What a beautiful song. I was hoping to hear the version by Glenn Yarbrough & The Shaw Brothers, which I think is better than The Irish Rovers' version here. But it's hard to top Yarbrough's voice! and this is good too!
I was stationed in New Port, R.I. back in '81 when they had the parade of tall ships. What beautiful visions!!! I believe this song came out about that time.
Luigi, sorry, my memory is not what it used to be. But, I do remember the glorious visions of those "Tall Ships" sailng down the sound at NewPort. I have seen them, have you? I was there!!!=Stefan=

One of my all time favorites, I have the original album took me years to find it on CD but was well worth the time when I finally found it.

could someone spare the lyrics for Missionary's Child from this album?
I am Russian so I am afraid that I missed something in text.
Tried to google for it, but failed :(

I love the grand old ships, and hope one day to sail on them again--it's a treat granted to few in this time.

@chengloki Actually I think this may be connected to the USA's bicentennial in 1976.
