre-dates the era that supposedly Jesus Christ lived. How the hell could there have always been Christians when that whole religion is dated back to 2000 years ago, does she think no society existed before that? WTF!
The View makes me think the only women with functional brains are older less attractive women. C'mon young bitches, get you shit together. Stop being so fucking retarded or I'm gonna be stuck fucking the Whoopi Goldberg's anf Joy Behar's of the world....
ok sherri that was a little rediculous. but in her defense the bible predated the greeks so i could see where she was coming from. what sherri isnt realising is that christianity comes from judaism. but i still love her and elisabeth for sticking up for religion on the veiw.
@YawnGod i meant to say the old testament not the whole bible. and maybe not the whole old testament (or torah) but at least in part. the bible wasnt written all at once. it was written as things happened. and much of what happened in the old testament happened before greek culture was even relevant.
Eum, no. Just about any event that was written down in that book (supposedly) took place centuries before they were actually written down in most cases.
The bible in its entirety wasn't even compiled into a single book until like 350 AD (or something). And I'll add that only a minority of scripture circulating during that time found its way into this vile book.
@ScientificBob yeah but the point is that the jewish faith origionated before greek was relavent. whether it was written or passed down verbally. and i can inderstand why someone maynot appreciate the bible as i do but the fact that you call it a vile book just prooves how close minded you really are.
@Luke73470 "the jewish faith origionated before greek was relavent" Jews aren't christians. Just like christians aren't muslims, eventhough Islam is Judaism 3.0
And by no means was judaism the first religion, so the point is void anyway.
"the fact that you call it a vile book just prooves how close minded you really are" Funny how you can conclude that without knowing why I call it a vile book.
Christianity (the new testament) picks up where the Jews (old testament) left off... And the Jews were around before even the greeks, or even the Ancient Egyptians.
Hey, I am a christian and I recognize the scientific validity of evolution and natural selection..There is absolutely no conflict between having faith in the monotheistic, Creator God of the Bible and in accepting empirical science as a tool of intellectual inquiry. There are numerous famous Christian who are very competent scientists and who experience no conflict with material science and naturalist explanations. The Bible is not a science text and everything is not literal
"Nothing pre-dates christians" Uhm, the Jews? Where does this woman think "The Old Testament" came from? Jesus didn't write it. I understand that this Sherri woman is too dumb to understand the concept of evolution, but at least she could try to learn the history of her own "holy book". Gosh, and they pay this person for stating her opinions on television?
@jmdesilu to be more specific, an ape didn't evolve into a human. The descendants of an ancient species with similar qualities to both present day apes and present day humans eventually became so different that it was possible to distinguish between humans and other primates.
If I was in a conversation with someone who came out the something as utterly fuckwitted as 'I don't think anything predates Christians' I would simply not be able to contain myself.
Before Christians there was Jews. Before the Jews you had the polytheistic version of the Jews not namely so. These alternate versions were inspired by numerous religions before its incarnation, mainly Zoroastrianism, some argue as the [one of the] first of the monotheistic/last judgment religions. Before that you had even more different religions, then the farther back you get plain ideas and beliefs, then before that you have the innocent root of humanity ready to split into today's apes and..
Sherri Shephard is a prime example why religion must never enter into the classroom..... Imagine how many other thousands of people will be as mind blowingly stupid as her just because like her, she is misleadingly infatuated with her faith....
..... Au MY HEAD HURTS OF THIS STUPIDITY!!! My god (pun intended, Im an atheist) Look if someone is a christian, okay fair enough, but don't be so BLOODY IGNORANT ABOUT YOUR OWN RELIGION!!! Has she not read the OLD TESTAMENT!!! It is prior to the new testament. And who feature in the old testament... that's right, Jews. So they predate, but also... Egyptians with their polytheistic world view...
