@bingolol I guess it doesn't have a "scientific" name. If you were going to name it probably Machine rear delt raises or something.
It is actually an exercise that has been adapted to a specific piece of equipment - the Powertec Pec Fly machine. The old pec fly wasn't marketed as a rear delt machine, but people used it so Powertec adapted the machine slightly.
Look on the Powertec web page and you'll see they now have 4 accessories you can add. This combined with a Smith machine and a Bodysolid home gym and a preacher bench and assorted barbells and dumbbells all squeezed into a spare bedroom about 12x14 ft. gives me a good workout. Some poo poo cable machines and claim they're "too easy" Try doing cable bench presses on this baby. A killer. This gives the best overhead tricep extensions. Just stand facing away from machine.
I have this Powertec "shape" system, I think they misnamed it. It can handle up to 500 pounds of free wieghts. It is very smooth and quite and doesn't take up that much space. At the base it is just 76 inches across. The frame at floor level has four legs on each side something like a chair and takes up about 2 feet. The bench is good quality and easily adjusts from decline to almost 90 degrees.
@soundofmetal Once you get to know the machine, you will see that having the uprights closer together opens up many advantages compared with a traditional cable crossover. Plus it takes up a lot less space which is great for the home gym environment

How is this machine? To me it looks too narrow.
