  • thumbs up if you came here from Epic Fu

  • What type of pencil did you use to fill in the mouth? Or was it a sharpie or something? :o

  • @pengu39 Hi pengu39. That's a mechanical pencil, but a regular pencil will do just as well. I use H and B leads.

  • I love these videos. I wonder if I'm the only person whose favourite part is when you fill things in, especially with the big wedge-tip Sharpie? There is something SO satisfying about it! Is that weird?

  • @videoaccountforcat Hi cat! Definitely not weird! And you're not alone. Especially early on in the series, people commented on that noise all the time. It's the drawing equivalent of a cat purring, I think. :^)

  • what pen do you use for filling in the big spaces? i use sharpies and when im done drawing the fumes get to my head :(

  • @masterofjello98 I use Sharpies for the big spaces, too. I have a bad sense of smell, so I only notice the fumes when it's a fresh pen. Either way, definitely use in a well-ventilated area!

  • PLease tell me you are willing to sell these.

  • @liox2597 Thank you, liox. The first 100 are available in book form - search for 100 Days of Monsters -- and I'm getting ready to release a limited edition portfolio. You can also commission a monster.

  • @StefanGBucher Ok sweet! How much for all of them? :)

  • @liox2597 Hi liox. Archival prints are $65 each. The limited edition portfolio is going to be $344. And if you'd like a custom drawing that's $344, too. Email me here on YouTube or through my site and we can sort out a price for the whole gang.

  • @StefanGBucher Oh crap... sorry man. Im only thirteen... I dont make that kinda money... Sorry man.

  • @liox2597 Ah! OK. Sorry. Not that you're 13, but that I busted out the ol' price list. If you go to Amazon you can find new copies of the Monster book for 8 bucks. Comes with the first 100 monsters on paper and DVD. If you want you can tear out the pages and hang them like prints. 100 Days of Monsters it's called.

  • @StefanGBucher Well it does suck that I am thirteen, but anyways thanks.

  • no, U r amazing!

  • nice bro

  • Your drawings are so creative and original. I am so inspired by these drawings that i have to ask if you could make a tutorial for your fans

  • @Rob42196 You're very kind, Rob. Thank you! A few sort-of tutorials do exist, but I haven't done one specifically with that in mind. Good idea! It goes on the list. :^)

  • I LOVE watching speed art, lolz, but now I know what you mean by allways a place in your heart, I love it! So creative! If only now a days cartoons were a little more creative and not so, well, BASIC. But um, whats 344?

  • @Clayguy247 Hi Clayguy. 344 is my design firm. :^)

  • @StefanGBucher OOhhhhh

  • are you one of those peopple who could draw amazingly before they could write because these are insanely good. luv them!! :D you have a very creative mind !!

  • Hi there, pokeperson123098. Always busy, never too busy to say Hello. 344 is my studio -- 344 Design. That's what pays for the pens. :^) If those pens are too expensive, just get cheap ones. The pens don't really matter.

  • all your vids are amazeing rofl i like the way u used to papers and at the end was also very creative

  • Thank you very much, Krayonz01607. I'm glad you like the way it turned out. :^)

  • haha that is awesome! 5/5 btw i like to draw monsters 2 but i cant draw so good as you

  • Thank you for the compliment, sneakfreak77. Give it a try, though! It's not hard as long as you have fun! :^)

  • Wow..... thats like with digital animation right? no way its stop motion lol

  • Hello pablolankenau. Yes, it's done in Anime Studio 5. A few of the very early Monsters were stop motion, and it would take WAY too long to do this much animation that way. :^)

  • OMG you can really very good!

    *___________*

  • Herzlichen Dank, xSpirituelx. Freut mich, daß Dir die Monster gefallen. :^)

  • wow good job!!!

  • Thank you very much, soulreaaver. Glad you like it. :^)

  • yeay

  • Thank you, Trutze. :^)

  • I love daily monster :D It's awesome! I actully tried to do one myself once :P didn't get as cool as yours though xP

  • That's excellent, MyMoi93! Do you still have the drawing? If so, why don't you post it in the Open Source Monster section of the dailymonster dot c o m site? I'd love to see it! :^)

  • very good my fav monster in the 100s

  • Yeah, he's a special little guy, Number 100 is. I'm glad you like him, too, commenter12345.

  • I find it impossible that you can write so straight upside-down. o_o You amaze me...

  • Oh, you're too kind, greenlife7. Thank you. It's not that hard, really. It's just a matter of concentration, and not getting screwed up by N's and S's.

  • XD I may have to start practicing then.

And I very much enjoy all you monsters. ^^ Very well done for just impromptu. I would have to spend a lot more time looking at the thing to decide what I would want to with it.

  • #100:

    Species: Egg-Laying Dwarf

    Name: Twingergoo

Story: Twingergoo, sensing the time had come for him to leave, laid his egg, being the only monster species that could do so, grabbed a ride on some guy named 344's hand (a bit hard to do when you're 2 ft. tall, no one can see you), and went to visit his friend, who happens to be #101...

