@Tzevi89 Yes but it is too hard to stop an awful and powerful noise feedback when you're playing with overdriven sounds. Ampkit's team advices to use LINK in order to beat these terrible noises, and I'm going to trust them soon.
Hey I'm only a half year into guitar, I just bought an iRig, I just wanted to know if hooking up my guitar to it uses up the battery of the guitar at all..And does it actually amplify YOUR guitar and not some fender sound. :)
To answer all of the questions below. Yes both rigs work with just about any iPhone, iPad or iPod device as long as you have your latest updates on it. Amplitude and amp link, as well as just about any other amp simulator for the above devices will work in either rig. There is really very little cross talk or feedback on either rig if you adjust the settings for the input and out values to match your guitar and prefered set ups. Just like a real amp, you have to do a little work to get the tone
I forgit where but i heard that the reason amplitube's needs batteries is so that you have minimal feedback. Idk how but im guessing the batteries help the circuit or something like that..
Thanks much bro. I was reading the reviews on both apps, but it seems like the Peavey will end up being more compatible with any future guitar/amp modeling apps. Thanks again!!
i have a question, if i buy iRig or Ampkit(the wire thing) would the 2apps work with the same wire? cuz it would be pretty stupid to buy 2wires if the 2apps work with one, hope you'll repeat ,
hey broseph, the sole reason for the batteries is that alleviates the feedback problem you experienced with iRig. I forget the exact verbiage but in essence the batteries power a small amp within ampkit. again, that's the gist of it. ampkit's FAQ section details this explicitly
@danieltyack the batteries are exactly to eliminate (or at least reduce) the feedback you said you get with high gain settings, it does it by powering the device and guitar from before they reach the input and thus avoiding tone loss and weird feedback. Also it helps you preserve your iDevice's battery because it powers with the batteries (unlike the iRig which drains your phones battery to work).
Wow, totally lost interest when you didn't even explain why the LiNK is battery powered... 1. Saves your iPods battery. 2. Better sound. Go google that yourself and become enlightened.
@danieltyack You can, but only on the newer MacBooks with a single plug for speaker/microphone. Basically Apple did with the MacBooks what they did for the iPhone/iPad/iPT. Pretty cool, since you can then use the Link in more places. Nice review, btw.
the irig works fine with ampkit idk if most of you are just using headphones or regular small speakers but i use an actual AMP and it works fine even with that high gain it only needs a little volume adjusting and voila no feedback and all the precious gain you need without needing to spend an extra 30$ for another cord
They're BOTH great products, both have their strengths over the other. I will say that the TAOS RECTIFIER amp on Ampkit is sic. Both are awesome, serve my needs, BUT the hardware piece irig WORKS JUST FINE ON AMPKIT.
@ReviewerElectronics I agree. I have Both apps on my ipod touch, and irig works just fine on Ampkit. WHY are these retards insisting that you need to buy that stupid link, which by the way, needs batteries for??? I hear absolutely NO issues when using it with Ampkit.
What??? Peavey has been making 'real' equipment for decades, and their amps in particular are among the best out there. Our bass player wouldn’t use anything else! Having said that IK make some great software, especially Amplitube, but this is about hardware, and while the iRig certainly looks cool, I'd trust Peavey if it came to build quality of hardware. (but hey, I really don't see any need for the potty mouth!)
@ReviewerElectronics - well, you just took away your own credibility by expressing your self so explicitly. I'm pretty sure that Danieltyack is not a f*cker / f*g.
The reason for the AA batteries in the ampkit link is so that it won't use up the iPhones battery life, this is another advantage over the irig which will use your battery life a whole lot faster.
this ampkit sucks , i bought it, waste of money, sounds cheap and crappy, nothing like an amp. dont waste your money. any practice amp will destroy this, besides, whats the point? if youre travelling, or on a trip, and you have room to take your guitar and headphones, surely you have room for a practice amp. this guy saying this unit sounds good is out to lunch, i mean do you really think a free app thats an amp model is going to sound good???
Dude thank you soo much for posting this video. its always good to see the difference between 2 products especially if your insite on the product is to say, hmmm, its just an adapter, i think ill go for any one of them. now i know which one to get. Thanks budds
Thanks for the video. You answered exactly what i was looking for which was if one of the products could handle both software. also liked the comment about the high gain feedback. I was going to go with the irig because it seems more popular but I'm going to take your advice and get the ampkit. Thanks!
@TheFinalChance I think the only issue you would run into is with the os, I would check the apps documentation to see if they will run on your 1st gen iTouch. As far as the iRig and Link are concerned, I'm pretty sure that they are just an input system that will work on any iPhone or iTouch.
thanks now i've decided which 1 i am going to order. but this video made me laugh because u pretty much said the irig is crap and the ampkit link is better
The batteries in the Link also makes the Iphone/ipods battery last a bit longer since the Link runs on the power from the batteries while the iRig runs from the power of your Iphone/Ipod/Ipad.
@exiong25 Yeah I figured they were for something like that. The iRig seemed to have about the same level of interference as the Ampkit Link and both get interference from and iphone signal.
Thx dude, really helped me make a desicion, and by the way, the batteries help the device to eliminate wierd sounds, noise, etc
