  • UNDER A CLOUD OF HISS...Se - BOH -d'oh....seea'B'doh, SEE BOO DAH, seb' a' doh...three friendly minstrels that aen't that friendly...I miss them...x

  • Music is here, idiots. Just enjoy it.

  • @JBrrou hell yeah!!!!

  • Music can't die

  • Music today isn't dead, but it's been slowly dying for a while...

  • eughh that guy compared seboh and dinosaur jr to the kills.. pbbt!

  • are you kidding me theyre playin in atp with thurston moore scratch acid boredoms low mike watt and more.I WANNA BE THERE

  • i like short dittys. the ramones, gbv and sebadoh really knew how to rock it and not waste my time, at the same place

  • Music is never dead

  • :)

  • Y'know, there won't have another Nirvana or Led Zeppelin. Most of aspiring musicians got stuck into heavy metal, grunge, indie music. Rock music fans are the most boring ones cuz they just feel safe when listening to the classic bands, we don't give support to new bands. Rock is music is dying cuz fans are dying.

  • @buritta89 That's an interesting point... We got to look forward anyway

  • 0:56 :3

  • Is that Bucky O'Hare at 1:16?

  • Amazon gives this music away now for free. I downloaded a sampler and they were on it. Good stuff.

  • like MTV would EVER play this today

  • @PrankZabba The only way that could happen is if all the producers got fired and they replaced them with actually music fans. I swear if I worked at MTV there would be no Jeresy Shore just 120 minutes all day long.

  • Sebadoh kills Dinosaure JR. Thank god J.Maskus is such a dickhead!!!

  • If you are a fan of Sebadoh, you may like my stuff. I play under the moniker of My Morning Radio. You can check out my song Before You Came Home by searching mymorningradio1 for the song.

    Thanks for listening!

    Cheers,

    Brian (AKA) My Morning Radio

  • Quite seriously....probably the best 2 minute pop song EVER written....this one goes out to all those sensitive rocker bitches like me....saw Sebadoh in Eugene a few years ago( with Eric drumming) and they fuckin ROCKED the WOW Hall!!! Way to go Jason and Lou!!!! Great band

  • mtv played sebadoh? WHY did I have to be born in 92 why.

  • @SatounoKumo They would be played on 120 Minutes, a 2 hour program dedicated to College/underground music that aired once a week. MTV was better back then, but 95% of it's music focus was not on Sebadoh-like stuff.

Also, to answer your question, it's because that's when your parents conceived you.

  • So far every single band that i've discovered through Nirvana is fucking amazing cept for the melvins. i just dont connect with the melvins.

  • What is that clip in the video where there seems to be a brawl happening.

  • Someone told me people generally stop trying to find new music when they reach their highest level of education. There are plenty of great bands since this - Broken Social Scene, The Black Keys, Blitzen Trapper, Battles - these are just the B's that come to mind. It's out there if you want it.

That being said, Sebadoh/Lou is awesome - The Freed Weed is a freakin' masterpiece, as is Bakesale, and the rest is good too.

  • @zzmook yup!

  • bob fay did a fine job.

  • This sounds so much like the male equivalent of velocity girl.

    .and that's a compliment

  • Oh look, back when Music TV played music.

  • I love this band! :)

  • nice

  • At work, I often lapse into fantasy and imagine all my favourite music whipped into shape by Dr. Luke!

I mean, I love Lou Barlow's music ever since I heard Sebadoh 3 in a record shop all those years ago.

BUT - listen to Tik Tok or Teenage Dream. Holy CRAP!

Many comments here are vaguely nostalgic about our youth and the music that soundtracked it. let indie rock go; like jazz or skiffle lol

Dr. Luke - I'm begging you man, give Lou a ring. You'll work well together!

  • reminds me of living in a tiny London flat around 1993. They were glorious days, and we would play Bakesale and other records over and over again, without worrying what people would think about us playing stuff over and over again. I was about 22 years old back then, and everything was better than now.

  • Little factoid, Lou Barlou, the band's lead guitarist and singer, has played, and now is currently playing with Dinosaur Jr.

  • It is pretty pathetic with people in their late 30's saying music's been dead since sometime in the nineties. Although this was a time when hit music actually where pretty good, there have been bad music topping the charts at all times. I mean, look at Abba, the hair-metal of the 80's and remember, you guys had fucin Macarena. There are still great new bands, its just you don't have the time anymore to look it up...

