I saw a display @ Best Buy a couple of months ago with 4 LED 3D televisions. The Samsung was the absolute best! I was blown away by the 3D (which I personally like though I know some folks hate it).

The price is a little too rich for me at this point and I may as well wait a year or two to see what comes down the pike; my Samsung LCD will do in the mean time, thank you very much. I've had it since 2009 and really love it.

Are Vizio's, Aquos', Mitsubishi's, LG etc any good? Or should I just opt for the cliche Sony/Samsung/Panasonic? I have a sharp right now and It's not great compared to my mother's Sony.

@gilamate1 i think amoled is not the best choice to tv there is coming laser technology witch is cheaper to make than amoled and gives same contrast levels. led is just intermediate model

well I guess I supersized that #1 spot because I got the Vizio XVT3D474SV which does 3D 47" displays 1.06 BILLION colors (unlike the 16.7 million your HDTV probably does) ALSO has 480hz FULLARRAY LED and 160 zones of LED's working for me!!!

@rocktheworld62 It depends on your preference, if you like Video Games etc, then get a LCD-LED, but if you like movies and sports then Plasma is perfect, but i would highly suggest LCD LED tv, Sony and LG are the two best with Samsung 3rd on LCD-LED.

@rocktheworld62 Yes usually they are Sony is ranked 1st in LCD/LED LG second and Samsung is third. Sony usually has the better picture quality than most brands.

@ajmalthanseen No i am not indian, but i did read the latest Consumer Reports, which is a vary trusted source it was the best Electronics in 2011. This year they said for an LCD-LED experience Sony is no.1 no doubt about it in terms of quality and size, i find it funny how you judge me like a person judges a book by it's cover when you just make up things without using sources. I live in America by the way, watch what you say and be careful before you assume something of that nature.

Now that we are several months into the future, they need to pull this review off YouTube... it's all wrong... the Samsung suffers from severe edge-lite bleeding (flash-lighting) issues which have buyers returning them in droves, the other three have major QC issues, and for their #1 set, the Vizio suffers from a faulty transformer which shuts down the TV after several months of ownership....

Oh well... maybe next time fellas!

@obscuresword I don't know if the led type put out so much heat.I have an old Sony(40W4000)and after some hour it does get a little hot.Just to have no worries after hours of use,I turn it off for 10 min and it cools.In my opinion they could increase the depth of the tv to put some vents.I just don't care.

Do you know the ES series of Sony's Hi-Fi set-up?All made in metal,brushed aluminium front and heavy.I wish they made a model like that.With a bullet proof front panel.100 pounds of weight!!

LCD is the display type (Liquid Crystal Display). Plasma would be the other alternative

LED is the way to light up the display, not how the picture itself is produced.

You gotta give Vizio some credit. Even though started out as sort of an obscure value brand, they're gettin some recognition now and from Brian Cooley of all people! That guy doesn't sugar coat anything and personally I think he gives an honest non biast opinion on everything tech related. If Brian says it's worth your money, he's usually right.

All these tvs are from 2010, it's 2011 btw and the new sets are out. My 55" LG 8500 has atrocious horizontal banding during certain light / blue scenes i.e sky or ocean. I would trade it in a heart beat for a upper end Panasonic plasma.
