  • i know youve got full hd vids at the moment but how come this isnt hd

    ??

  • I HATE CORDS !!

  • If it were me i would

Get apple to repair the gpu

    buy new gpu

    sell repaired one

  • WILL XFX 6850 1GB DDR5 WORK IN THAT MAC PRO

  • Dude you just earned another subscriber.

  • i woulda takin it to apple when its repaired i woulda just installed the new one

  • U r effing lucky like seriously a bunch of nerds and me would kill for one of these!!!!

  • Awesome video btw! I just have a question! I have 2 mac pro's in my school office, both have the same graphics card, i dnt know what! is there a way i can take the graphics from one and put it in the other one, so it can have 2 graphics card and connect one display only! does that add the memory and speed! or adding a graphics card just helps to add more than 2 screens! thanks a lot!

  • if i payed 1500$ for a mac just to get a gt 130 id shoot myself. my 8600gt is still better then that. Even tho the fans so bad it hits 90c+ sometimes so im also awaiting a house fire..

  • hey i want to start my spider-man web of shadow game so can u help me[ thecreativeone]

please bro tell me what can i do !!!!!

    i need some elder's advise!!!!

  • Could have been the logic board..

  • I had that card too.. burned out in 2 days.. RMA'd it. Still using the 7300GT

  • wow the inside of the mac pro is so beautifully organized

  • hi guys, i've never gotten into mac, but i've read somewhere that u need specific components when you upgrade them for compability issues and stuff. can you or can you not just upgrade the hardware in a mac like in a regular computer? why not in that case?

  • Thanks for posting this man. I'd never cracked open my Mac Pro before I had this video card issue although mine was an ATI. I'd had it for only two years. Anyway, I just assumed I'd be able to swap the thing out and couldn't even get the old card out...That is until I found your tutorial and you showed that bracket with the two screws that had to come out. I had just pulled the one loose and thought I'd be fine. Anyway, A buddy sent me a card to replace it with and I'm back up. Thanks again!

  • I think graphics cards die quicker when you use multiple displays, that's why.If you use them just for gaming they will last a lot longer.

  • Surprised how this is even possible to do on your own without needing apple to solve it.

    or putting warranty on trouble.

  • i dont really like macs but man that case is sexy.

  • i have a radeon HD 4290 its not good for playing games waht other video cards does anyne recommends?

  • Dnt worry bout the spelling.... Do you think what i said is true?

  • oi! the way yr holding that card at 5:20 is a really good way to screw yr graphics card, or any electrical component! lol i appologise if your wearing anti static boots.

  • @FutureClock correct your speling nOOb!!

  • yeah every one knows that Vista suck. You should go with Windows 7 though

  • that looks like a 3850..........

  • @coldfusion214 3850 and 3870 look identical pretty much.

  • @LianellEsorrasilome true dat!

  • Mac and PC fanboys... there are pros and cons to both, can we just accept that?

  • @vangstaz

yeah well it's basicaly a "what you like is what you get"

    flaming is just stupid

  • Sounds like your having a motherboard issue brother.

  • There are no drivers for video cards, OS X gets drivers through OS updates, so no hassle as in Windows granted that your card is has EFI firmware.

Blue Radeon is PC and Mac compatible although firmware could be flashed using certain standard PC video cards which is way less expensive. as for card being old... this comes from fat PC kids who's life consists of constantly souping up their PCs without really knowing much about it.

  • PowerPC always works..You got that right! Still have my PowerMac G5 Duo from 2004..still works like it was built yesterday!

  • he sounds like steve O

  • Lol... I laugh at the comments below, So what if its old? I can play crysis 2 maxed on my native res of 1366x768 how is that old? If you dont own the card dont comment on it...

  • you don't know much about hardware do you.

  • lulz I don't think he knee how old that card is... -.-

  • Hey Dave, i know you had that Dell monitor hooked up to your Powerbook at some point. Ever have screen flicker issues with that monitor when it is set to max resolution? My 1.67GHZ G4 will make my external flicker unless I set it to 1280x1024 and not 1680x1050. Just wondering if you ran into this issue.

  • Great tutorial, thanks

  • It Took A While To Get In! :D

  • you look like steve-o

  • hey man i want to do the same i want to instal a new video card but were dus i get a gable for the power suplay for the card.

it was not in the box.

  • i put the best of everything on a mac pro on the apple webstite and managed to get it up to £18,906.84

    with 64gb of ram

bet thats an insanely fast computer lol

    kind regrads

  • tie a fucking chain to your computer and make it a boat anchor. I cant believe how proprietary apple is. You cant even use an AMD processor emplace of an Intel. You also have to buy specific video cards to make the damn thing work. Plus everything is so damn expensive for a Mac. PC for the win just because of common sense.