Do not textbooks present evolution as fact? “Many scientists succumb to the temptation to be dogmatic, . . . over and over again the question of the origin of the species has been presented as if it were finally settled. Nothing could be further from the truth. . . . But the tendency to be dogmatic persists, and it does no service to the cause of science.”—The Guardian, London, England, December 4, 1980, p. 15.
@TheELISHABETH Astronomer Robert Jastrow says: “To their chagrin [scientists] have no clear-cut answer, because chemists have never succeeded in reproducing nature’s experiments on the creation of life out of nonliving matter. Scientists do not know how that happened.”—The Enchanted Loom: Mind in the Universe (New York, 1981), p. 19.
Evolutionist Loren Eiseley acknowledged: “After having chided the theologian for his reliance on myth and miracle, science found itself in the unenviable position of having to create a mythology of its own: namely, the assumption that what, after long effort, could not be proved to take place today had, in truth, taken place in the primeval past.”—The Immense Journey (New York, 1957), p. 199.
Most people face life the way it really is. If I walk in the countryside and find wood and stones have been shaped into a house, it should be obvious someone was there before me and built it. Would it be logical for me to conclude that flowers growing alongside the house resulted just from chance? If I feel that way I need to look closely and notice the intricate design, because I know that's a basic truth that where there is design there must be a designer. The Bible tells us at Heb. 3:4
@TheELISHABETH and no it is not logical to conclude that because you see a house and conclude it was created that the flowers were created a well. The reason that we know that the house was created has nothing to do with its complexity or its appearance of design, but because we have thousands of mental examples of houses being created and not occurring naturally.
And if we were to suppose that everything complex has to be designed then what designed god since he is complex?
@TheELISHABETH "it should be obvious someone was there before me and built it" This is obvious for two reasons:
1. we OBSERVE humans building houses
2. we know stones and wood do not have the necessary properties needed to self-assemble into a house.
"Would it be logical to conclude that flowers growing resulted just from chance" No, it wouldn't. It's not chance. It's a sensible process of mutation + selection, which is the opposite of "random chance".
@TheELISHABETH "I know that's a basic truth that where there is design there must be a designer"
Genetic Algorithms make that a demonstrably false statement.
GA's work according to the principles of mutation + selection. These algoritms are perfectly able to design blindly. See the website boxcar2d(dot)com for a nice example.
So now that you have been informed on this, you should now know that design does not imply a designer. It can also imply a natural mechanism that results in design.
@TheELISHABETH "Do not textbooks present evolution as fact?" That's because it IS a fact, just like gravity. Dogma's have nothing to do with it. Observed genetic change over generation through mutation and selection has everything to do with it.
Evolution is a FACT: life undergoes genetic changes every generation.
Natural Selection is that actual theory of evolution: it explains the mechanism. If natural selection (as a mechanism) is wrong, evolution still happens.
@ScientificBob wow!!!! if you really think that just because a text book says something is a fact than that means it is than you need help. there isnt anything more biased in this country than our education system!!!!! they teach evolution as a fact out of fear that if they open the subject to multiple ideas than someone might bring up religion. im not even someone who doesnt believe in evolution as a possiblity. but come on. textbooks!! thats ur argument???
@Luke73470 "if you really think that just because a text book says something is a fact than that means it is " I didn't say that. That's what you made of it. Nothing is true by default just "because" a book says it.
"they teach evolution as a fact out of fear " No, they teach evolution as a fact because it IS a fact. And it's not a fact 'because they say so', but because 200 years of rigorous study and research established it as such.
@Luke73470 "if they open the subject to multiple ideas " Science is ALWAYS open to other ideas.
"than someone might bring up religion" See, the thing is... these ideas that science is ALWAYS open to... need to be supported by a buttload of research, data and experiments. Which religion is most certainly not. Religion only has baseless claims from a book written by goat herders who didn't even realise that the earth orbits the sun instead of the sun the earth...
@Luke73470 "textbooks!! thats ur argument???" No, that's your strawmen.