  • @damianocunego7 word

  • @damianocunego7 Name one.

  • @paradox95 BETABOY

  • @damianocunego7 Absolutely agree with you, its just todays mainstream music that sucks so hard, there are a lot of good bands out there.

  • @damianocunego7 post rock is in my opinion the best thing alive right now

  • @numstuck I wouldn't really say post-rock is something that's still alive. It kinda hit its prime in the mid-90's through the early oughties, and hasn't really had much interesting coming out of it since, especially not in the form of new bands, which seem to be mostly sort of derivative and formulaic.

Anyway, there's lots of good shit out there. Disappears, EMA, Deerhunter, Fucked Up, Kurt Vile, Male Bonding... anyone who wants new stuff should check all that out, for starters.

  • @damianocunego7 You think they're bad, you ought to listen to people my age whining. (I'm mid 40s).Always banging on about how music isn't as good as in the 70s & 80s. Really? They tend to forget the toss and focus on the few good bands/singers. There is loads of great music out there, if you're prepared to look for it. Rock on, as no one says anymore. Hehe.

  • @damianocunego7 Abba? Only an idiot who knows nothing about music would diss Abba

  • sebadoh's awesome :D

    and highly under appreciated

  • There's kickass music out there. You just have to look for it. Check out Menomena.

  • there are alot of good music out there you just have to look harder so stop your bitchin

  • @MrSuperBigFuzz

Agree totally. Every decade has it's great music and it's garbage. Usually, it is bubbling under the surface and you have to dig a little.

  • for those of you who are too young to know what MTV used to be, this is exhibit A.

    awesome.

  • e eu que tenho saudades de um tempo que eu nem vivi?

  • Music isn’t dead but it sure isn’t the same.

There was something about this moment; maybe our generation finally had a voice. Bands like the Lips, Sebadoh, fIREHOSE, Sonic Youth, DJ, etc, didn’t seem to be in it for the money. They were just a bunch of guys making amazing music and sharing it with the rest of us. A lot of people think why didn’t they ever make it…but they did….they left an impression on a whole generation of people and I’m glad I was there…..

  • @idanko I was there too what rich time in music

  • why is it that on every music video i watch on youtube, people have commented "music have been dead since 19wheneverthiswasreleased", or "i love this artist and i'm only...." Go and make some music yoself, foo.

  • @kentishgooseberries cuz music has been dead since sometime in the 90's

look at rock to rap to even pop music nowadays and it is fuckin awful

    excuse the bad language haha

  • What the hell has happened to music?

  • GEEZ such a great little f$cking song :) Lou and so many others should rule the airwaves by now, if it wasn't for this hellish corporate world !!! $-$-$-$)

  • muy bueno lomejor del mundo

  • 1:00 fuckin' godheadsilo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you must be real old!!! I have loved this song every year since it came out!!! 4 on the all time top 10 list!!

  • i love this song and im only 18

  • great song. sebadoh lost me when they became prematurely middle aged thou.

  • so true

  • It's such friendly sounding music!

  • Sebadoh on MTV???Its joke??? i wanna this times back...:)

  • @CZgrungeCZ: so does everybody else in Italy.

  • Did I see Jeff Tweedy in there?

  • lmfao

  • this is what indie rock is all abot

  • great vid has clips of godheadSilo

  • Back when mtv played music...

  • Can't play this loud enough

  • classic mtv logo and graphics. god i want 90s back

  • I cannot agree more!!!

I get depressed thinking about it!! now i know how old people felt!!

  • @helpinahandgrenade, the first thing i thought when i heard music for polar bears was tht snow patrol had studied lou barlows song writing but were still shite compared to the master! thats why j kicked him out of dinosaur, cos he wrote better tunes!!

  • so fucking awesome.independent music rules !!

  • this is the music that influenced snow patrol i love SP and i love this!

  • are you sure ?

  • yeah,,,, economic rebounds

  • Good Stuff!

  • This takes me back... has anyone else noticed that rock has been a barren desert since about 1993... I miss the days of Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr. Belly, the Pixies....there is no kick ass music anymore :(

  • There's still some - you just have to look high & low. Army of Anyone's record was up there.

