You pick up this working girl Who's hooked on smack Who hustles and scores That's all I do, she says She says, ten bucks for head, fifteen for half and half She says, three hits a day at thirty-five per You say, that's seven tricks a day at least But she says, sometimes I get lucky Once this guy gives me a bill and a half just to eat me Only time I ever came You figure you can save her
trying to sell ur shoes u tell them who u are but they nail u then she happens by& she says christ u look fucked she says hang tough but u dont say anything
u just think what a bum rap for a nice sensitive guy like me...was all i found
u figure u can save her u sell your color TV that keeps her off the streets a whole day u hawk ur typewriter for 1?_?then ur shotgun ur watch a week later u say listen im a little short she says no scratch no snatch u say look it is better to give
but she says be gone creep one night they spot u on the street skipping
u pick up this working girl hooked on smacked who hustles & scores thts all i do she says she says $10 for head 15 for half&half she says 3 hits a day at 35 per u say that 7 trip a day at least but she says sometimes i get lucky
once this guy gives me a bill& a half just to eat me only time i ever came
It the way this tune sends you on a journey, "you are sleeping". your life is a dream, you meet a girl that meets your expectations. "You figure you can save her", she shows you who she is but "you do not want to believe" because your dreaming and you end up "not saying anything at all" and just thinking, " what a bum wrap for a nice sensitive guy like me". She doesn't even recognise you and walks by. "christ you look fucked".
"You figure you can save her. You sell your color TV. It keeps her off the streets a whole day. You hawk your typewriter for one joe, then your shotgun, your watch. A week later, you say listen, I'm a little short, but she says no scratch, no snatch. You say look, it's better to give, but she says beat off creep. One night, they spot you on the street for skimming, trying to sell your shoes. You tell them who you are, but they nail you. Then she happens by and she says christ, you look f*cked."

I can someone point me in the right direction of finding the sample of the man talking... I found that it was from a NY radio show but that's all, its driving me crazy..
@LBesquire Nah, it's "snatch", because it's referring to prostitution. She's a "working girl", not a drug dealer. Plus the two words rhyme. Hehe, trust me, the lyrics to this song have been questioned so many times by people, and everytime, it's "no scratch, no snatch."
you gotta listen to this one right after FortDax's "Fortune Telling Fish, Curled To Suggest 'Home' " for the full effect -- Holden's mixing is so spot on
-"the monologue is from a radio personality in new york"
-"...any more info on that?"
-"ah i dont remember, i just know that i had a hard time finding out. get on google and just search for the lyrics
sorry"
"Petro and I were just talking about this track, and apparently it uses samples of EVP (electronic voice phenomena). Pretty fuckin eerie, man. Especially after listening to the original again." - houseaddict forums

it's "7 tricks a day", not "7 trip." she's a hooker, not a hippy.

this is a good version. i think james holden's and deep dish's remixes are better. JH is so out there. the DD mix is so primal.

These are the greatest words ever spoken in a dance track. The writing, whatever it is from, just makes me cringe in awe.
Luke and PQM have done such a great job making the sounds compliment the story.
