Two of the songs were mixes ... here are the others ... The Whispers - You Are Number 1, Leroy Hutson - I Do, Eddie Kendricks - Body Talk, Donny Hathaway - Love, Love, Love
Dre is just on a whole nother level. The man should be choregraphing for someone as he did R.Kelly - his creativity in dancing is unique. The Haywoods are smooth and display the original style of stepping...But hopefully this year the categories will make it more conducive to the various styles of steppin.
Ive only been steppin for about 3 years. For this contest, I guess it comes down to the rules - each couple had their own style. The first couple was entertaining, but if I were to compete, do I have to do all the tricks to win a prize? I thought the she bounced too much.
As for the second (winning) couple, you are right, her left arm dangling didnt do anything to make the dance look sexy AND they could have showed out a little more. It was a competition...
May be they were the best that day because they knew how to follow the rules! See Dave Maxx's Blog - I agree with his analysis. As far as the walking & steppin, I have seen better at stepper's set. Walking seem to a lost dance art in the last decade. Watch some dancers over about 55 who have walking for decades. Dre may do better in a salsa contest... his stepping does nothing for me. The contest may need a new category: ANYTHING (safe) that makes the crowd scream. Where'd the dance figures?
doesn't matter who won...America's got talent asked for some Chicago steppers to try out...and you know Dre and Margaret will make it on there...truth be told, they'd have a better chance at winning if DRE choreographed a routine for about 5 of the best coupels and wowed the judges like that. But you know they won't come together like that.
and the haywoods place first??? come on now....maybe they disqualified Dre and Margaret because both of her feet came off the floor but...I know the haywoods shouldn't have won....this is why I don't go to these contest....
I stop going awhile ago because NONE of the dancing was worth the admission price! The 1st place follower had dangling right arm through a lot of her stepping... who trained her? But, she was good enough to take the prize! Again, that's why I don't go... and the silly announcer: "let's make some noise" If you like baseball you might like this stuff. Let us do the wave I'm bored as a dance sports fan! Is there any ballroom dancing on t.v.? Finally: the winning couple did DANCE TO-gether smoothly
@123hittoo Wow, the only thing you found wrong with the winning couple was that her arm dangled??And yet you found that necessary to c omment on.Maybe it's us out of towners that keep the WLSC going because Chicago must be tired of seeing it, but it is very new and exciting to plenty of the rest of the country.Certainly better than anything we see on mainstream TV such as Dancing with the stars..and sense the man on the mike started these contest,I think he can say what he wants..
A fair comment but you missed the point: I was responding & commenting on MSTII21 and the contest. *** Note my ending statement: "Finally: the winning couple did DANCE TO-gether smoothly" *** I do believe the announcer only revived the contest. WLSC is trademarked by a radio station... last I checked
Same the man on the mic ask the crowd when the couple in the Red, and Black were dancing, " If you like what you see make some noise. " Well they didn't make any noise.

They only walked well but their stepping/bopping was boring. This couple should not have won 1st place.