I haven't heard a lot lately though. God bless the past.

  • well thankfully many of the great ones from the past are still making music, Dinosaur, Meat Puppets, Mudhoney, etc.

  • A-fuckin-Men... i cannot agree more...

  • Try: Thee Oh Sees, Monotonix, Wild Yaks, Shilpa Ray...many, many more. Rock is alive. It's out there.

  • @ajbram unforutnately today we have the retro shit. copies of joy division etc...

  • @ajbram i dont know man, pop musics always been garbage since the 70s. But to say theres been no good rock for 20 years is kind of upsetting (especially coming from somebody who clearly has good taste in music). How about bands like Hot Snakes, Fugazi, Cursive, Les Savy Fav, Sparta, At the Drive-in, Walkmen, Guided by Voices and countless other bands that have kept real rock alive.....

  • @ajbram Not true. There are some really great bands out there, the problem is there is not a major outlet for it anymore. You just gotta do some digging.

  • @ajbram ummmmm pavement? neutral milk hotel? bardo pond? the flaming lips? i love all the bands you mentioned, but its an insult to all the great bands i mentioned to say that "rock has been a barren desert since about 1993".

  • @ajbram I think with 93 you exaggerating, because ther was a lot of great stuff in the late 90's as well, but i do agree that the music was really 353453 times better and more honest in the 80's/90's.

  • @ajbram Well since rock isn't popular anymore hopefully it going underground will cause like a second coming of great underground bands like in the 80s. Lets face it "indie" isn't rock. Underground is

  • Comment removed

  • @ajbram You idiot..

  • @ajbram there is heaps of kick ass music, the best thing about it is it's almost impossible to find the good stuff and when you do, you're unlikely to find their CD's at your local record shop and they're not going to be playing in your tiny little town anytime soon. that's why its so good these days, it's underground and dirty and raw just as rock and roll should be, none of this mainstream mtv bullshit, just pure ballsy rock music. tldr: rock and roll is not dead it's just hiding.

  • @ajbram You just got old. There's the Kills, there's million other bands that youngsters like as much as you liked Sebadoh and Dino Jr back then. Except they're not on MTV anymore.

  • @sideburnstijger kills sux

  • @sideburnstijger if memory serves they played sebadoh about 4 times on MTV throughout the 90s. All video "premieres" on 120 minutes and that was that. Although, new music rules! Kills aren't my bag though.

  • @americantragedies It's all good. I just made my 2011 top 10 and I'm happy to see there are still artists around that move me enough to write about them. Life is good.

  • the kills aren't young or new-do your homework-I interviewed them 3 years ago.

  • @japan906 3 years or even 5 or 8 are still young in music history. Or maybe you're just one of these people thinking history just covers their own life span....

  • @ajbram People like you piss me off. No Kick ass music anymore? are you fucking kidding me? Try Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Radiohead, Manchester Orchestra

  • @TaylorKingMusic Queens and Radiohead are from the 90's.

  • @biotonk But they're still making "kick ass music" today.

  • @ajbram

I usually hate people that go on and on about how great music was "back then," but I kinda sorta agree.

I love a lot of current music, but there's not much raw, "kick-ass" rock anymore. It's all over-produced or too thought out and planned. It's the age of the internet. It's just...weird now. Something about the 2000s kinda screwed music up a bit, lol.

But there's still a LOT of good stuff out there. You just have to look.

  • @ajbram I couldn't agree with you more. Although, I would put The Breeders on that list WAY before Belly. ;)

  • @ajbram I couldn't agree with you more. Although, I do find good music every now and then. I try not to remain totally static in my music tastes. However, I would put The Breeders on that list WAY before Belly. ;)

  • @ajbram you just have to know where to look

  • @ajbram Amen to that!!!!

  • @ajbram There is some fantastic music out there, you just have to look for it.

  • @ajbram so true

  • @ajbram your not lookin hard enough, but i agree

  • great great song

    incredible band

  • This song reminds me of eastern exposure 3. A skate video that really takes me back

  • Oh that's where I know this song from. Excellent catch. Yes, eastern exposure 3 was great!

  • Me too, and I actually get goose bumps from listening to it.

  • sounds familiar :-) LOVE IT!