My argument consists of 200 years of scientific investigation, experimentation, study, peer review and evidence.
Science is not open to interpretation like religion. In science, something is either supported or it isn't. In science, 'Faith' (= accepting as true without evidence) is a big no-no. In religion, 'faith' is all there is. Which is why it has no place in any scientific context.
@ScientificBob you really think there is no faith involved in science? that is what you would like to think but your wrong! all the time the science world comes out with new "facts" and alot of times they disproove what they thought was fact 10 or more years before. it sounds to me like scientists put a little to much FAITH in their own intelligence.
@Luke73470 "you really think there is no faith involved in science" I don't think that. I know that.
"alot of times they disproove what they thought was fact 10 or more years before" It's called 'progress'. The very fact that science is falsifiable (= can be disproved) is what makes it the opposite of "faith".
@Luke73470 "it sounds to me like scientists put a little to much FAITH in their own intelligence" So, what do you suggest then? That we don't correct mistakes? We'ld still believe that the sun orbits the earth if it were upto you it seems. Everybody can make mistakes, there is no shame in that. There is MUCH shame in holding dogmatically to a belief without good reason and with no means to falsify or prove it.
Sherri is the "dumb view" of The View while I think Whoopi and Joy are the "smart view" of the view, they need a balance in the show so they have dumb ignorants and smart people oh and I diidnt see Elizabeth there, but she qualifies as a "dumb view" too
Hahhahaa, uh, if nothing "predated Christians" why would they even throw them to the lions? I take it she never heard the terms Heathen or Pagan. Wow....
here are the following civilizations that predated christians: Persia, China, Greece, Rome, Egypt, and India. Sherri no offense but u need a better history book than an outdated contradictory text written in the bronze age.
People ask what facts and evidence in believing in a God? Well I see facts and evidence every moment of my life and most greatful.. The flowers, birds and just all creation. Just a life itself is amazing how "God" created us. I am most greatful to my God, Jehova.. Joshua 24:15- Now if it is bad in YOUR eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom YOU will serve, [........ ] "But as for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah."
@TheELISHABETH I don't see how birds and flowers are proof of god, because it presupposes that you already believe in a god. Existence is proof of existence it said nothing about how it got there until you investigate it, and so far all evidence points toward a natural explanation (abiogenesis then evolution).
Since you quoted a bible verse to prove you point I am now curious, why do you believe the bible is correct over the thousands of other religions out there?
@Netruic In my research, I have not found scientist to have any proof of exsitence as far as evolution, so until there is any TRUTH as far as any stories of evolution, I would have to believe in the highest power. We humans are much too complicated and had to have such a wonderous designer.
@Netruic In my research, I've not found scientist to have any proof of exsitence as far as evolution, so until there is any TRUTH on these theories I would have to believe in the highest power. We humans are much too complicated and there has to be a wonderous designer. Most religions believe in a higher power too, but instead of listening to whats being preached, I just study the Bible which I wholeheartedly believe was inspired for us, as every designer has a Manual! 2 Tim 3:16
@TheELISHABETH no proof? did you even look? dna, fossils, artificial breeding of new species, geological locations of fossils, synchronization with other scientific findings, most medicines developed using evolution(such as the one for swine flu) just to name a few (dna and what we know about it, alone is enough to prove evolution)
But lets suppose that your right and evolution is not true, what evidence supports creation in the bible?
@Netruic Human brain: Modern computers are a product of intensive research and careful engineering. They did not “just happen.” What about the human brain? Unlike the brain of any animal, the brain of a human infant triples in size during its first year. How it functions is still largely a mystery to scientists. In humans, there is the built-in capacity to learn complex languages, to appreciate beauty,
@TheELISHABETH to compose music, to contemplate the origin and meaning of life. Said brain surgeon Robert White: “I am left with no choice but to acknowledge the existence of a Superior Intellect, responsible for the design and development of the incredible brain-mind relationship—something far beyond man’s capacity to understand.” Reader’s Digest, Sept 1978, p. 99 The development of this marvel begins from a tiny fertilized cell in the womb.
