@aleksa069 google search for green screen? Or just go to a craft store and buy a couple sheets of bristol (sp?) board if all you need is a small area on the cheap.

@camkerr youu can buy green screens online or for much cheeper go to craft store and buy a lot of green poster board. you can also use blue. if you have proper lighting you could use a tightly stretched sheet. it doesnt have to be green it can be blue

you can use camtasia, even the demo version will do.The still are too burry and I didn't use a full screen.Nice stuff though. I wish I had enough place to move the camera around in my flat. Poor moi .

Is it possible if I only shoot like ymm... lets say 10 second clip where I stand infront of a white wall and hold a A4 paper ( sideways ) in my hands and create a video in it? Cuz I dont have greenscreen / bluescreen and I just wanna test it out with a short clip. If it is, can you reply me how or create a how to video.

Yeah, but make the paper coloured. If you're in front of a white wall and have a white piece of paper, you will remove the wall when you key. I would choose a colour that isn't on your clothes anywhere, isn't on the wall behind you, and stands out.

you'd better using adobe ultra to key oneself out, results are much better than with AE. just my 2 cents, beause in your original video, there's a lot of green spill...

Yeah, there was some spill, but it wasn't that bad. Keylight's spill suppression worked very well once I tweaked it a bit. I've never used Ultra seeing how it is Windows only, is it any good? I do my comp work in Shake now and make my own keyers. I don't know much about Ultra, what advantages are there pulling the key in a separate app?

simply put, it's the best keyer period (fully dedicated). adobe recently bought the company behind this software and renamed it Ultra. it's also to the only app featuring virtual sets with 3D camera tracking, really impressive. check out (in hi-res) the 2 tests i've put on youtube and you'll see the difference. there's also plenty of tutorials available. what it does great is keying moving hair for example or even a glass or water when set right. Then you import in AE and add your effects.

You can't with final cut, you have to use a program that has keyframeable shape masking like After Effects or Shake

no you don't have to use green. you can use any solid color as long as it is complete opposite of any colors in the footage you want to use so that when you key, it takes out only what you don't want.

cam couldnt you have just used the effect "change to color" to make your shirta completely diferent contrasting color instead of masking frame by frame? just a suggestion for your next vid so it will go by smoother.

The problem was that parts of my hands share the same colour as parts of the shirt, so parts of my hands would've changed colour too.

Sure, you could have saved quite a bit of time with a different color shirt, but you didn't necessarily make a poor choice with your shirt color. Key framing a mask or rotoscoping those hands is the same method the artists used on the real HP ads and it's a very important skill to learn and perfect if you want to break in to the FX industry...nice work!

very, very nice, but i don't really like the color correcting. it makes it look like a cheap key. like your greenscreen lighting setup was bad. but again very nice. (and andrew kramer is indeed an after effects god, watched all his tutorials and got almost all the products.)

the best way to have pull out your hand from your shirt, is by first motion tracked your hand and applied the parameters to null object which had to be connected to a hand luma shape that would foolwed perfectly your hand.

You may have to adjust some frames but not frame by frame.

I've just started out using AE and I agree that this dude is showing some pretty straightforward techniques. True, it's cool that he's actually showing the steps he used but I'm pretty sure you could manage to recreate this given the time and equipment used.

You could have motion tracked and then reverse tracked instead of animating yourself. Then you could have gone back and masked, resized, and tweaked the motion track to your liking.

can't you add a tracker to your bezier lines to match your hand movement? im new to after effects but im pretty sure you can in shake.

Well, Green and Blue Screens are used because those colours aren't found in human skin. That means that when you key it, you're more likely to pull a good key from the background. If I was planning on wearing a green shirt for this shoot, then a green screen wouldn't work. A blue screen would've probably worked just as well because the foreground is fairly warm in colour. I would never shoot on white or yellow because highlights would be keyed when you try to pull your key. Make it easy.

I know may seem random but when you upload your vids into after effects are they in a mpeg format before hand ? becoz after effects wnt let me import mpeg?!?

No, I captured my footage in iMovie of all things, it gave me Quicktime .mov files using the Apple Codec.

when u talk about pul a key is it motion track key? or ? i was confused. wouldnt it be easier to just motiontrack ur hands and then assign a null object?

When I say pulling a key, I mean using a keyer to remove the green. The reason I couldn't motion track was because the the hands share similar colours to my shirt and the tracker got confused. I should've just worn a different coloured shirt.
