Coors bought Caffrey's parent company in 2000 and pulled it off the North American market right afterward. So it's been 10 years.

Someone told me you can't even order Caffrey's online here. Of course Coors also owns Killian's. No doubt they were thinking at the time "Why have 2 Irish style beers when we only need 1?". No doubt Coors also wanted to cut down the competition for Killian's. Sadly, those buyouts are pretty rampant throughout the beer industry- SABMillerCoors and Inbev/Anheuser-Busch control about 90% of the beer market here and are pushing for that in Europe.

I was watching a documentary on that called "Beer Wars" a couple weeks ago- maybe you've seen it? If you haven't, you might wanna rent it. It's quite an eye opener.