  • This was actually on MTV? Pretty amazing if you see what they play now...

  • they play nuthin. 2 hours of shite and 20 hours of unreality shite. every effin day

  • @logwind on 120 minutes - altenative show

  • @logwind

Believe it or not MTV did used to play music videos!

It was a simpler time, it was a happier time.

  • i used to rock this out on thursday nights on WVGS 91.9 FM; georgia southern university college radio about 1994 i guess. bands like this don't come around anymore. the early 90's college rock was a special time for me, real fun, especially if you were a radio dj

  • (y)

  • good call

  • Im an Aussie, but in 96,97 lived in Atlanta with my G/F who was at Emory studying film. We used to throw parties every week, and this song, along with old Pavement tunes used to get a mention quite a bit on the stereo.

We often drank at a bar called the Point, in Little 5 points. We lived a 5 minute walk away on Elizabeth street.

She's married now, with two kids and living in NYC. I often wonder what might have been with us. It knots my stomach even now, 15 years later.

  • Role on my man. I know what you mean. I had my go with it too and now live in the sticks. This sort of stuff tears me up. But, it was still worth it.

  • that was for the Aussie.

  • Easily the best pop song from Sebadoh ever! God this rocks!

  • nice

  • best Sebadoh song!

  • thanks for posting this.

  • This sounds like "the money will roll right in" by Fang

  • um...sort of...

  • The intro at least. I like Sebadoh better.

  • totally-kids must be bummed.

    this was the shit.

rebound was the jam at that time.

i dont believe there is indie rock anymore.

the shit they call indie rock is commercially driven drivel.

but fuck it -those guys still rock

saw dinosaur jr on their reunion tour

they killed it. it was fucking rad.

  • todays bands can screw themselves... I just cant believe someone can call the Kooks indie-rock (I just hate that word)...

    LOU IS THE MAN!!!

  • This is perfect.

  • THIS WAS MY JAM !!!

  • great tune lou barlow the man

  • perfect video!

  • I remember when Mtv actually made a difference in the exposure of music to people...now Mtv is popular culture and is on par with People Magazine and Pier One.

  • eewag - on 120 minutes?

  • They played this on MTV?!

oh, I sometimes I forget they played music once.

  • I wish I would've been alive to remember that :(

  • lou barlow rocks

  • Got to see these guys live a few months ago. Tiny club (half empty, most people didn't know who the hell they even were) and stood right up at the stage. They rocked.

  • eastern exposure was the best. but none of these nerds know what you are talking about.

  • The most perfect two minutes. Ever.

  • EVAR.

  • Lou Barlow

  • Anthem

  • saw them in glasgow 2 days ago was frikking awesome

  • Remember this song in Eastern Exposure? That part was awesome.

  • yes, i remember this song in eastern exposure 3. one of the best videos ive ever seen.

  • Sebadoh are playing Bubble & Scape live in london on may 7th!

  • Damnit! I am gonna be there on the 24th!

  • wow, I'll be in London that night, but I already have tickets for the Ween show, and I wouldn't trade them for anything :P

Would be cool to see Sebadoh too though, I have to say :)

  • I am pretty shore that SEBADOH is a combination of parts of the band members surnames!! I remember reading it somewhere!

  • NO (sebadoh is the name of a demon)

  • I`Ve always wondered what does SEBADOH mean??? Low Barlow, If you read this tell me, pls, where dat hell did you get the name from?? I love Sebadoh, definetely, one of the most rocking band ever!!!

  • sorry, this is not lou. however, i once read that lou liked the sound of "se-bad-oh" and kept repeating it so much that it stuck with him. listen to the last track (showtape '91) on the extra disc of the re-issued "3" album and you'll hear just how much lou loved to say "SE-BAD-OHHH."

  • wow..

  • Tooch82, I´m sorry I took me so long to get back to you, dude. Thanks for responding me. I didn´t know that Lou loved the sound of Se-bad-oh!! Kinda weird?? Isn´t it?? "Se-Bad-Oh". You mean the track that goes like: "descending from Emerson into this life..." Thenk you dude

  • I'll give you a clue: Hüsker Dü

  • I heart Lou

  • These lyrics are classic!

how could Lou Barlow know what i was feelin!

  • this song makes me happy

  • indie music rules
