St.Kyril-os and St. Methodi-os were Bysantine Monks, not Bulgarians, but they were the ones who invented the Alphabet of the Bulgarians: the Glagolic or Cyrillic alphabet.
In that alphabet you can still see Greek influence like the letter Gamma (Γ) and many words like aerodrome (airport).
Their names mean: The one who uses right methods (methodios) the word method even in English is of Greek origin.
And the one who has a lot of Kyros (Kyrillos) kyros in Greek means the wise one who is worth of respect thats why when you say the word "mister" in Greek you say "Kyrie".

Sorry to correct you mate but you made a mistake there.
St.Kyril-os and St. Methodi-os were Bysantine Monks, not Bulgarians, but they were the ones who invented the Alphabet of the Bulgarians: the Glagolic or Cyrillic alphabet.
In that alphabet you can still see Greek influence like the letter Gamma (Γ) and many words like aerodrome (airport).
Their names mean: The one who uses right methods (methodios) the word method even in English is of Greek origin.

The true about SOLUN(Thessaloniki) is that the city was built in 315 B.C. from MACEDONIAN king KASANDER, and the name became from his women Thessalonika. wake up Pece. There never were any Macedonians since the conquest of the territory by the Romans. The ancient population was absorbed/assimilated by the other Greek tribes. The term Macedonia and Macedonian ceased to exist back then. Modern Vardaskans (FYROMians) are Bulgarian descendants who have nothing in common with the ancient GREEK Macedonians, except for the fact that they live now in that very same territory.

Don't name these historians to me-i know that they used the word "tongue" or even "language", but really meant dialect. It's like the FYROMian dialect. Bulgarian based. Or like the Cyprian dialect is Greek based. If it wasn't a Greek dialect, how come any Greek can understand ancient Macedonian writings and you don't? Go ask an archaeologist-he'll tell you that in order to be able to read ancient Macedonian, you have to learn ancient Greek (FACT).

Agreed. That was an exact historical example of communication between two different Hellenic dialects: the Ionian one and the Dorian one. If you had really studied Hellenic ancient history, you would know that it was a very common and accustomed practice. Even Athenians, Thebeans and Spartans sent between them messengers speaking the other party's dialect. The reason? It was considered a gesture of respect and fair-play in ancient diplomacy.
