Have you been doing any more exploration recently (locally or nationally)? I'd love to go to the Hellfire Club - there are official tours of that place organised by DublinWalks now.
In looking at the video, the residence that is being shown, is in my estimation not where the young ladies who where considered pennitents resided. The Nuns had residence there in rooms on the second and third floor. Where the penitents lived and worked was, in a separate building I believe was knocked down in 1993. I have photos of the outside. It was however very creepy. We were told only that it had been a reformatory in past. we did our own laundry there, quite unaware of the history
me and a few mates live near. . dat place is fucked up. .ders loads of documents left over and unsent letters. .and we seen and heard very strange things. .the showers put the shits up me
Great video. The music blends well with the way you steadily encroach on the grounds. :-)
I had never heard of this place until now- but I don't hail from or live in Dublin. I've been inside the Good Sheperd Convent/Magdalene Laundry in Cork- three times at night. I have photographs and an.. um.. interesting audio recording from one visit.
The western side of the building is more liable to unleashing paranormal activity (if you believe in that, I mean).. Or, at least, more intense unease..
Hey thanks for the comment :) Really interested in the audio u captured! Any chance you can share it with me? These places are allegedly rife with activity! I love the paranormal. I must say , you're very brave going there at night :)
Yeah, I can send my recording to you if you PM your email address. I've edited the recording down to about 9 seconds- otherwise, you'd find yourself wafting through - for the most part - minutes of inconsequential crap!
I went to the convent as part of a group, btw. You'd be daft to venture in there on your own- for various reasons. In many ways, it's much safer to have at least two others with you. Even so, you do get the odd creepy shudder in certain places. :-/
wow, I used to live here. It seems so strange to see the windows knocked out, and the building destroyed the way it is. I live in Canada now.are the buildings knocked down?
@ironboundbanshee, young female, approx 8-13 y/o; had long dark hair when entered, but it was cut short, just after arrival. Justine (sp?), & possibly last name Hodges. She got her hands burned, not clear how, fire or boiling water. Does this mean anything to you, or anybody else who was there? Her burns, blisters, & torture was real.
I was hoping to also film St. Anne's in Kilmacud, however i found out it has since been demolished. High Park convent, hasnt got any nuns in it any more, they're safely tucked away in a retirement home not too far from where this was filmed. it looks like the yownded half of grace park road, given the size of the place!!
No problem Play2Go, I'd like to go back and film the interior (well ill send someone braver than me in) lol. It's an interesting place, but i actually felt so sad there :(
I went back to one of the places I was in [an Industrial School run by nuns] and got a guided tour - by a nun. Lots of changes and fresh paint - but neither could hide the very grim shadows and echoes in the place.
we should never forget what went on in these places.....the place i was in is now a hotel....could not even contemplate staying there.....no more secrets and lies
Couldn't get inside this time sorry. I saw "condemned" wrote and was a bit weary of going in. I will definitely go in next time though :) The convent, is now HQ for some housing association, the laundry is derelict and st Michaels house is also derelict.
I used to work in this building for Respond. I heard/saw some strange things in there.