  • im sad they are done.

  • Well, don't despair: I did a second set of 100. You can find them on YouTube, or on my regular site dailymonster - com. :^)

  • Very Nice :)

  • Thank you, radosz14ziom. I'm glad you like it. :^)

  • COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL whats that stuff u blow ink or water color?

  • Hello again, hunhulio. I'm glad you like the monsters. I use sumi ink.

  • that one actually kinda freaks me out

  • Oh yeah? :^D But he's so tame!

  • what is that stuff you bloww across the paper?

  • Hello AZUgraff99. It's ink. Yasutomo sumi ink to be precise. :^)

  • thanks

  • fucking awesome !! =D my favorite ( and I've Seen ALL drawing you've made !! ) I prefer drawing tribal and cars but I like to see your monster !! :P

  • Very cool drawings, stang65production. I'm glad you like mine, too. :^)

  • Really fantastic work. I've been watching since the first one came out! Love the idea, love the execution. Congrats!

  • Thank you, EmmaMacks. I'm very happy to hear that! Thank you for sticking with the monsters so faithfully!

  • WOW! I love that! ^.^ Do you just use sharpies to draw that or something? that's awesome! ^.^ And the animation it brilliant!!

  • Hi Emmynemm. You're very kind. Thank you! I'm glad you like the monsters. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink on regular old uncoated bond paper.

  • hi! i'm 10 years old and when i grow up, i hope to draw as well as you. you are awsome!

  • Hi there zoaxy. Time is all it takes. Just keep drawing and keep having fun with it, and your eyes and your hands will become a team!

  • OMG Stefan you are a brilliant boy oh ya finaly is finished ---100--- !!!

  • Hi amelianez. You're so sweet. Thank you! Of course, now the monsters continue week by week. I'm up to 127.

  • Stefan, I suspect your ingenious work is influenced by the sacred herb. Am I right?

  • Hello UFOIST. You are not, I'm afraid. In fact, the only substance at work here is sugar. I've never partaken of herb or alcohol, and now I don't even have caffeine anymore. This is what's going on in my head naturally. Substances, sacred or otherwise, would probably make me want to do my taxes. :^D

  • that is very cool but may i ask what gave you the idea for the daily monsters

  • Hello giddihar. The first monster appeared to me as I was driving. I had an image of it in my head, climbing up my arm, and I thought "I should draw you, shouldn't I?"

The Daily part came about simply because I liked the ring of the phrase "Daily Monster." So I had to step up and do it.

  • brilliant!

    i like it very much!

  • amazing ^^

  • sweet thnx alot bro! and hey im a newb animator on the making but i would apreciate if ou check my stuff see what you think ^_^ cya...

  • Hi Blindconcept. I really like the ANIMA snippet on your page. All three clips look great, actually. Nice work!

  • Hey Stefan, you rock bro, I like the technique you have and this whole daily monster thing is really original. How do you animate them?

  • Hi Blindconcept. Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you like the monsters. To animate the later ones I used a $50 piece of software called "Anime Studio 5."

  • So what is the speed up ratio? (I ask because I am curious of how long you spend on an entire monster. Of course this one took longer!)

  • Hello Mrevilbobguy. The original drawings take between 5 and 12 minutes. A few very rare monsters will take up to 20---like 106, for example, because of all the cross-hatching.

  • That was fantastic!

  • im always become sad if i watch this. i love/ed what u ve done stefanGbucher!!

  • Thank you, bendegooZe. That's very kind of you. Yeah, #100 was sort of bittersweet. But the monsters go on, of course, here and on the site. we're up to #110 and people are submitting really amazing Open Source MOnsters, too!

  • i'll try =D

  • btw what do you use to animate them????

i want to animate some drawings to

  • I use a $50 piece of software for the Mac called Anime Studio 5. It's a bit labor intensive, but it's easy to use and it gets the job done. Send me your clips when you're done! I'd love to see them!

  • yay this 1 is my favorite!! i like him/her very much

    realy stefan youre so great

  • Oh, thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying the monsters!

  • aaa to much insperation going to explo-BOOM....lol

  • HEHE thanks but my real name is Gláucio...

  • Iwill never make something like this... becouse i don't know haow to make... You have made a very good work.

  • Thank you, GrAuBe. I appreciate your kind words. (By the way, I thought your name was composed of three elements: Au=Gold, Be=Beryllium, but there's no Gr. The closest would be Cr=Chromium. Oh well... )

  • Hey these are amazing i was just wondering what kind of in you used to blow on with the straw just incase i am not getting the consitency right or what you did if you could just post that would be great thanks

  • Hi lokimoon00. I'm glad you like the monsters. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink.

  • are you influenced by shel silverstein in anyway???