With remarkable insight, the Bible writer David said to Jehovah: “I shall laud you because in a fear-inspiring way I am wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, as my soul is very well aware.”Ps. 139:14.
@TheELISHABETH Part one-There is more known about the human brain than you think, that is why we know about many neurological diseases, neurologist are able to preform brain surgery and so on.
We also know enough to realize that there is no supernatural things going on with the brain such as a soul, that is why when you damage a certain part of the brain the function attributed to that part ceases to function (if you damage the occipital lobe you cant see for example...)
@Netruic part two- All of the brains functions such reasoning, empathy, learning are all products of human evolution through natural selection. The humans who and things like empathy and reasoning works well with others and was able to solve problems more efficiently, increasing its chances of survival
nevertheless your argument either way is still an argument from ignorance, saying that because we dont know how something came to be therefore god (i assume is your point and apologize if its not)
@TheELISHABETH Does the Bible allow for the idea that God used evolution to produce the various kinds of living things?
Genesis 1:11, 12 says that grass and trees were made to produce each “according to its kind.” Verses 21, 24, 25 add that God created sea creatures, flying creatures and land animals, each “according to its kind.” There is no allowance here for one basic kind to evolve or change into another.
@TheELISHABETH so is a "cat" a kind? or "spider"? or is kind more like sub species such as lion or tiger are lions and tigers the same kind? what about frogs and toads? are they the same kind?

Joshua 24:15- Now if it is bad in YOUR eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom YOU will serve, [........ ] "But as for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah."
these bickering jibber jabber hens should shut the fuck up. All religion is a cancer on the Human spirit. A malignant growth found on the intellect of the failed, the fallen, the weak. The lowest of the low hanging fruit. Judge yourself worthy of life based on whether or not you think their is a dead jew zombie carpenter or a pedophile prohet that pulls all the strings LOLOLOL Its time to euthanize the religious. They are an anchor to progression
If the estimates of modern-day scientists as to the age of the physical universe are anywhere near correct, Jesus’ existence as a spirit creature began thousands of millions of years prior to the creation of the first human. (Compare Mic 5:2.) This firstborn spirit Son was used by his Father in the creation of all other things. (Joh 1:3; Col 1:16, 17) This would include the millions of other spirit sons of Jehovah God’s heavenly family (Da 7:9, 10; Re 5:11)
@TheELISHABETH I thank my God All mighty and father Jehovah our Creator of all that we have free will.. I chose to follow his council thru his love letter, The Bible. 2 Tim 3:16, But I thank you all for your thoughts, it's always a pleasure sharing what I've learned. You ask I back it up with scriptures as I should've, and I did. I will faithly continue to follow the scriptures all the days of my life. This system has nothing to offer, and I'm quite happy with God's promises. Have a great day!
@TheELISHABETH I asked you to back up with evidence, Scripture is not even close to a microbe of evidence...... Hope you enjoy wasting the only life you know you have for the promise of a life completely unprovable and most unlikely.... Instead of enjoying everything this life has to offer, your evil "faith" has poisoned your mind to despise everything in this world. You fill it with ancient tales and myths similar to that of a science fiction fantasy. How sad for you...
Prehuman Existence:The person who became known as Jesus Christ did not begin life on earth. He himself spoke of his prehuman heavenly life.John 3:13 Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but he that descended from heaven, the Son of man. John 6:38 because I have come down from heaven to do, not my will, but the will of him that sent me. John 6:62 What, therefore, if YOU should behold the Son of man ascending to where he was before? John 8:23 “YOU are from the realms below; I am not.
Who is the woman third from the left who appears to have fallen out of a tree and now has severe brain damage? "jesus came before the Greeks"???? In what dimension?
