Hey, I had to have 5 injections too because my toe wouldn't go numb. It was UNBEARABLE! haha. But instant relief when she yanked the nail out!

I had my ingrown infected toenail treated today, and needed toe injections, not sure about you but it was the most painful part for me. Damn they hurt! But like you said, just gotta suck it up - it's all over before you know it!

I had both toenails done today (19 July). The local anaesthetic injection was not painful at all. Just a little scratch. This was probably because the needle was extremely fine.

The anaesthetic agent used was 3% Scandonest 4.4ml and both toes were completely numb within about five minutes.

The whole procedure for both nails took around forty five minutes.

If you are from the U.K. then you will not have to pay for this operation due to our health service.

I have heard a story that some guy lost 2 fingers and couldnt afford to have both re attached so had one and the doctors chucked his other finger in the bin! that was in usa, madness - liek i said , if dont in UK and your on the nhs, the op is free.

@sammysyrett Not sure on this yarn. I don't know of a single doctor in my wonderful US. that would pull such a stunt. Sounds like a tall tale to me.

@thamob100 That's BS, the entire procedure shouldn't cost more than $400 if you don't have a health insurance. And you cannot have an ingrown toenail removed without the numbing shot. The pain would have been unimaginable.

omg the medicine itself is injected into the nervs, this shit burns! It's ment to 'fire' up your nerves to where they cant function properly, therefore they cant recept pain from nothing, this is what the term Numb comes from, but really if its injected fast (mine was) it hurts so freaking bad, the injections themselves are painful too.

yea, its a strange sensation, i did find the injections kinda stingy but could have been worse, could have cut my toes off with a rusty spoon would have hurt more. but onces its done it done and am now much better off for it :)

hey, yea the injections do hurt a bit, but its mainly just stingy and ya kinda feel it go numb and kinda swelling, as you hear i wasent screaming or anything like that lol and i have that bigggg needle phobia and did well,

The operation dosent hurt at all, looks gorey but i honestly didnt feel a thing, i needed 5 injections in total as my circulation is crap so took more to numb it, but my the 3rd injection i couldnt feel the needle, phew! lol

yea, i have crap circulation! so took 2 injections in one toe and 3 in another!! plus i am a needle phobe and alergic to anesthetic! so had a funny turn at first.
