I moment, kiedy scena ZAPOŁONĘŁĄ.
Please... I'd like to know what is spoken "po polsko" (in Polish) when that man speaks before the show starts. He's a polish man. I'm talking about the "Poland" CD.

@mutualmonster the album is titled "Poland: The Warsaw Concert". and this is the title track, "Poland" you can get it at Tower Records or any store that has a good new age section
@fireflee111 Just make sure it is the full-length recording from the album... the CD out doesn't have all the material of the original (I still have) LP
Dobry wieczór; Polska Agencja Artystyczna Pakard i Państwowe Przedsiębiorstwo Imprez Artystycznych Impart, zapraszają Państwa na koncert zespołu, będącego współtwórcą gatunku muzyki określanej jako "rock elektroniczny"... Przed Państwem Chris Franke, Johannes Schmoelling i Edgar Froese czyli TANGERINE DREAM!!! :) To byl jedyny wokal podczas koncertu :)
I will never forget this event: Dec. 10th 1983, freezing night in Poland and their music that wormed all of us crowded in TORWAR sport hall in Warsaw.
I bow to you that you were there. I spent not a few cold nights on the Inter German border listening to this album on tape. How fitting that my fav album of the era was a concert in the country that truly ended the Cold War. I think history will remember Poland as the nation screwed by both the West and the East after WWII as the true victor in the Cold War. How fitting that you were given the best TD concert of all times during what must have been truly turbulent times.
I read a review from the show and the people loved this. The cold war was still chilly , the trouble from WW2 still in fresh memory. Some of the music draws a graphic image of war and power imho yet the music goes beyond politics into the soul!
Get the 2 CD set Poland and enjoy this at full quality. I own this and many other TD releases on Vinyl and CD -Vinyl is dramatically powerful as CD quality has not approached analog.
Funny how many prefer analog synths in digital format so much!
what do u mean by cd quality has not approached analog, i feel the same but i cant explain why....i have 4000cd's and i hardly own any vinyl bt as soon as i hear anything on vinyl it just sound more clear, pure, real and yea powerful and dynamic....
@Talaramama CD uses heavy amounts of audio compression that averages sound to an easily quantified number. Vinyl has the ability for a full range of sounds with a standard RIAA frequency 'rolloff' that does limit the sound a bit.
I can hardly enjoy low qualith mp3s and CD is barely acceptable to my ears. Analog synth sounds that are digitized are not quite analog any more!
Digital recording 'samples' small sections and removes audio portions not considered important.
I remember seeing them in an old church in Glasgow Scotland about a year after Phaedra...absolutely mesmerising...it is almost as if they have ESP knowing where to shift musically!!
This is a major contribution to quality music, although the quality is not so good, as mentionned by most of you. But the power of melody, rhythm and atmosphere in this piece are overwhelming. As for Force Majeure, the album they released a few years before this, it contains this majestic piece cloudburst flight, which can lift you up to musical orgasm..
Don't forget Klaus Schulze was part of the team in the beginning, and all those great musicians during the lifecycle of this amazing group.
I can't help feeling that the significance of these performances in Poland had a hugely positive and long lasting effect culturaly and politicaly in the 80s.
My favourite TD album by far!
I wish they would do more like this, but this I admit was very much of its time.
Fantastic!!!!!
Almost like a soundtrack to the ushering out of the grip of the cold war!
Warszawa - Torwar 1983 rok... ciarki mnie przechodzą, kiedy sobie przypomne ten koncert.

I've got the complete TV-broadcasting (30min40s) of this performance as a DivX-File (~505MB). Image and sound quality is definitely better than in this excerpt (although it's a VHS-Rip, too.)

Brilliant. Since 2004, when I first started listening to TD after seeing the film Risky Business (Hyperborea was my first album and still one of my favourites), I've wondered what the Poland concert looked like. Now I know and it's not a disappointment. I just wish I was there! The Schmoelling line-up was my favourite. Schmoelling's solo stuff is excellent too. The new one 'Instant City' is great.
I discovered TD on that album(together with Quichotte),heard it by mistake(by verifying old vinyls from my dad's collection) but now i know it was my destination :)
As far as I know it is not available on DVD. This is a real gift to see it. It must be Polish TV broadcast of their concerts there. The record version is edited a bit shorter and cleaned-up. The "Love on a Real Train" theme has been a fave of mine ever since this album was released.
agreed a friend thought it would be a good idea to give me a copy on minidisk a while back...now (for example) im spending 45 British pounds on the Wavelength soundtrack on Vinyl !!!
Bloody spent so much money on collecting these bastards.
Vinyl is the way forward i think, i just got hold of the first 2 tangerine dream albums on the German label in mint condition. The artwork and notes are just fantastic. lots of my c.ds over ten years old will not play. Plus i think tangerine dream have always had a srong artistic visual element, that is lost on c.ds.
in my opinion this album and ricochet are their best I have most of their albums on CD and even some vinyl I like Tyger too but still the two I mentioned first are my favorites
i didn't know they were recording it on video! would love to see/hear the entire double concert from that day. is it yet another forgotten gem that the Polish TV is hiding in their archive vaults?
Poland - my fave CD by Tandream this week. I just got into them last year and went out and ordered all of their (well, not all 3425 of them) CDs, Im ordering two at a time and I just completed The Virgin Years. I still haven't listen to Logos, White Eagle and Hyperborea yet. They're have been sitting on the shelf...... waiting....for me to put them on :) Not bad for being a fan for less than a year! Thanks for posting this!
I agree, Poland is my favorite CD, I can listen to it over and over. Not long ago I was driving thru the Arizona desert after midnight. It was the most perfect music for it. Made in Poland but it has the mystery of the desert. Love it! Didn't know it was on DVD.

Still have all early vinal, Still have the Poland album I think it is perhaps their best, at least my favorite. Ditto to halcyon days of space music. I hate what tecno has done to it.
Glad to know I m not the only one who loves this album. 70-ties and early 80-ties were the best period of TD music and my youth in Poland. Those years will never return, but thanks to their music, I can recall my wonderful years.

Thx for posting this concert.

Yea, Cyclone rox. But how about next album: Force Majeure and its second song: Cloudburst Flight? Arrghh, those moods made my memories back.

Cyclone is *terrible*! What on *Earth* is going on there? TD were treading water between losing Baumann and deciding what to do next.

that's brilliant - the music is a bit different from the album, if only there was a decent quality video of this concert i'd pay £100 for it

This track is great - It simmers gently and then builds up to a climax just before it ends..a classic.

This is very awesome, and this is my favourite concert.
I like this song very much, but I like Tangent and Horizon a little more.
I would love to see a vid of Tangent.

I took one tiny peek at your TanDream selection and subsribed immediately as they have been my major passion for twenty five years.
