Yeah but I mean, are you running Ubuntu as your host OS?
I want run a virtual machine with the desktop effects of Ubuntu and the likes, and not using Windows 7. Any ideas?

I think you dont need VMware Workstation.
VMPlayer is free and run on both OS hosts (XP and Ubuntu)