Okay, yes the human Jesus was not predated, and wow, she said there were christian before him. LOL Actually, she forgot that a christian is one that belives in Jesus Christ. I just looked at it again, so sad. ja, ja. Okay u stand corrected. But, I think she got it mixed up with hm being the !st born of all God's creation. Perhaps? People think of Adam as 1st creation or the earth. Hmm who knows what she was thinking.
@TheELISHABETH ummm, einstein, how could there be christians before christ? LMAO. YOU just said "a christian is one that believes in jesus christ." how can you believe in him/it before he existed? and the video shows that the claim was that christianity itself was believed to be the oldest faith. that is beyond idiotic.
To Brever, we are all idiots, sinners being ruled by Satan, what can u expect? Unfortunately Sherri could get a grip on this issue because she is lacking some studying. You know the old saying, Practice makes perfect. If you stop studying u wil forget many points as she did. She actually had it right, but forgot the details according to scripture. As I've posted to xadam, would explain that in fact, God's son was predated. I recommended that we all get our sources from the Bible, not man!
@TheELISHABETH " I recommended that we all get our sources from the Bible, not man!" LMAO. do you mean, we should think the earth was formed in 6 days, 6000 years ago, when we know it was a process of millions/billions of years and that the earth is 4.5-4.6 billion years old? do you mean we should think people live inside of wales, live to be 900, turn water into wine, and get pregnant without having sex? do you mean that snakes and bushes can talk? and that boat with EVERY species on earth?
@slyjokerg . John 8:42 them: “If God were YOUR Father, YOU would love me, for from God I came forth and am here. Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth John 8:58 Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been.” John 1:1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. 2 This one was in [the] beginning with God. 3 All things came into existence through him.
@TheELISHABETH you are obviously not aware of how logic works. quoting the bible doesn't prove the bible is "true." you are 'saying,' the bible is true because it says things, and we know the things it says are true because they are in the bible. the bible is a fable. it is a collection of stories. it isn't completely worthless, but it is more commonly harmful. if it was taken with the weight of any other fictional writing, i wouldn't have a problem with it.
now I am really surprised that Sherri is that dumb that she has no knowledge of history that she thinks Jesus was before the Greeks and Romans...didn't she read her bible ?? it was the ROMANS that crucified Jesus..how embarrassing for her not only does she not know basic history but she doesn't even have the basic knowledge of the life and times of Jesus
@xadam2dudex Actually she is right according to the scriptures, although not in flesh yet! Read John 3:16 that speaks of God sending his ONLY begotten son. Jesus was in heaven, but he was God's (mediator/Angel). Micah 5:2, latter “whose origin is from early times, from the days of time indefinite. More verses showing that Jesus (firstborn/begotten) Heb 9:24; Col.1:15 clearly shows Jesus as the 1st of all Creation. Also John 1:3: Gen 1:26 & Philippians 2:7.
@TheELISHABETH u r totally wrong.. they weren't speaking of a scriptural reference...Jesus the second person of the trinity wasn't created ..Jesus the historical man was born into time and that event is the basis of the current calendar.. I restate Sherri was truly ignorant when she said I"don't think anything predated christians" and if u think she is right u do need to go back to school u slept thru all of your history classes
Funny how he didn't appear out of the sky, rather he popped out of the womb in run down old barn surrounded by some sheep and a couple of cows...... If God wanted to announce his one and only offspring, he picked the most un-hygenic of circumstances. Its a wonder the kid didn't die of serious infection.....
@philster611 Jesus as “the firstborn of all creation,” “the beginning of the creation by God.” (Col 1:15; Re 1:1; 3:14) Thus the Scriptures identify the Word (Jesus in his prehuman existence) as God’s first creation, his firstborn Son.
Quite poetic, however totally false and completely unsupported by any fact or evidence....If you actually knew the history of Christianity you would know that the "scriptures" are more of an underground cult trying to establish itself in the face of oppression. It reflects the mentality of the time. Every religion then (and now) needed to have a Godhead. The Godhead must also reflect awe and wonder. Not that it ever did but to the ancient peoples it was....
