The version I LOVE, and can't find anymore is different. At the section that begins at 1:31 the lone trumpet plays a counter line to the violins. It hits a high note, and holds it. Simply gorgeous!!! I can't find any version of that!
I love this song so much! I can't imagine why anyone would do the Wedding March when they could have this!
This was played in the church at my Confirmation when we came in. But was not called simply Trumpet Voluntary, but The Prince Of Denmark's March. It sounded so cool in the church. You felt like a royal. 350 people in the church.
My orchestra is playing a shortened version of this, and it sounds really cool. I play cello, and the hardest part about this is the vibrato, which I still fail at. DX
I find the presence of 2 choired clavicembalo disposition very objectionable. Organ and theorbo would make it sublime. Believe or not, Theorbo & organ resonate to each other. If you tape microphone capsule on them including trumpet & analyze with sweeping oscilloscope, then would you know that clavicembalo has too much distortion like guitars rhat I have no use as continuo or accompaniment.
I'd like to register my objection to your statement. I like this recording how it is. I think this is the best way to play the piece. This instrumentation, and a trumpet that can do trills.
Did you listen to the "Concerto for two trumpets and orchestra" by Antonio Vivaldi, performed by Maurice Andre, all by himself??? it's also awesome !!!
I am inclined to agree with anne.Maurice Murphy is an eceptional trumpet player, one of the finest in the world and he just makes every piece of music sound better. This is my favourite piece and made all the more enjoyable thanks to Mr.Murphy
I played this song before. 3rd part.i was a backup,.so I only had one day to practice

i'm going to have this played when i walk down the aisle at my wedding someday :)
pinkvespa95 1 year ago
@pinkvespa95 I had this at my wedding, as the "outmarch" (sorry, don't know what it's called in Eglish).
A tip if you really want to have this: Have a real trumpeteer (?) playing. It its beuatiful on the organ, but it should be played an trumpet.
Nevertheless I felt like a real queen that day. :-)

for my taste, there are too many strings. more trumpets should have been used.

I can now see the epicness in this song, before I used to play this one myself, I guess it's not the same if you play it alone :P
