Angryjalapeno, you're almost right -- Gould switched from Steinway to Yamaha in 1981, but at the time he recorded this he was still playing Steinways exclusively. This particular Steinway is unmistakeable. Its action was altered to make it more hair-trigger, and as a result there were a few unfortunate side effects that you can hear if you listen carefully ... reverberation as the hammer bounces back.
gould is aaaalways singing with his playing. and he does - my opinion - the best bach ever...
