I'm not insulting him or anything, just asking a question: If he's using Tamiya acrylic, why does he use a chemical thinner? I thought acryllic thinned with water?

Tamiya acrylics can be thinned with water or chemical thinners, thinner used in a wash will give a much finer result than water over large flat areas like the decking.

Water tends to try and pool when used as a wash unless you use something like washing up liquid to break the surface tension on the water, but thinner dosnt need this. Just depends what look your going for really

Nope. Windex you need to thin. water don't works good in tamiya colors.

tamiya's acrylic paint can be thinned with some sort of chemicals....like isopropanol

@aryonas I think the desired result was a weathered effect on the deck where it was most probable for the crew to be walking.  Actually worked better than I would had thought.
