  • Very Nice. I like the Drag pipes. Check out my vid.

  • Of course the Cobra pipes sound better. For the "Stock guys" ... simply remove the baffles and you`ll get a much more attention getting rumble quite like the pipes on this video. If you want to really turn the heads get a set of Cobra Drag pipes...oh and an 1800 VTX as well...LOL

  • This bike sounds way better than the VTX 1800 with the dual crank pin.

  • Sounds great. I like my Cobra Slashbacks too - same bike.

  • Could you please help me ? I have the opportunity right now to buy a 2006 VTX 1800 with 12k miles on it, excellent shape, for under $8,000 . He claims he gets 40-50 mph...is this true for this bike ? ANything you can share with me would be helpful like its reliability record, etc... Thanks, Dave.

  • I highly doubt it. My 1300 got about 40 or 42. With a bigger displacement and if he has after market pipes you would probably see in the low 30's maybe middle 30's. Thats a beast of an engine. My harley has a 1584 cc motor and I get upper 30's with after market pipes and a more free flowing air filter. I would rely more on the Honda than a Harley. VTX's are bullet proof bikes. Low maintenance. Shaft driven water cooled. Pick it up if you realy like it. Fun bike that you can do so much to.

  • Thanks for the info. Ive since found a 2005 VTX1300C in mint condition with Vance Hines pipes , 10 k.. miles, for asking price of $4,000 . I think it could be had for $3600 as they really want to be rid of it . Hopefully going to close on the sale today. Im pretty excited as its a heck of a deal. No windshield though but ill get one installed. David.

  • Hi is that a carb bike? i got a guy selling me that same bike for 3 grand and its only got 3,000 miles on it. I feel like ill be getting a good deal.. same color too! :D

  • @redneck500 Thats a great deal on a used 1300! Want some info head over to VTXCAFE . com

  • @mgulley82 shit, the guy selling me the bike is kind of avoiding me now. im kinda wondering if he even had the bike to begin with! Dammit, i dont want to spend 5 grand on the son of a bitch LOL

  • I've got an '07 VTX c I cant wait to get a pair of these pipes on my bike. Now if only we could drive more then just the summer (from wisconsin as well.)

  • I've got an '05 1300C. Sounds just like my Vance and Hines big shots. I had mine rejetted and the only difference was WAY better gas milage and the new jets throttled down quicker, making down shifting more efficient and cranking the throttle to show off the sound a little better then the slow throttle down the stock jets do. Good looking bike though.

  • The stock pipes sound like the Cobra slip-ons I put on my Suzuki S50. Speedster longs look sharp and sound great.

  • If $ was not an issue I think most people would go with the Cobra Speedster Longs. I know I would. But, I am content with the Clayton deep Mod. (5' first plate, 3 @ 5/8, bottom, and 2 @ 1/2 top . 4, second plate, 2 @ 5/8, bottom, and 2 @ 1/2 top ). Why? $. Do I like the sound? Absolutely. Would I like a set of Cobra's over the mod? Absolutely. But, short of $. Point. The issue is $. Not sound. For me anyway.

  • nice Vid, I always wondered what my 1300x sounded like, I have the cobra dragsters,. I like the grips, did you install them?

  • Nice sounding bike. I'm about to purchase a bike and I'm starting to favor the Honda VTX 1300 or 1800. I'm thinking a 1300 should be powerful enough for a 1st bike. What do you think about the Honda Fury?

  • wow 1300 sucks my dads got an 1800 with a aftermarket exhaust. it reallly loud and reallly fast

  • your dad? LOL fucking tool... tell your daddy to pull it out of your ass while your at it.

  • Wow, I have the same bike, same color. I drilled out my pipes cuz I couldn't afford new ones, and they sound pretty good. Definately much better than stock, but not this good.

  • Wow, Cobra sounds so much more ... sick... I think that's good right? Cool eh? Loud and sickly sounding is much better... I think you are going after. You got it on this one. Almost as good "sick" as Harley. Keep trying someday you will get a sound almost as good (sick) as Harley. When you want performance, not just bark, let us know. We were all 13yo once.

  • I am glad I live in central Texas, you wont see that f***in snow here. That would suck bad to live wherever that is.......yuck

  • You're an idiot.

