Classic Smith & Jones...brilliant! Takes me back to the 80s when I had their TV series on VHS. Those memorable songs stayed with me through 20 years or more! Simply comic geniuses!
Jones: "I'm having a bit of trouble in the old Southern Region."
Smith: "Have you thought about taking the bus?"
(from one of their wonderful 'head to head' sketches)
I'm trying to find out what tune is playing in a sketch I have on cassette tape. This sketch is on my tape followed by a non-talking sketch which sounds like children shouting and a piece of music which sounds like a cross between Jean Michel Jarre and The Pet Shop Boys. This video though, shows Mel and Griff sitting in chairs right at the end of the Stanley Rogers sketch which is different to the episode I have on tape. This same tape also has Mel and Griff talking about orgasms.
I remember pissing myself the 1st time i saw this and sill do everytime i see this, it's a shame that we need youtube to see this talent. Why oh why do tv push out utta crap that isn't fit to lick the boots o smith n jones?
Oh my lord! I used to sit beside a guy in Science at school like 12-14 years ago and he used to always sing that Ghandi song at me! It always stayed w/ me. This is the first time i've heard the original!
Haven't seen this in years but have been singing the Ghandi song, to the great chagrin of my friends, all this time. Now I can prove to them that it's real and that I'm not a complete loon.
same. i remeber back in the day when i used to babysit my lil sis and all my m8s would come round for some reason i got this on vhs and we all used love this clip. still sing the gandi song now n then. great post aint seen it in years
This is by far and away the best s&j skit ever! Nobody beleived it was real when I used to sing this on my fork truck at work now I have shown them and we often sung ammended versions of the ghandhi song picking down an aisle the other day .... Love it to bits thanks fir putting it here

"Your hired."
For some reason, I can clearly picture Coppola actually saying yes to this song for Apocolypse Now.
He probably wouldn't use all the lyrics, but he might place it somewhere in the film.
