This may sound silly, but I don't know how drummers get that coordination down, especially drumming while singing lyrics. Just decades of practice I guess.
As a drummer I can say that just for playin' on Tommy Bolin's "Marching powder" song, Narada can be considered as one of the best drummer of the story...but honestly after that performance I can't find something very interesting in his playing...
Had no idea it was Randy J. on that wicked bass. One of my favorite tunes amongst many of NMW's great boogie tunes. They are not here on the tube, which is a shame. Check out his albums Victory and Confidence.

That was about 5 mins too short. And it could have done without that hairy wanker Dave Lee Travis making an appearance! I never liked him, him or that Steve Wright...pair of tossers! @Spiderwebsider Totally agree, these are REAL musicians who fucking own their instruments. That applies to more than just Disco music though, some really good rock artists back then too. The state of the fucking U.K singles chart now is awful, it is littered with X factor darlings, rap, R&B(Not the R&B I think of) with only the odd really good singer, band, thrown in now and again. Also this cringeworhty so called new sound of over produced, mega synthed, vocoded bollocks.

The guitarist is playing a doubleneck, an obvious hint to John McLaughlin. But that is probably a copy by Ibanez, and not the real deal. The "Double Rainbow" guitar was handmade by a guy called Ray Bouge.
Randy Jackson is really a GREAT bass player. listen to him groove on that funky ass bass line that he makes look so easy. man i'll tell ya to me, that bass line takes over the whole song. GO RANDY!!!

The maxim goes: "Never argue with a fool -- people cannot tell the difference." I'm not sure whether teaching a fool is also regarded as foolishness, but here goes:
A vociferous idiot happened upon what he regarded as a putrid scatological pile. Instead of quickly passing along, he stopped to inhale deeply, heave out as similar a pile as he could, and go off on a rant, loudly cursing whosoever birthed the spectacle. Judge for yourself who in this fable might be your '''twat'''...

...the music produced by African-America, when mainstream executives ('white' lawyers and accountants) got involved from the mid/late 1980s onwards for the business potential, music progressively became more generic. The formulaic sound of just a few 'hit-making' producers was made ubiquitous. The situation was exacerbated by just a few industry conglomerates running the whole show. That said, I do agree that there is always good stuff available: one simply needs to seek it out...

