@noesomhelst i used to doubt the cs ads too, then I bought a trail hawk. i can tell you it splits no problem. reduced a pile of logs to firewood and the most blows needed to split was 2.
@okoshima but still, it depends on the wood. and with a small axe like that, its hard to get a high enough velocity to split the wood. a longer and heavyer axe is allways easier to split wood with.
@okoshima i do know how to use an axe effectively... i have been splitting logs since i was a little boy to get wood for the fireplace in the winter. you see, i live in norway and the winters are extremely cold. ofcourse, the hawk is probebly sharp and all that, but showing the effect on a pice of 2 by 4 like they did doesnt show me anything. could do that with a simple knife, small axe, big axe, blunt or sharp. a cheap trick for them to sell more, which you fell for. i feel sorry for you