  • @budrick3 You're right, but being insulting tends to make people disbelieve your point. Apple will fail, but people like you aren't helping.

  • @budrick3 Yes you can. It's called Hackintosh.

(And heck, I'm planning on building an AMD hackintosh, even though intel stomps them in power, AMD's prices actually make sense. But really, does Sensible prices match Apple's philosophy? Maybe that will explain why they don't use AMD, lol)

  • holy crap the inside of the mac computer is waaaaaaay neater that hp or dell computers

  • LOL riser cards, damn mac sucks so bad, for the price

  • You need a camera man dude.

  • You should of removed the heatsink from the nvidia

  • no too shaby pal

  • Is that a powerbook or a macbook pro? On the left of the desk. I subscribed thanks for the video.

  • I freakin HATE cables. That's one of the reasons i have a laptop. only one cord, power adapter.

  • @Dell0304 No one cares :D

  • @TheTornadoStrikes Um, I care.

  • @Dell0304 exactly you do and we dont :)

  • @TheTornadoStrikes cheese man I'm just commenting, get over it.

  • you said you don't game on your mac pro but then when you were pointing to your hard drives you said so i can put my my games on it

  • You should use the old graphics card in your powermac g4

  • nice

  • So.... if a mac cant use Crossfire or SLI doesn't that pretty much defeat the purpose of having more than one graphics card?

  • so i have an ATI Radeon HD 4250 is that good?

  • @dahtkidandy10 It's the absolute lowest model of 2 generations old graphics card technology :-(

  • any computer will run without video card drivers, because most OS's have a generic driver built in so you can see what you're doing. You just wont have any eyecandy enabled. like aero for windows or quartz for OS X.

  • you did a good job on this video

  • @macisgr8 Thanks!

  • @thecreativeone nice setup brah

  • nice videos , subscribed :)

  • @jeffhardyfan42002 Thank you!

  • Mac pro beautiful design?? I think you mean boring and uninspired.

  • @TheTrafficker85 are u still in the 80's?

  • @lanxpcs in the 80's because I don't like Computers that look like over sized grey cheese graters?

    sure why not.

  • @TheTrafficker85 Design doesn't just mean the looks. It means how things are situated on the inside. How convenient and accessible to ports and expansion. And a lot more. And it's a fucking server so how is it oversized?

  • @SGTBLACK0UT well obviously you didn't get that used the word "oversized" in reference to a cheese grater!? As I was simply pointing out the design from aesthetic point of view is boring to me.

Oh and since when does the size of a system chassis actually mean it’s a server? He seems to be using the machine as a workstation. A server is about the purpose/functionality of the services that runs on a system, not how big the fucking computer is!!

Your comment failed I’m afraid. XD

  • @TheTrafficker85 Servers are big. Workstations/servers are big machines period. Nothing else needs to be said.

  • @SGTBLACK0UT erm...really? so it's just about size then huh? Well why do Apple sell Mac servers that currently run full open directory and workgroup management services on Mac Mini hardware?? they are very small aren't they?

Lol, just give it up, you clearly know jack shit about Workstations or servers.

Ultimately your comments were destined to fail...

  • @TheTrafficker85 The mac pro isn't a server

  • @TheTrafficker85 But there is a server version of it...

  • @vajksziget7a Yes, that is the point I was making. It's not really about the hardware but the function and purpose of the machine and services used by the Operating system.

  • @SGTBLACK0UT I guess by the lack of response you realized you bit off more than you could chew?

Well at least you learnt something new! XD

  • @TheTrafficker85 "I guess by the lack of response you realized you bit off more than you could chew?" No I actually have a life. You know I don't sit on here all day waiting for people to respond to my comments. About your mac mini server comment. The only thing that makes it a server is the OS that's on it, look at PC servers they're big machines, same as the mac pro. And when I say server I don't mean media server which is what the mac mini server is. Have a nice day jerk off.

  • @SGTBLACK0UT A mac mini is a media server? so clearly you don't know what open directory/work group management servers are as these are some of the services that are used on a mac mini server. As for big PC servers what about the many file servers, exchange mail servers that can be found on very low profile 1U rack server hardware?? As I've said before hardware does not define what an actual server is, its the function/role it serves hence the name server. End of lesson shit for brains!

  • @TheTrafficker85 lol It's funny how happy you are to talk about this stuff. You actually WAITED for me to reply to your comment. What a fucking nerd you are. You think you've accomplished something don't you? LMAO

  • @SGTBLACK0UT LOL, You've realized that you can't bullshit someone who actually works in the IT industry so you have to change the subject and try to style it out!! How sad. I'm sure you like to sound intelligent with people who aren't clued up with this stuff but unfortunately you've just exposed yourself as complete retard in the process! Sorry I didn't mean to make you look stupid just though I would School you as you don't really seem to know what you're talking about. XD

  • Mac ftw? ATI ftw

  • You should have gotten the new graphics card taken it out and sold it to recoupe a little of the cost for the new card. Stick it to Mac since everything is really expensive.

