We have had the worx for over 2 years now and we are just now having to replace the spool - we do around our mailbox, fence, and house with no problems at all and my husband edges around the driveway. We love our worx trimmer....and both batteries are still holding a charge.
I agree with the comment about the battery. After one season, neither battery would hold a charge. I went out and purchased a gas trimmer. I finally decided the GT sttod for "Got Trash" Don't be sucked into buying this. They make their money by selling you batteries, and lots of them.
My dad bought one came with a battery they ask if he would like to buy an extra battery so he did we were happy at first with it but, after using it for 1 1/2 season both battery die, it would not hold full charge any more.
My battery is dead. They said they would send a new one, and for my inconvienience they would throw in 6 spools absolutely free. Well 3 weeks later I decided to see where it was and it seems theres such a demand for replacement batteries, that they are on back order and not to expect it for another 15 or so business days. By that time the snow will be on the ground. I'm pissed, I liked it when it worked but after reading all the crap other people are saying about their batteries, I don't like it
I HAD TO RETURN MY WORX GT GEDGER THE BATTERY DIED WOULD NOT RECHARGE HAD TO RETURN IT FOR FULL CREDIT DID NOT FUL CREDIT BACK THEY TOOK OFF SHIPPING CHARGES LOOK ON WEB SITE IT SAYS 30 MONEY BACK DOES NOT SAY ANY THING ABOUT THE SHIPPING CHARGES WOULD NOT BE REFUNDED
@RICKYD5532 Almost all of the time companies will not also refund shipping. The reason is that the product being returned isn't a loss for them, because they get the product back and are able to resell it (assuming it's still in fairly good condition, hence the limited guarantee, but if the company also refunded your shipping / handling costs, they would end up losing money. Also, I would be willing to bet that they mention the refund doesn't include s / h, but it's probably in the fine print.
I got one of these 2 months ago,the battery does not last long and takes forever to recharge. You get free cutting string for life ,if you want to pay shipping and handling charges forever.Batteries only available from? You guessed it, Worx! plus shipping and handling forever.See a Pattern Hear?
@wheely132 well i have a 4 stroke cub cadet trimmer so it is pretty easy to start, idles perfect. i have ran into a couple of major problems but runs good now. i would reccomend the trimmer i use. ohh and you dont have to spool the line. you just put line into two holes until you can see them to start come out of th outer hols then you pull both sides of the line at the same time.
I just got mine today, and I canNOT figure out how to put it together!! I am SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!! ~P-L-E-A-S-E~ tell me how to put the wheels & the saftey shield on! I am a 63 year old lady & not very mechanicly inclined. I REALLY NEED this, & I wanted to use it THIS weekend! I need simple, specific instructions. An assembly video would be PRICELESS!!! PLEASE HELP!
The battery on this unit sucks!! One batt. came with it, purchased a second one, after 2 season both of the batteries won't hold a full charge anymore!!
Much better option than that stupid Total Trimmer, Suggestion, If the nicad battery pack dies, the pack itself can be opened and you will find that it contains a bunch of "sub c" batteries, replace them with Nickel metal hydride batteries, you will get far better performance and longevity out of your unit, yes they are a little more expensive, but the bang for your buck is worth it,

Pfft get a decent petrol and it will last 10 times longer, be more powerful and you dont need to recharge half way through cutting.

I think it seem decent enough for soft medium height grass not having to bump
to feed line is sweet its as quiet as a church mouse so u wont wake up neighbors
BUT i have not see it edge usually edging requires solid blade or very rapid moving
trim line to cut through dirt and grass this appears to be just a nice grass trimmer