  • You know.. I'm not. I didn't know about him until your post. But I went to shelsilverstein-com and I love the stuff---particularly the rhino with the wooden wings. How cool is that? Thank you for putting him on my radar. My influences are more in the direction of Ralph Steadman and Hans-Georg Rauch by way of Emeryville, New New York, and Tokyo.

  • i looked at there work, thats pretty insane.. but i thought i saw some resemblince between your work and shels.. but you have some great work

  • how did u make the animation at the end?

  • Hi Manjankan. I use Animation Studio 5 on the Mac. Took 14 hours with all the rendering and re-rendering. Lots of trial and error. :^)

  • nice monsters :) what kind of markers/pens do you use?

  • Hello, Long Sequence of Numbers! I'm glad you like the monsters. I use Faber-Castell PITT artist pens, Staedtler pigment liners, Tombo ABT pens, Sharpies (fine point and wedge tip), and Yasutomo Sumi ink.

  • Stefan, will you marry me? :o

  • Yes. ;^)

  • this guy obviously had to go and have its teeth checked :-)

  • how can u put it on your hand??

  • Lots of work, lots of work. :^)

  • then it's a secret??

    well it looks really awesome...

    you're really cool

can't wait for your next post

  • Oh, not a secret really. :^) Just lots of animation. I'm glad you like it!

  • how do you smear it?

  • I blow on a drop of ink with a straw... very low-tech.

  • but it makes it look so cool. thats amazing that it goes like that. i think i want to try this sometime, exept i cant draw for my life. yeah, i just wont post it like you. lol

  • this is soooo coool!

is this really your last you will post?

  • Hello xKissesXFromXSasukex. i'm glad you like the monsters. After a few weeks off I just started the Weekly Monster. The first one is already on YouTube now, the second is only at dailymonster-com. Basically, I'll always post the creatures at dailymonster-com first, and then on YouTube a week later. Please check it out!

  • cool. i definitely will.

  • he man!! good job! this is a real Cartoons, like old fashion style, i mean, drawing with your hands.. GOOD!!

  • que chido mijis....!!! te amamos..

  • i've noticed how u draw everything and write everything upside down. its pretty interesting

  • this one's great! It looks so happy

  • thank you so much for all of these amazing monsters :]

  • That little egg should resemble the future monsters to come... like start off with that egg and it hatching will be the next one, if there is anymore, just not daily

  • aww! i saw the first one on accident and i had to watch them all! took me three days, but i did it! now im sad that theyre over. almost like i had a relationship with each monster. i loved making up stories in my head and reading all the backgrounds people made for them at your site. very, very awesome work! im gonna stay subscribed just because if i ever need a creative boost, i can have somewhere to turn! thank you so much for all of your monsters!

  • Hello again, buzzmeyellow. It's like watching a TV show on DVDs after the fact, isn't it? Thank you for absorbing all 100 monsters. There will be more clips in the future... just no longer anywhere near Daily. :^) Definitely stay tuned for more!

  • I Really like your monster sketches. It must've been kind of hard spelling backwords in a way... Great work!.. =) That certainly takes allot of talent!.. pratice, hard work & determination. O&BTW The sketches kind of remind me of illistrations from the famous children's book Where the wild things are a little bit. Very neat animation too!

  • Thank you, GOTHMIDNIGHTMERMAID. I appreciate that, and will certainly accept a comparison to Maurice Sendak. :^) The backwards and upside down writing actually gets easy very quickly. It's only a matter of concentration, really.

  • good job

  • what do you use to record yourself?

  • I've used a friend's DV camera for the last 20. Before that it was my Sony Cybershot DCP-200.

  • it's been fun. thanks a lot. wonderful work.

  • We are going to miss our dose of daily monster! Thank you so much for sharing this. These are amazing little monsters... every one of them!

  • Great work, it was a great ride. Looking forward to your future endeavors.

  • This has been a great series. Thanks for sharing your monsters :)

  • Brilliant! But so sad. *sniffle* I fell behind and have to catch up. Loved the animated bits! Very cool and Monty Pythonesque!

  • Thank you Stefan.

  • Thank you for the kind words, everybody. It's been really fun to make the monsters for you. There is definitely more to come (after a little break.:^) For one thing, I'll start posting the WEEKLY MONSTER in April...

  • Awesome animation loved the wave at the end :p

  • What a wonderful way to finish the series out. I haven't caught up with all of them yet, but I'm working my way through the early monsters (I started about 83 and worked my way back..I'm in the 30's now). One thing, your archive is missing one, I think #58. Any chance of that being uploaded at some point?

  • Hello NezumiWorks. Thank you for alerting me to the missing 58. I just uploaded it for you now. I hope you'll like it.

  • Yeah, I'm sad that the series is over... and I keep subscribed too^^. The monsters are really awesome!

And thank you that you made the 100thst monster that rad dents like the 99thst one!!!

  • It's a pity that the Daily Monster series is over. Hope to see other terrific art work from you soon on YouTube. I keep subscribed.

  • Wonderful as always...