  • 00:22 pause it.

  • Nvidia only makes the chipset not the actual card. They give that job off to EVGA, MSI, Elite Group, Asus, Zotac, Galazy, PNY, and Gigabyte. They are the ones who install their own heat sinks or fans on the card and they add their own outside look.

  • Hey david, im looking at getting a better graphics card so that i can run 2011 AutoCad for mac. I have a regular macbook. Do you have any suggestions on what card to get? Thanks

  • @lmckay9898 You can't change the video card on a Macbook.

  • Hey David, how much did the graphics card cost? I'm really looking for a new graphics card because the one I have in my desktop is like dinosaur age!

  • I got 2 ati radeon 5870 to handle 3 32" tv's

  • @gaming1chair Money well spent!

  • You blame nVidia for making a bad GPU.

I would say it is a designflaw by Apple.

Using a passivly cooled GPU in a case like that is risky.

The airflow through the casing is good for the CPUs and the risercards since you have a front fan that blows air through the CPU-heatsinks and the risercards, helped by the rear fan.

Theres a 2nd front fan that supplies airflow to the "compartment" where the videocard and HDD's are.

But it isn't enough. I've seen HDD temps of these machines, and they are HIGH.

  • I have an Nvidia 7300 in a PC that is over 4 years old. I edited lots and lots of video with it.

  • Windows, Windows, Windows!!

  • please someone answer im desperate if i buy any graphics card will it definatly work in my computer. or are there specific requirments that a graphics card needs to be able to work and is there a specific adapter on the motherboard. Why cant i buy any graphics card? Please PM me Thanks

  • @HornyHonkers it depends are you on a mac or PC? what port do you have AGP or PCI or PCIe?

  • Hey there guys just ordered my beast hackintosh from macsrpcs.com a friend of mine ordered from them, ran Final Cut HD and this thing screams ordered the ATi 5770 cause I game. They have the latest hardware and they have support for the new 980X 6-Core...they have really great prices too...

  • Why would you install the drivers from the disc? lol

  • 6:25 "That's wat SHE said" hahahahah

  • mac cant support crossfire? very strange.... and how does that thing vent heat? it looks so weird. what is this alien technology.

  • You spent how much on this system and only have a 512mb video card? Mac people are funny :)

  • Lol, if you're going to upgrade stuff why did you get a Mac :P

  • i've needed a mac for the longest time, and i learned that they have macbook pro's at school for student use! ipads too!! :D

  • Did you still go get a replacement card from apple?

Having a brand new video card lying around can't hurt.

  • HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE FAGGOT

  • @CRuleProductions

    naw boi.

    you are (:

  • @OceanRiverify

    Excuse me?

What do you base that on?

  • @CRuleProductions

    an idiot :)

  • @OceanRiverify

    Well done kid.

You make a lot of sense.

  • @CRuleProductions

    I know right?

  • nice how many gb?

  • <My problem is that I cant remove my graphics card. Removing the screw doesn't work and the card is still stuck...

  • @Kandis93 pull the lever on the right side of the card :p

  • Do you still have the Apple Care plan if you upgrade yourself?

  • you shouldev taken it back, gotten another nvidia card, sold that card, and made some of ur money back....thats what i wouldev done

  • Why didnt you wait a couple of mouth´s and got a radeon 5770?

  • hi there if you had enough cash you could have bought a Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB Toxic

  • @K01000Pro not mac compatible!

  • why buy a 24000$ pc get an alienware

  • @AwwC00L Are you high? Alienware marks their prices up ridiculous amounts, a $2000 Alienware would probably cost a third of that if you put it together yourself.

  • @AwwC00L i think he wants to use final cut pro.

  • can you use this card in a mac g5 im tempted to buy a mac g5

  • chris pirrilo also hates cables, you're more family orientated about it though..

  • hey what is that Dell model monitor you have?

  • Where did you get the nice iSight on your black monitor?

  • Never install drivers from the disk. Just download them from the hardware manufacturer's website. They will be the most up to date.

  • @RandomSammyTV Looks like a dell monitor : /

  • shit dude, that's a gay wallpaper hehe

  • Shower your hair.

  • HD3870 = awsome, LOL, listen, you MAC does not work because its not a PC, get a grip

  • @TheBaconbush

it is a pc its all intel & unix now, people just in denial. it just has a locked OS & firmware.

  • david are you getting the ati radeon 5870 for you're mac pro?