la verdad es que cuando escucho esta cancion, casi se me saltan las lagrimas, recordando los buenos momentos de mi juventud que me hiao pasar Narada Michael Walden.Fue una cancion himno en la discoteca que yo iba.
Thanks .... For insight I do know him .. for records he one of the DJ that made sure dance and disco didn't make it in mid to late 70's check out floaters, Jackson ,emotions all number one in uk mid 70's I love disco and dance....from sad old 40 something disco boy/man now
Oh,you mean Dave Lee Travis, I think his nickname was the "Hairy Cornflake" haha! Yeah! he used to be a bit irritating, but he used to play good music in the morning, I remember him playing tracks from EW&F's I
Am a few days b4 it was out and going crazy about it!
I think he must be in a "Home for useless DJ's" somewhere haha!
What's really incredible is the Ibanez Artwood the guitarist is playing - the tribute to the Rex Bogue "Double Rainbow" that John McLaughlin played in the Mahavishnu Orchestra - where Narada got his first big gig.
Oh! you mean the guitar that Corrado Rustici is playing. Did you know that he used to play in a Fusion band called Nova? Narada produced an album for them. That's the great thing about Narada he did fusion, rock, funk, disco, pop,r&b and he did it well! Very Talent Geezer!
Wow! you do know ur stuff! haha, but it's actually Randy Jackson! (American Idol) on Bass. In fact (this is gonna sound wanky, haha!) I've meet Narada a few times, I've even been to his studio twice and hung out with him! he's a lovely guy, very inspiring to me as a musician and a person. I did ask him about some of his videos, some of which he couldn't remember! he was going to sort some out for me, but it didn't happen! haha! Man you know ur stuff!
=)) thank you, you know your stuff too. oh is he randy jackson? hmm yeah he is=) he's responsible for Whitney, Mariah & Shanice catapulting them to stardome. he's a great guy, a magician=)
But T.M Stevens did play the bass on the original track and on all of the "Dance Of Life" Album, so it was easy for you to make the assumption that he was playing in the video.
you're right he played the bass on 'dance of life', I thought Randy looks more slim but he's not. I'm gonna upload the 2. edition of The Real Thing-Can You Feel The Force video very soon, I've been lookin for UK Players, Central Line vids and all the UK JazzFunk acts.
into brit rock & hard rock/metal. funk is getting stronger here in a slow motion, nonetheless I won't give up listening to Narada & other funk/soul icons. If I'm not mistaken there is another video for 'Tonight I'm Alright', as well as some vid's from 'victory' album? It seems you're the special agent of UK jazz/funk=)
Wow! you know ur stuff! haha,I love "Victory" some really good tracks on there! I remember buying it when it was out! yes! there is a video for "Tonight I'm alright" but I've never seen it! I've been looking for it on some "cough" sites! haha!
My pleasure! but I've looked at your profile and I notice ur nearly half my age!(I'm 43) haha! How come a young guy like you into the late 70's and early 80s stuff? It's good that you are, but I seem to be meeting a lot of people of ur age who are in to this stuff, haha!
I'm a special agent about 70's & 80's funk&soul&hip-hop, when the music were real music. generally as you stated above a lot of people around are interested about this stuuf but in my home town we are limited prior to this. %90 of youngsters are
I see! I love a lot the stuff that's out there now,(I think Pharrell is a really great songwriter on a good day, "Beautiful" is amazing!) but ur right,70's & 80's funk&soul&hip-hop was more real then, it felt good, it made you feel good!...
...I these days there's too much hype, attitude, & over produced stuff! In fact some of it of late has been trying to copy the 70s & 80s sound ie Nelly's Promiscous(which I love!)& Gwen Steffani, stuff which makes me laugh because a few years ago, they didn't want to know!! haha!
I'll see if I've got somemore vids from that era and if I do,i'll put them up!
I'm a dj, I do play promiscous every night, cool song, as well as 'maneater'. I2ve been trying to keep my ears away from nuskool wave but I was told to play these tunes, sexyback, london bridge etc.. you're right about that lately they've been trying to copy oldskool sound and some of them are success.
Hi mate! how's things in Germany? haha! well you know how I like my late 70s early 80s funk/disco! I'm gonna have to look for some new clips to put up.
I never seen a drummer sing lead before. That's different. I didn't know Narada sang that song. That song was a big hit back in the 79 and the 80's.

Why on earth did Narada decide to do DISCO? His 1st album is on my top ten all time best. And it's out of print. What a waste of talent.

Stevenarada 5 years ago
=)) thank you, you know your stuff too. oh is he randy jackson? hmm yeah he is=) he's responsible for Whitney, Mariah & Shanice catapulting them to stardome. he's a great guy, a magician=)
waxwarrior03 5 years ago
But T.M Stevens did play the bass on the original track and on all of the "Dance Of Life" Album, so it was easy for you to make the assumption that he was playing in the video.
Stevenarada 5 years ago
you're right he played the bass on 'dance of life', I thought Randy looks more slim but he's not. I'm gonna upload the 2. edition of The Real Thing-Can You Feel The Force video very soon, I've been lookin for UK Players, Central Line vids and all the UK JazzFunk acts.
waxwarrior03 5 years ago
into brit rock & hard rock/metal. funk is getting stronger here in a slow motion, nonetheless I won't give up listening to Narada & other funk/soul icons. If I'm not mistaken there is another video for 'Tonight I'm Alright', as well as some vid's from 'victory' album? It seems you're the special agent of UK jazz/funk=)
waxwarrior03 5 years ago
Wow! you know ur stuff! haha,I love "Victory" some really good tracks on there!

Stevenarada 5 years ago
I'm a special agent about 70's & 80's funk&soul&hip-hop, when the music were real music. generally as you stated above a lot of people around are interested about this stuuf but in my home town we are limited prior to this. %90 of youngsters are

I see! I love a lot the stuff that's out there now,(I think Pharrell is a really great songwriter on a good day, "Beautiful" is amazing!) but ur right,70's & 80's funk&soul&hip-hop was more real then, it felt good, it made you feel good!...
Stevenarada 5 years ago
...I these days there's too much hype, attitude, & over produced stuff!
Stevenarada 5 years ago
I'm a dj, I do play promiscous every night, cool song, as well as 'maneater'. I2ve been trying to keep my ears away from nuskool wave but I was told to play these tunes, sexyback, london bridge etc.. you're right about that lately they've been trying to copy oldskool sound and some of them are success.
waxwarrior03 5 years ago
I hate "london Bridge" but I like fergie! haha, ah!ur a Dj, now it all makes sense!