@philster611 I thank my God All mighty and father Jehovah our Creator of all that we have free will..
@TheELISHABETH Heres a thought for you. You believe in an eternal life hereafter. Lets start with 100 years after your death. Quite a long time by our standard, Yet there you are in your heaven worshipping your insecure deity. Even after 1000 years. The world is unrecognisable to us. And yet, there you are praising the God. A million years has passed. Our species will have evolved into another. If we are alive at all. Another ice age has passed, and yet there you are, praising the deity
@TheELISHABETH 100 million years has gone past. Merely a blink in the timeline of eternity.... But .....yet ...the praising party has barely begun. On it goes. A billion years has passed. Perhaps the Andromedia galaxy is upon us and the Earth is a turkey shoot. Yet ..... the praising continues...... 5 billion years has passed. Our sun is no longer. Our earth has been swallowed up by the Red dwarf which is the remnants of what used to be our sun... And yet..... on goes the worship.....
@TheELISHABETH Henceforth the imaginative writers of the time borrowed of previous religions and used a "Son of a deity" syndrome.Of interesting note it was never actually a woman, always a man. As we know there is no such thing as a son of God but to the ancient who knew nothing about the physical world, they invented tales of such for a multitude of reasons. Scripture is nothing more than prose. The translation you quote from is the KJV, which is why it is in Shakesperean English....
@Mushman15 is that racist ?? apparently u haven't been paying attention to the tea baggers.. now they are some powerful stupid people.. r u a tea bagger ?

"i don't think anything predated christians" ???????? what?????? without even getting into the details and facts about how ignorant and mindless that is... WHO THE FUCK DOES SHE THINK JESUS WAS? A JEW. lets see, no one predated christians? is she really that f'n stupid? she thinks that religion didn't predate jesus? shows the mentality OF many christians. "nothing matters except what we worry about."
@slyjokerg haha yes pretty funny "nothing came before christianity" except judaism was before christianity.
Jesus Americans are fucking extremist. thats why it is the most dangerous country in the world. its run by extremists that think the earth was made 2000 years ago. fucking nuts
@ingenmansland you shouldn't be saying things like "americans are fucking extremist." no.. SOME americans are x y or z. millions and millions of us are not extremists. and christians think that the earth is 6 to 10 thousand years old, not 2000. moronic regardless, but i am just saying that in the interest of accuracy.

@Luke73470 The Bible predated the Greeks...in what way, exactly? The Torah predated Hellenistic Greece?
YawnGod 2 months ago
@YawnGod i meant to say the old testament not the whole bible. and maybe not the whole old testament (or torah) but at least in part. the bible wasnt written all at once. it was written as things happened. and much of what happened in the old testament happened before greek culture was even relevant.
Luke73470 2 months ago
@Luke73470 "it was written as things happened"
Eum, no. Just about any event that was written down in that book (supposedly) took place centuries before they were actually written down in most cases.
The bible in its entirety wasn't even compiled into a single book until like 350 AD (or something). And I'll add that only a minority of scripture circulating during that time found its way into this vile book.
ScientificBob 2 months ago
@ScientificBob yeah but the point is that the jewish faith origionated before greek was relavent. whether it was written or passed down verbally. and i can inderstand why someone maynot appreciate the bible as i do but the fact that you call it a vile book just prooves how close minded you really are.
Luke73470 2 months ago
@Luke73470 "the jewish faith origionated before greek was relavent" Jews aren't christians. Just like christians aren't muslims, eventhough Islam is Judaism 3.0
And by no means was judaism the first religion, so the point is void anyway.
"the fact that you call it a vile book just prooves how close minded you really are" Funny how you can conclude that without knowing why I call it a vile book.