  • Looks just like any old American bike. Plus, Harleys aren't anywhere near as realiable as Hondas. Its fact. I want a good bike, I'd prefer American, but if they can't provide, they can't provide.

  • @jcthawaii what's your point?

  • I actually like the stock pipes much better, but that's just me. The new pipes look great, sweet bike.

  • Sounds much much better with the aftermarket exhaust. I don't understand why the most of the other cruiser Japanese bikes don't use shaft-drive any more.

  • that first one was stock? that doesn't sound too bad for a stock exhaust actually.

  • Ha! Pureluck2, and slm2500 have nothing better to do but have piss fests online. Fagots.

By the way, cool bike. I've got a Roadstar- love metric bikes.

  • Since Hardly Davisin is an amerikan company, and the bike is not reliable and all Hardlys leak oil, I would recommend NOT buying amerikan. You will be happier with the Honda, plus the chrome won't rust like a Hardly's chrome.

  • You are truly an ignorant motherfucker as evident by your spelling.Good job, stupid.

  • sounds like a real bike now!!!!

  • Hey bro, I have the same exact bike, year, color and cc! I have the stock pipes still, perhaps I will go Cobra as well, they sound kick arse!! Thanks for the vid.

  • Haha people quit arguing. I mean it's obvious that the most dependable bike is Honda, but Harleys aren't bad either. Ride what you like. Some prefer harley, some prefer honda.

  • Good sounding bike with the new pipes, did the pipes have the baffles still in or was it without baffles?

  • They still have the baffles in them.

  • Hey bud quick question I am 6'3" and I was wondering how tall you were cause I'm moving from a shadow 750 (which is too small and underpowered for me) to either the 1300R or the 1800 and I wanted to be comfortable on the bike, you looked comfi on yours

PS I think da cobra sounds GREAT! much respect to da stock sound too (cant forget da stock guys)

  • I'm 6'1" and it fits me just fine. I now have the Cobra Fatty's freeway bars and foot pegs attached to them. Now I fit great and can stretch out. I suggest getting them if your tall as it will provide needed comfort plus they look good.

  • @MrKissmirass The 1800 is a bit more sluggish compared to it's little sister. Probably has something to do with it's double pin crank set up...just sayin.

  • I still think this is one of the coolest sounding bikes on youtube. good work!

  • Great video. I am from Michigan and own a 2005 VTX S model. I recently installed Cobra Speedster Longs and really like them! Girlfriend thinks they are to loud but I think they are just right! Thanks for the time and effort to do the video.

  • I am originally from "da UP yaaaaaaaaahhhh Hey!" LOL

  • I love the sound of the stock pipes! It compliments the bike. If you ever ride 400-600 miles a wk-end like we do, I think you would be tired of the loudness and vibration. Where do you live to have that much snow? Michigan? HA That is where I was born and raised.

  • The cobra pipes put out the sound far enough behind you so they don't bother your ears. I live in Wisconsin and was born in Michigan.

  • What`s fonts did you use in video? Very nice!

  • I think I prefer the stock exhausts, to be honest. Nice video though, appreciate the reference material to help people like me get an idea of the bike.

  • Why you have a seat on a motorcycle on the right ? ))

  • I liked the sound of both, but if the Cobras make the snow disappear, I vote for the Cobras

  • Those grips look really nice. Gotta love this bike. The VTX1300R is the first bike I have ever owned and ridden.

  • Love the solo seat! Where'd you get it? I haven't been able to find one for my 06 1300c. Is it comfortable and does it allow for a little reclining?

  • Stock seat. The R models come with a two seat configuration. The C models have on long seat.

  • *drools* the sound is so sweet....

  • If You can't tell the difference, then you desereve Rice!

  • What brand are the handlebar grips you've got on there?

  • Kuryakyn Universal Iso Grips, Throttle Boss, Accent Rings, and Stiletto End Caps. You can't go wrong with the setup. I love them. They bring the bike out.

  • Only problem Ive found with the Hypercharger on the 1300 - Ive got a friend who has a 1300 put a hypercharger on his when it rains or when it's real cold he has problems keeping his bike warmed up and running because the hypercharger sucks all the cold air in and rains - fine in the summer - poor in the winter. Just what Ive observed - would probably work great on the 1800 being as it's fuel injected - not so great on a bike with a carb

  • Usually people rarely ride in the winter anyways.....

