There was a time when I stumbled across something VERY disturbing online... something REALLY related to homeland security. I tried calling them. What I got was a recording... "If this is not an immigrant or immigration issue, please hang up." Frankly, I was disgusted. What that told me is that our country is more worried about people of foreign origin than real threats that may already be here. That was when I first lost faith in homeland security. Your story only confirmed what I suspected

I was repeatedly told that the burden of proof was not on them to prove I was planning on working illegally in the states but that the burden of proof was on ME to prove that wasn't my intent.. then when I tried to prove that (the only way I know how) by telling them to call my parents or other people who could have most easily verified what I was saying.. they specifically did not call those people. Hmm.

They reversed their 'innocent until proven guilty thing' when it comes to non-citizens and US 'terror suspects' or illegal immigrants since 911. Habeus Corpus doesn't exist anymore, because of Americans taking their 'freedom' and 'rights' for granted, conned by a palace court media that does nothing but repeat, ad verbatim, the press releases of official government pronouncements.

Freedom is never free, it has to be fought and died for to be gained and defended.

From the sound of it the most I can ever hope for after a long fight is for my travel status to be cleared so that I can save up again and finally travel to America like any other human being from an allied nation who has done nothing wrong. Some costs to be covered would be nice but access is all I really want at this point.

Those were extremely heartfelt videos your friends made and to grayharp, don't feel any guilt in what they did to Dan, I'm pretty sure they already had their mind made up before they even talked to you. Probably some procedure they have to go through to cover their asses.

Its going to be a fight to clear your name, I can't imagine what red tape you have to go through and to Customs your just a name and number, but just lets hope someone with a little sense deals with your case.

I see a tendency in this vids to identify the abusive behaviour Dan suffered with "Abusive America", and that is, probably, a mistake, since "America" dealt with you trough very few Americans (some incompetent, abusive, overpowered "officers" that, quite simply put, did not like you). GWB is not going to hear what you have to say, but MEDIA and subsequent LEGAL ACTIONS (taken personally by you and/or other entities becoming awsare of the problem) should have its effect over those "officers".

I've made an official complaint to the DHS (which it turns out I can do.. despite being told I had no right to..) however since they are so backed up with complaints at Arlington I was informed that my case may take anywhere from 2-3 months to even get read.

Very glad to know that things are being done, the more focused and direct, the better, because, you know, "standard procedures" are usually meant to put the emphasis on the "standard" bit, not in the "procedures" one...

Media are usually both fast, and effective, if properly contacted. Please keep it in mind.

Keep going Dan: get your money and your dignity back (not that in that order), and facilitate the legal punishment of those who took them in the first place.