TheELISHABETH 5 months ago

TheELISHABETH 5 months ago
@TheELISHABETH and no it is not logical to conclude that because you see a house and conclude it was created that the flowers were created a well. The reason that we know that the house was created has nothing to do with its complexity or its appearance of design, but because we have thousands of mental examples of houses being created and not occurring naturally.
And if we were to suppose that everything complex has to be designed then what designed god since he is complex?
Netruic 5 months ago
@TheELISHABETH "it should be obvious someone was there before me and built it" This is obvious for two reasons:
1. we OBSERVE humans building houses
2. we know stones and wood do not have the necessary properties needed to self-assemble into a house.
"Would it be logical to conclude that flowers growing resulted just from chance" No, it wouldn't. It's not chance. It's a sensible process of mutation + selection, which is the opposite of "random chance".
ScientificBob 4 months ago
@TheELISHABETH "I know that's a basic truth that where there is design there must be a designer"
Genetic Algorithms make that a demonstrably false statement.
GA's work according to the principles of mutation + selection. These algoritms are perfectly able to design blindly. See the website boxcar2d(dot)com for a nice example.
So now that you have been informed on this, you should now know that design does not imply a designer. It can also imply a natural mechanism that results in design.
ScientificBob 4 months ago
@TheELISHABETH "Do not textbooks present evolution as fact?" That's because it IS a fact, just like gravity. Dogma's have nothing to do with it. Observed genetic change over generation through mutation and selection has everything to do with it.
Evolution is a FACT: life undergoes genetic changes every generation.
Natural Selection is that actual theory of evolution: it explains the mechanism. If natural selection (as a mechanism) is wrong, evolution still happens.
ScientificBob 4 months ago
@ScientificBob wow!!!! if you really think that just because a text book says something is a fact than that means it is than you need help. there isnt anything more biased in this country than our education system!!!!! they teach evolution as a fact out of fear that if they open the subject to multiple ideas than someone might bring up religion. im not even someone who doesnt believe in evolution as a possiblity. but come on. textbooks!! thats ur argument???
Luke73470 2 months ago
@Luke73470 "if you really think that just because a text book says something is a fact than that means it is " I didn't say that. That's what you made of it. Nothing is true by default just "because" a book says it.
"they teach evolution as a fact out of fear " No, they teach evolution as a fact because it IS a fact. And it's not a fact 'because they say so', but because 200 years of rigorous study and research established it as such.
ScientificBob 2 months ago

@Luke73470 "if they open the subject to multiple ideas " Science is ALWAYS open to other ideas.
"than someone might bring up religion" See, the thing is... these ideas that science is ALWAYS open to... need to be supported by a buttload of research, data and experiments. Which religion is most certainly not. Religion only has baseless claims from a book written by goat herders who didn't even realise that the earth orbits the sun instead of the sun the earth...
ScientificBob 2 months ago
@Luke73470 "textbooks!! thats ur argument???" No, that's your strawmen.
My argument consists of 200 years of scientific investigation, experimentation, study, peer review and evidence.
Science is not open to interpretation like religion. In science, something is either supported or it isn't. In science, 'Faith' (= accepting as true without evidence) is a big no-no. In religion, 'faith' is all there is. Which is why it has no place in any scientific context.
ScientificBob 2 months ago
@ScientificBob you really think there is no faith involved in science? that is what you would like to think but your wrong! all the time the science world comes out with new "facts" and alot of times they disproove what they thought was fact 10 or more years before. it sounds to me like scientists put a little to much FAITH in their own intelligence.
Luke73470 2 months ago
@Luke73470 "you really think there is no faith involved in science" I don't think that. I know that.
"alot of times they disproove what they thought was fact 10 or more years before" It's called 'progress'. The very fact that science is falsifiable (= can be disproved) is what makes it the opposite of "faith".