  • Hey that sounds bad ass im getting a 2007 Vtx 1300R tomm and i want some now pipes im thinking HK3 but know im thinking Cobra Speedster longs witch would would say is the best since you have the Cobras i guess those lol

  • I got the HK3 RES tech and absolutely love them.

  • Sounds like a classic big block muscle car. Much better than a Hardly, which sound like broken washing machines.

  • to quote the youngster... aweshum.

  • Nice Video, Cobra should pay you, cause you just sold them a set... Thanks!

  • Thanks for the comparison, but I think I will stick with my stock pipes for now. I like the quiet smooth sound I'm getting now. When you go long distances I think the loud pipes tire you out more. (loud sound and vibration) I had louder pipes on my VStar, but so far I choose the quieter stock pipes on my VTX 1300.

  • Any other VTX owners found the front end to soft? Mine handled really poorly from the dealer . I finnaly put hevey duty springs in the forks and it made her handle the way I like,it was the best upgrade for the money on the Honda

  • Have a 05 1300 VTX retro with V&H Big Shots sound didn't get rich till I added a hyper charger{mostly for looks any easy breather would do)and had the carb rejetted. Now she has a nice throaty growl. My friends say its just wrong for a Honda to sound that good.

  • pretty cool i have a vtxr 1300 07 model its blue was neat to hear different set of pipes on it

  • Wow great video. Thanks for posting this. I just got a 1300 and the previous owner completely opened up the stock pipes. They are deafening! I really like the sound and look of stock, and my neighbors will appreciate it too. Thanks again for posting this great comparison.

  • maybe ive live in cali too long... riders just dont look right without helmets.

  • Nice video.Very well done.I have a 2007 VTX 1300R w/ Cobra Speedster Longs and I believe they're a great match for the 1300's.The long pipes take the sound out behind you.

  • Yea, cool sound, cool bike...I really love it, but I am not sure if you appreciate that sound after 100km ride. That sound must make you crazy and headache, man. Is not it uncomfortable for long rides? I have VTX too and I am considering new pipes, but I am worried about long rides. Let me know your experience. Thanx

  • The sound goes out the rear. It does not bother my ears. The wind in my face is more a issue but I don't like to ride with a windshield. Can't go wrong with them. Love em!

  • redirxtv - I have 40k on my 96 heritage and have only done basic maintenance and will get the same $10,000 for it when I sell it that I payed for it. Try getting more than 3 grand for a 96 honda-just stop comparing and buy a harley

  • I buy bikes to ride, not to sell. I've ridden both. I can't find a Harley that compares to Honda, or for that matter Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Suzuki. I like to look at Harleys but I prefer to ride Hondas. Just one man's opinion. Don't get your feelings hurt. This was a good video of a good bike. If you don't like the bike, or don't ride a VTX then maybe you shouldn't have responded.

  • No feelings hurt,I made my point, I understand yours but YOU responded to MY comment about this boring vid.Your feelings were obviosly hurt.I am a proud American and a Union man thats why I ride an HD.I also buy bikes to ride , Isn't that the point of owning one, You WILL eventually sell them.and for the record My friend's 05 VTX handles like it has a flat front tire-Thanks for playing

  • Hmmm. If you were any kind of a biker, you wouldn't care what people rode as long as they rode. You like your HD, congratulations. But, if you wanna bring American pride into it, flip over all those HD parts and look at all the made in Japan/China stamps. Harley's a sell out just like so many other American companies. They've got you fooled. Youre right, I did eventually sell my VTX and I bought another VTX. Sorry to hear about your buddy's bike but his is definitely the exception to the rule.

  • I hate to bust open your "american made" bubble, but VTX's are made in the US, by US union workers(Ohio).

Sorry to hear about your friends VTX, but my VTX, and two of my friends VTX's have never had any handling problems. He might have had some kind of front end suspension problem?

Honda/Harley/Yamaha, it doesn't matter. What matters is we're all riding. By the way, a friend of mine has a 1200 sportster he's been thinking about upgrading to a heritage softail, how do you like yours?

