Cohen says that he took his first guitar lessons from a flamenco player. The whole story can be heard during his acceptance speech for the Prince of Asturias award.
Wow, that was great. There is a wonderful clarity to that old battered guitar of yours! Lovely clear tones, nice strong bass, and sweetness through the range. I'm not a guitar expert. It just sounds good to me. I'd love to finger pick like that.
I love how worn your guitar is. There's something so appealing about a guitar that has been played so much for so long. Thanks for this. I like your playing.
hey, awesome video and awesome cover im a folk musician and i myself have some leonard cohen covers, along with neil young bob dylan joni mitchell john lennon the eagles and original stuff and more :) if you could check that out that would be awesome. thanks and peace - Josh Sigurdson
No. I don't think so anyway. Using a capo is a personal decision for me and not based on what the original artist does. It's mainly to find a key that suits my voice.
great job . I was at leonards concert this summer ,at 74 years old ,it was the best show I ever seen .period .I got a playlist of your music . thankyou sal
I don't think you're a smartass at all. But you are misinformed about the origin of this song. Suzanne was written in 1966 by Leonard Cohen and recorded by him in 1967. Herman van Veen recorded a Dutch translation version of his song in 1969 on a 7" Polydor single S 1306. The song writing credit on the record label reads as follows. Suzanne (L. Cohen, R. Chrispijn). Rob Chrispijn wrote the Dutch Lyrics.

Right, thanks. I had a hard time believing Herman's version wasn't original, cause he's great :P But alright, thanks for informing me.
You rock the guitar, by the way. 5/5 and keep it up! (Already subscribed)
