The issue is that no other religion charges you money before telling you what the religion is all about. In order for consumers to make a reasoned choice they must have the facts on what they are buying.

Tithes are voluntary. Donations are REQUIRED to advance to "salvation" in Scientology. People are never told give 12K to other churches/mosques or Jesus/Muhammad won't save you.

@OpenComments on the matter of scientology, and i agree with what you were saying before, but for me it's not the hijacking of the term "religion" that i'm pissed off about, but rather the hijacking of science (knowledge) and the suffix -logy (study). it has absolutely nothing to do with the study of knowledge and is as far as i can tell, entirely based on speculation.

No mosque asks you money for Muhammad to save you, I think this is clear if you have the slightest idea of what the religion containing these two words is about.

To be honest, this whole consumer-based religious "movement" or however anyone would call it, I find it very disturbing, simply because religion is not and shouldn't be about money.

Religion is about free personal spiritual awakening and communication with The Creator, and is not just some corporate joke.

And I don't disagree with you. I was merely pointing out to SuperTube that Scientology is not comparable to other religions by describing that the abuses committed in the name of Scientology are done by policies rather than individuals. They're not only done by the organization, but encouraged. I was also stating the difference between donations in Scientology and donations in other religions.

I don't dispute freedom of religion. When I say Scientology is a criminal mind control cult, I mean the way that it is run, i.e. by the Scientology management.

People have the right to believe what they want, but upper management does not have the right to lie, cheat, steal, or harass critics.

It's not about the beliefs at all; It's the bait and switch and the destructive official policies the Church of Scientology holds. If you go to any other religion and ask what they're all about they'll tell you. Free of charge. However, in Scientology you don't really learn what the religion is about until you've already invested some 300,000 US dollars into it.