  • A proud American and a union man, eh? Well we used to supply HD with their Nippon Seiki speedos. RedirXTV is right. They both have about the same amount of american made parts and they're both assembled in the US. And anyone who pays that much for a bike that old with that many miles is an idiot looking for a nameplate.

  • First off, VTX's do not handle like they have flat tires. Second, you don't really ride. You've got 40k on the ticker on a 12-13 yr old bike. You ride less per year than I ride a month. Get real LOL. Third, even the little 80 c.i. VTX will outperform that 96 Heritage in every category, let alone the 110 c.i. VTX. It would embarass you. Fourth, Harley is only assembled in USA. Your suspension, electricals, and carbs are supplied by ...HONDA. Fifth, VTX are assemled in the US. Ya don't get it.

  • Asshole, instead of trying to fix other peoples bikes and giving out bullshit facts that are mostly your opinions, try repairing bikes on the side like I do.The Heritage was sold to a guy 3 months ago for $12,000 to a guy in Milan,Italy. He paid the freight and everything,so go fuck your mother.I had it sold to 2 other people for 10 k before the italian dude came along.I didnt even own it 4 years and it barely even had 5k on the odo.And honda has NOTHING to do w H-D,get your fucking facts straight,

  • Honda has nothing to do with Harley?

Like I said, you don't know dick. If you repair bikes, then you've clearly seen the SHOWA brand stamped in the fork castings, and you also know that SHOWA makes the rear shocks, as well. SHOWA=HONDA, jackass. You've also seen the "Made in Japan" stamped in the fork slider castings, as well... LOL. Who am I kidding...you've never pulled a fork before. You wouldn't even know where to begin. Take a look at the carb, too...LOL YOU=FAIL

  • You really are a fucking jerkoff who thinks he knows it all like 99% of jap bike riders.Showa is their own brand, asshole. They are NOT owned by honda.Maybe they are made in japan ,I really dont give a fuck. Its not my fault you hate harleys because you cant afford one.I would, however ride a honda if it meant I could see your wortless, thick, empty skull impaled with a showa fork.FUCK YOU piece of shit.

  • Aww, is hims gettin' mad at the mean old Honda rider? LOL. Showa used to be completely owned by Honda. Now Honda just owns a large chunk, and still has their say in company operations. Honda still gets their cut on every HD sold...lol. I don't hate Harleys. I actually like most harleys. I think they build a fine machine nowadays. I just prefer an even better machine. Also, FWIW, I've got more $ in my current scoot than I would have spent on a Harley. Want pics of the build? You still=fail.

  • @pureluck2 Jen has a roadstar lmfao! hahahaha oh my stomach hurts from laughing hahha

  • Anyone that pays 10k for a 96 heritage is nuts. You can buy a new harley for a few grand more. Harleys hold their value a little better, but not the amazing amounts some clueless owners say they do. Look on ebay and cycle trader mags for the proof.

No one buys bikes just to sell, they make crappy investments, they are to have fun and ride.

  • slm, Your 96 heritage is a nice bike for sure, but it ain't worth 10k . Don't kid yourself. Never buy a new bike. There are always people like you who hardly ride with used bikes with LOW miles. Let them eat the depreciation. Buy a used VTX for 6k, ride it 3-4 yrs, sell it for 5. Not too bad.

  • dude are you nuts? you clearly have no sense of bikes. a used VTX for 6 grand ride it for 3-4 years put 15,000 miles if your conservative and still get 5k my ass. please a 96 heritage is worth more than 10k if its in good shape. if the bikes beat to piss than no but if the owner took good care of the bike that bikes worth atleast 10k if not more. a harley depreciates three times slower than a honda and when it does it becomes a collectable and is worth even more try doin that with a honda.

  • Hey, aehernandez, it's obviously you who doesn't know dick about bikes..

A '96 Heritage is NOT worth 10k. Harleys depreciate slower percentage wise, but the amount depreciated is nearly the same.

You think you can't buy a used vtx for 6 grand, ride it for 3 1/2 yrs. and sell it for 5? Jackass. I did JUST THAT. Look at KBB before you make a further jackass out of yourself. See what 5 yr. old VTX 1300's are worth. With metrics, much of the depreciation comes in the first year. You're an idiot.