  • @bambinosto YOUR* Mac Pro. But no I would imagine not because he doesn't game on it.

  • and what kind of stuff do you di with your cpu ?

good cpu, but show us some work !

  • plug a fire wire into the macpro and the powerbook and boot the mac pot holding control f to boot it as a external drive then install the software from the power book

  • this is the first one of his videos i saw

  • ive got an imac and dose not have the tower that comes with the mac pro, instead its all in one. am i still able to install this graphics card or are there new ones made specifically for the imac?

  • ay david wats the diffrents between mac and windows (i think thats how u spell it idk) eny ways idk wat to get wats ur opinion ? comment back soon plz

  • Where did you get the power cable for that video card? I haven't seen that kind of cable in any graphics card box. Also, where did you go to find "Mac compatible" graphics card?

  • Hey I'd just like to know. Can you upgrade your Mac Pro with any normal computer component you want? It would make an awesome gaming PC probably if you could use a GTX 480. That'd be sweet!!!

  • @MyRandomReviews You can but u have to flash ur graphics card to make it mac compatible.

  • mac wins ever!

  • why don't you try running both graphics cards?

  • Hey David, at least you can replace your video card easily. The 8800 GS in the 24" iMacs suck. I'm getting my second card in less than a week. My next mac will have ATI. NVidia isnt that great.

  • What is the boot cache?

  • How come your dell display upload first if the Cinema Display is the main display?

  • yep mac is bullshit :)

  • you could put both in at once

  • why the hell wouldnt you just buy an alienware? you can install linux windows or mac os on it, and it comes with better specs and you dont have to replace the whole computer when something breaks

  • what is the laptop named

  • @geogre324 17'' PowerBook G4

  • WAY OVER PRICED !!!!!!!

  • thats macs for ya

  • That's an intense system.

  • @thecreativone actually david the mac pro isn't made out of metal, it's made out of aluminum

  • @TonysTechnology im pretty sure aluminum is a metal, lol. if im wrong then sorry.

  • @TheEricshiz

    LOOOOL xD

  • Hey You Should Have Got The Nvidia Geforce Pny Vertro 9600GSO My Bro Has it And its Really good I have Great Video Quality Goes I Believe its 1080p and it Really Great Search it If you Need a Great Card

  • Yeah! Perfect put your hands on the pci express contacts.

  • hey, where did you order your card from?

  • And people say macs never have problems.

  • @hyperactivecalvino

Macintosh video card support is pathetically embarrassing, topping out Nvidia support at the GT120 card and offering only a single specialized version of the GTX285. In other words, there are a total of 13 higher video cards available for PC owners, with the Mac 285 being a special purchase. Meanwhile, 400-series cards are already out and kicking ass, leaving Apple 2-3 years behind on technology.....as usual.

  • Message me, and I will tell you how to get a free macbook or imac~

  • do you seriously have an earing?

  • ok im getting an imac. I plan to upgrade the graphics card for gaming and editing. Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on an iMac? I dont see any videos on it.

  • @ShotsDesignsHD no you cant upgrade the imacs grafics. the cards are soldered to the logic bord

  • @lfshannu okay thanks for replying. I want the 1200 imac with 500gb of Hardrive memory. Thats no big deal to me because i have an external drive. BUT I use Photoshop and play WoW in my spare time. Can the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M run WoW at high settings with above 35 fps, and let me use Photoshop easily. I may edit here and there too. Please reply. if you need to look at the lowest end on the imacs. the $1200 one is what id like. I just dont have that kind of money, and im sick of windows.

  • where can i find a list of compatible cards?? im wanting to put a nvidia 9800gx2

  • nice vid

  • If I ever become Homosexual or Bisexual I will totally go buy myself a Mac.

  • @MrGigith comment totally uncalled for....WTF does your sexual orientation have to do with owning something?

  • MY 7300 GT has also died 4 times on me but i throwed in 4 raedeon hd 4870s

  • I had a hd4890 and then I had to get another cheap card because it crapped out. I bought an HD5770 and it just does not have the power. I might crossfire them later.

  • you have an awesome head

  • The main display, when you're using the OS, seems to be your Apple Cinema display, so why is it, on bootup, it was the other screen (the Dell) that had the Apple logo?

  • @ben10do64 The boot is set to the first port..

  • lol why is he sideways ??

  • did u just blame the firm who produced the milk instead of the store who bought it without checking the date... ? lol

  • lol, after this video it turns out that you got a 500gb samsung. because i watched that before this vid

  • when I installed my new graphics card on my G5 I dropped the screw all the way to the back, down to the bottom of the computer. I went to trusty home depot and they had some kind of grabbing thing that got it out. Lesson learned LMAO
