Problem with a sale and use ban on fireworks is that you would get allsorts of unsafe unregulated dangerous european and chinese import fireworks being sold thru the blackmarket that are far more lethal to set off and use than the regulated BS7114 manufacturer endorsed retail garden and display items.

Fireworks if used properly don't cause problems. They should, according to instructions be

(a)Placed upright on a flat level surface before lighting,

(b)Buried in a bucket of sand/earth before lighting,

(c)Fastened to a wooden stake driven into the ground with gaffa tape before lighting(this instruction is usually indicated with"attach securely to an upright post"),

(d)Bury two thirds deep in soft ground and angle away from spectators,buildings,trees and other obstructions before lighting.

I've had many years involved in roman candle wars, bottle rocket wars, artillary shell wars, and just plain old redneck style fun. never anything serious happened. just some bruises contact burns and loss of a few mustache and beard hairs from lighting the fuses with my camel (the only way). So i sorta Lol'd at first, then i felt sorry, i guess it sucked in the hospital, and in pain for a little girl. as for me experience and pain and consumer explosives=one hell of a time.

we have a snall garden and live in walton. because of this, something always goes wrong with a firework. in 2007, a fireworld started shooting round the garden and exploding at the same time. I was surrounded by sparks and my brothers pants pants where burnt. there may not have been any injuries at all but there could have been injuries if we whern't all standing next to my back door. This shows you that you have to be carful around firerworks

Fireworks aren't dangerous basically, you just need to know how to handle them. I mean, she was seven, and children are generally susceptible to harm, so it's not really surprising she got burned.

Me and a friend were sat around a garden table and launching fireworks out of the central hole when one stuck and didn't leave the tube...we absolutely shat ourselves and managed to get a couple of meters away before it blew. We couldn't hear ANYTHING for about five minutes ^_^

As she mentioned about on this video, fireworks are really dangerous. But most of children who want to let off fireworks dont know how to use it properly. Moreover, there are some defective fireworks in our markets. So I think we should read the instructions before letting it off and we should check the company or country where made the products.

I had a firework shot up my bare arse, it became wedged in there and exploded. However people did poor cold beer over my rear end and scrotal sack which helped. I ended up with a large scar on either cheek and a large one on my scrotum.I found it hard to walk for a week but it was fine otherwise. But i would strongly advise this!!

Huh. Down in Tennessee on 4th July, you can get some outstanding pyrotechnics at 24 hour supermarkets, we were lighting rockets and chucking them into the air before they fired, using mortars as hand grenades, and never EVER seen anyone burned by them. know it was a freak accident but that doesn't matter to people that just want to ban them completely. I grew up in Southern California and remember when we could have fireworks for personal usage. Not anymore..for a LONG time. Banning helps the police and the fire department not have to make a bunch of extra calls. It's not all about safety in my opinion. First they ban private usage now they are going after public displays. That is so sad and over kill.

How often does a rogue firework happen? Chances are that it is going to happen and that is the risk you take by being around them. The video comes across stating they are educating people about firework safety but fails to give any suggestions. Fear tactics is all it leaves the viewer with.

hi 5. we should have a fireworks injury soc. i was burned on the right arm (x2) and chest with a roman candle when it fell over. fun. still have the scars.. :(

You poor thing! This last July I got hit by a Roman candle (essentially a flare) square in my back, and it permanently scarred me as well. It is a scary, painful thing to go through, and I don't understand why others don't understand the severity of the danger.

i burned myself with 5 grams of flash powder in a test. it burned my hair and one hand a bit. plus it was like looking into a welder light for two long. it two weeks to heal. it was painfull also. i was lucky. also use a fuse in a test. plus read safty guides before playing with fire. always use low amounts like under a gram weight to test. flash powder is very fast to burn. faster than sound. flash powder is very dangerous, i found out the hard way. plus its illegal in most states.