  • @pureluck2 WHERE THE FUCK IS UR BIKE. TALKING SHIT!

  • @HarleyDavidsonRockz

    LOL, Silly Poser...

Gettin upset? Did I hurt him's feewings?

Still can't find it? Keep looking, sport.

You are a poser of epic proportions.

    watch?v=rLzPLk0rjJ8

  • @pureluck2 Do you know what a loser is? LMFAO!!

  • I agree with the little kid.......awesome

  • If he's like me, He got the Honda because it is a superior bike, mechanically speaking. There are other manufacturers that make better looking bikes, but from the reliability aspect, the VTX is just a great machine. Check the service and maintenance schedule for a new Harley and compare it to a new Honda.

  • sorry but you could have drilled holes in the baffels and saved you a lot of money

  • No, it would have sounded tinny and cheap. baffle mods with a drill are a pathetic poor mans mod. It sounds terrible. The owner of this vid does need to rejet though.

  • well ya it is cheap thats why we do it cause we cant afford new pipes we drill them so they are louder so people dont hit you its for safty not for anything else

  • LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!

  • Loud pipes get you a ticket. Try a loud horn. I put a stebel horn on my VTX.

  • not if they are legal loud pipes :)

  • I live in maine. The only "legal" loud pipes are the stockers. I've heard of nothing but issues with guys that have put after markets on. Wish I lived where you do.

  • Sorry man, but drilled stockers look and sound like crap. No offense or nothin, but if you thought that they sounded good you wouldn't be checkin out youtube for exhaust vids...jus sayin

  • @pureluck2 AND UR BIKE SOUNDS LIKE LOL YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A VIDEO OF IT LOSER!

  • I put the Cobra Speedster Longs on my 1300C and the poster, is correct, the video doesn't really do them justice.

I am delighted with the Cobra's - rejetted with a K&N air filter, I think it kicked up the horsepower a bit as well.

  • No rejetting? Without rejetting you will damage the engine. Doesnt matter what they say, I recommend that you take your bike to dynometer that does have a lamda.

  • You really do not have to re-jet the bike unless you change the intake system.

  • No need to rejet with just exhaust unless it was exceptionally lean from the factory. Even then some minor carb tweaking will suffice. No need to rejet unless you swap the airbox.

  • Ok.

  • I've definately heard much worse sounding stock exhaust in my time. That particular config. , the vtx 1300 with the speed longs is definately a match. I like 'em both. Depends on the rider I'd say.

  • The sound on the computer is a little decieving. It's much more of a drastic difference in person. The rumble on the stocks is not as loud in person. The video camera and computer kind of make it sound a little louder, but they are great for stockers.

  • hi yeah the stocks sounded better to me more understated but nicer anyway cool bike ive got a honda x4 1300

  • thanks to your video i removed my passenger seat as well changed the look of my vtx 1300 completely thanks for the idea

  • Good for you bros, in my country there is no moto-shop to buy anything for my HONDA VTX 1800-C

I am pretty sadisfited with the stock exhaust I have now (two in one pipe) but I can shure use some changes next season (my VTX is brend new-2007), when I'll be ready I'll contact you if that is not a problem for you?

  • did you ever get around to a rejet? From what i have read, it is important...

  • Dealer installed. They said alot of the 1300s accept aftermarket pipes without rejetting. It runs great. I get a little decel. pop on occasion, usually when it's not quite warmed up yet.

  • Forget about the pipes. I can't believe you went in to change the pipes and came back out and the snow melted.

  • Bike looks great and pipes sound fantastic... Now can you compare some HK's with some Jug huggers...lol

  • I does sound much better with the new pipes. You appeared to make a pretty dramatic transformation yourself. Keep it in the breeze bud.

  • Yeah, very nice bike, I like it. I think it sounded good with the stock pipes but it sounds even better now.

  • Great comparison video!!

  • Hey the stockers sounded pretty good to me.

  • got the V+H big shot's on my 1800c and they sound like a griffon engined spitfire lol! neighbours love me.......................

  • Thanks! I can't decide V&H or Cobra

  • bloody nice bike bloody nice pipes!!

  • Been debating, very helpfull comparison thanks.

  • Good job and pipes sound great.

  • great comparison. loved the new sound, million times better

  • well documented!
