@SatounoKumo They would be played on 120 Minutes, a 2 hour program dedicated to College/underground music that aired once a week. MTV was better back then, but 95% of it's music focus was not on Sebadoh-like stuff.

Someone told me people generally stop trying to find new music when they reach their highest level of education. There are plenty of great bands since this - Broken Social Scene, The Black Keys, Blitzen Trapper, Battles - these are just the B's that come to mind. It's out there if you want it.
That being said, Sebadoh/Lou is awesome - The Freed Weed is a freakin' masterpiece, as is Bakesale, and the rest is good too.

They were glorious days, and we would play Bakesale and other records over and over again, without worrying what people would think about us playing stuff over and over again. I was about 22 years old back then, and everything was better than now.

I love a lot of current music, but there's not much raw, "kick-ass" rock anymore. It's all over-produced or too thought out and planned. It's the age of the internet. It's just...weird now. Something about the 2000s kinda screwed music up a bit, lol.
But there's still a LOT of good stuff out there. You just have to look.

Im an Aussie, but in 96,97 lived in Atlanta with my G/F who was at Emory studying film. We used to throw parties every week, and this song, along with old Pavement tunes used to get a mention quite a bit on the stereo.
We often drank at a bar called the Point, in Little 5 points. We lived a 5 minute walk away on Elizabeth street.
She's married now, with two kids and living in NYC. I often wonder what might have been with us. It knots my stomach even now, 15 years later.

Im an Aussie, but in 96,97 lived in Atlanta with my G/F who was at Emory studying film. We used to throw parties every week, and this song, along with old Pavement tunes used to get a mention quite a bit on the stereo.
We often drank at a bar called the Point, in Little 5 points. We lived a 5 minute walk away on Elizabeth street.
She's married now, with two kids and living in NYC. I often wonder what might have been with us. It knots my stomach even now, 15 years later.

sorry, this is not lou. however, i once read that lou liked the sound of "se-bad-oh" and kept repeating it so much that it stuck with him. listen to the last track (showtape '91) on the extra disc of the re-issued "3" album and you'll hear just how much lou loved to say "SE-BAD-OHHH."
