Instead of raising the fines, just eliminate the biased statute that allows a disabled driver to be exempt from paying the meter. That would eliminate the abuse problem. They are attacking this problem from the tail instead of the head.
The medical basis for someone's placard is not arguable whether their disability is visible or not. This is determined by a licensed medical practitioner (not a nurse or an intern). I think the fines for violation should be tripled. I know far too many people that allow their placard to be used by their friends and relatives. And if they get caught I think the cardholder should lose their privilege of having a placard forever or at least until a DMV hearing is conducted to establish fault .
Part 2. I got out of the car and knocked on her door, telling her that she couldn't park there (she was straddling both spots). She told me that she was waiting for someone and wasn't going to move. I then told her that she was blocking Michelle's exit from the car and she said she'd only move if Michelle needed to get out. I told her she was breaking the law and I'd get a hold of security. Needless to say, she moved pretty quickly out of there!!!!
My sister Michelle and I were in one of two disabled spots at the mall on Saturday, and another lady was legitimately parked in the other spot. Suddenly another lady in a van pulled up between our cars. At first we gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming that she was disabled and thinking there were three spots so we waited and watched, but she just sat there, not moving ... continued in Part 2 ...
We are becoming a nation of cripples and jacktards. Hell if your a fat ass, druggie, over 40, lazy ass,ect ect you get a placard and a tard cart to ride on. How come you didn see so many cripples in the 50s and 60s? You dont see em in Europe either.
I believe disabled placards should be issued only to those who needs a wheelchair, we need the space on the side to get in our cars or lower the ramp. These abusers enrage me!
Some people suffer from circulatory or breathing disabilites that are not clearly visible, to accuse someone of not being disabled simply because they do not meet a certain criteria is wrong. That is why.
Then why did you do a whole video on how there might be some placard abuse going on? The point of People Behaving Badly is to see people people behaving badly.
This disgusts me when people abuse the system. My uncle had one for his father but he only used it when his dad was with him which is totally different.
i seen that alot in the city, it is everywhere i see people walking fine with it and i seen people who needs a real disable parking space gets taken by a undisabled person. there is also a site that you can report people using the placards illegally but don't think law enforcement will do anything about it.

I have had a disability for 4 years and have never used a placard. The abuse is rampant and disgusting.

Stanley, you didn't prove there was actually any abuse going on. Why not catch some people abusing the placards?

I see a lot of folks with the handicapped placards. Some are walking around just fine. Maybe they're the caregivers -- who knows.
Good video.