ScientificBob 2 months ago 2
@Luke73470 "it sounds to me like scientists put a little to much FAITH in their own intelligence" So, what do you suggest then? That we don't correct mistakes? We'ld still believe that the sun orbits the earth if it were upto you it seems. Everybody can make mistakes, there is no shame in that. There is MUCH shame in holding dogmatically to a belief without good reason and with no means to falsify or prove it.

Joshua 24:15- Now if it is bad in YOUR eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom YOU will serve, [........ ] "But as for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah."
TheELISHABETH 6 months ago
@TheELISHABETH I don't see how birds and flowers are proof of god, because it presupposes that you already believe in a god. Existence is proof of existence it said nothing about how it got there until you investigate it, and so far all evidence points toward a natural explanation (abiogenesis then evolution).
Since you quoted a bible verse to prove you point I am now curious, why do you believe the bible is correct over the thousands of other religions out there?
Netruic 6 months ago
@Netruic In my research, I have not found scientist to have any proof of exsitence as far as evolution, so until there is any TRUTH as far as any stories of evolution, I would have to believe in the highest power. We humans are much too complicated and had to have such a wonderous designer.
TheELISHABETH 5 months ago

Netruic 5 months ago
@TheELISHABETH So my 3 questions to you summed up in one comment are:
why do you believe the bible is correct over the thousands of other religions out there?
what designed god since he is complex?
what evidence supports creation in the bible?

@Netruic Human brain: Modern computers are a product of intensive research and careful engineering. They did not “just happen.” What about the human brain? Unlike the brain of any animal, the brain of a human infant triples in size during its first year. How it functions is still largely a mystery to scientists. In humans, there is the built-in capacity to learn complex languages, to appreciate beauty,
TheELISHABETH 5 months ago

TheELISHABETH 5 months ago
@TheELISHABETH Part one-There is more known about the human brain than you think, that is why we know about many neurological diseases, neurologist are able to preform brain surgery and so on.
We also know enough to realize that there is no supernatural things going on with the brain such as a soul, that is why when you damage a certain part of the brain the function attributed to that part ceases to function (if you damage the occipital lobe you cant see for example...)
Netruic 5 months ago
@Netruic part two- All of the brains functions such reasoning, empathy, learning are all products of human evolution through natural selection. The humans who and things like empathy and reasoning works well with others and was able to solve problems more efficiently, increasing its chances of survival
nevertheless your argument either way is still an argument from ignorance, saying that because we dont know how something came to be therefore god (i assume is your point and apologize if its not)

@TheELISHABETH Does the Bible allow for the idea that God used evolution to produce the various kinds of living things?

If the estimates of modern-day scientists as to the age of the physical universe are anywhere near correct, Jesus’ existence as a spirit creature began thousands of millions of years prior to the creation of the first human. (Compare Mic 5:2.) This firstborn spirit Son was used by his Father in the creation of all other things. (Joh 1:3; Col 1:16, 17) This would include the millions of other spirit sons of Jehovah God’s heavenly family (Da 7:9, 10; Re 5:11)

@TheELISHABETH Tell is there anything that makes this life of ours more insignificant than the empty and frightening promise of an eternal life?
philster611 6 months ago
@TheELISHABETH Henceforth the imaginative writers of the time borrowed of previous religions and used a "Son of a deity" syndrome.Of interesting note it was never actually a woman, always a man. As we know there is no such thing as a son of God but to the ancient who knew nothing about the physical world, they invented tales of such for a multitude of reasons. Scripture is nothing more than prose. The translation you quote from is the KJV, which is why it is in Shakesperean English....

Jesus Americans are fucking extremist. thats why it is the most dangerous country in the world. its run by extremists that think the earth was made 2000 years ago. fucking nuts
ingenmansland 6 months ago
@ingenmansland you shouldn't be saying things like "americans are fucking extremist." no.. SOME americans are x y or z. millions and millions of us are not extremists. and christians think that the earth is 6 to 10 thousand years old, not 2000. moronic regardless, but i am just saying that in the interest of accuracy.
