@CatStarxo The Concorde either BA or AF were the same aircraft manufactured by Aerospaciale later AIrBus, the AF (Air France) for my taste was always more roomy and comfortable, I'm sure their pitch on seat was the same but the perception and check inn of BA (British Airways) was always so pompous and stuffy! Air France was mainly fashion, music, show business and jet setters, British was more the corporate, business or boring stiff shirts, older crowd!
@TWTR4EVER I am afraid thats not true the british (BA) concordes were built by BAC at filton,UK only the AF birds were build by Aerospaciale. BA infact had more seat pitch than AF 36 inch VS 38inch on BA. BA always ran a more profitable concorde operation as LHR-JFK has more business traffic than CDG-JFK.
@flyer92ify Dear Sir/Madam I don't know were you get your information but there were only two competitors in the Supersonic Transport Race, Boeing in the USA with the ill fated SST project that never got of the ground and the French / British Aerospaciale join venture. That's why they were the only two airlines to commit to the purchase of the aircraft! Regarding the pitch of seats if it's true what you say BA was less profitable because it had to have less seats. AF is and was better than BA!
@TWTR4EVER If BA were less profitable then why did they manage to run two concorde flights per day to JFK BA1/3 outbound and BA2/4 inbound and run concorde for six months longer than AF stopping finally in Oct 03 compared to AFs may. AF currently better than BA even though they still don't have flat beds in business..... But still everyones entitiled to their own opinions ;)
@flyer92ify Everyone has the right to their own opinion indeed! Now, while BA chose to operate 2 Concorde service a day to JFK, AF chose to operate one while the second operated CDG/DKR/PPT or very profitable charters until the Continental Airlines induced disaster, reason why they pull their fleet three month earlier than BA. I find it a bit disconcerting why you've chosen to come to an AF video clip with your rhetoric, is bit distasteful to the host obviously an AF passenger

Reply to qwertdr: I dare to differ! "Air France Vous Apprecierez Notre Super Service" the attention to personal detail, assistance to the passenger onboard or ground, Air France Concorde service was way superior always!
It's up to everyone's opinion, and everyone tended to lean toweards BA. Several French businessmen hoped to Heathrow in the morning to get BA's service rather than AF's - they found BA to be better.
This is the general consensus - your opinion is valid however.
Reply to qwertdr: It's up to everyone's opinion in deed! Regarding business travelers It doesn't seem logical that Concord Service Passengers will want to waste valuable time (1hr flight, checking time and layovers, possibly the same 3:45hr CDG/JFK )to fly BA. I never flew it on business, only pleasure, most of the people on board were affluent europeans, show business, music & fashion industry, some french business & politics quite a different clientele than the usual BA ultra stuffy crowd!
can you stop lying and saying stuff that doesn't need to be said this is about air france and there Concorde no body ask u about ur opinion so bugger off. and just reminder both company are in the domain of excellence concerning service.
and you seriously i bet you that you don't have a degree because: A. you seams to know nothing B. it my personal experience, Air France service has been absolutely disgraceful. They broke my dad's wheelchair in obvious carelessness while loading it with the luggage, despite clear instructions that it must be treated carefully. This was preamble for months of disputes over blame, upon the threat of lawyers, they backed down, showing they were always to blame.
BA have always been clinical, if not exceptional. Virgin Atlantic on the other hand, are a pleasure to fly with.
dude Air France is literaly and statistically the best airline around they have the most record safe flying and there cabins are much more comfortable then british airways there food it top of the line also there service is unbielievably nice honestly there are truly the best also the french women on there is very beautiful AND TO YOU 1slaggy THEY ACTUALLY DO MAINTAIN THERE PLANES UNLIKE BRITISH AIRWAYS SO SHUT THE FUCK UP if u ever have flown air france you know what i am tlaking about!

2) Also look at this video it tells facts. Notice the seats the AF Concorde use then compare them to the luxury of what was the BA version. No competition end of story.
3) Stop your bravado AF suck end of story
4) BA also suck. Over the last 7 years they too have become a joke

More than the actual travel and the speed, it is a airplane for just rich people. It is just a travel to say "I got so much money that I can thousands of dollars in a Concorde ticket...." I dont know if that plane is in service again or not, but it is noisy, contaminant and very fuel inefficient, without mentioning the astronomic maintenance cost.
Well, the concorde was also opted with a flex fuel engine to also run on mixed fules so it is feil efficient retard!!! and it is one of the best jets designed in terms of structrural integrity like come on! You guys seriously think that the A380 is fuel efficient !!!
Using many different kinds of fuel doesnt mean it is fuel efficient....fuel efficiency comes when the engine is able to travel long distances with reasonable ammount of fuel (called also AUTONOMY), of any kind....the same concept that is applied to cars. BTW, I dont believe in the A380, it is not even in service, so if I have to believe in an airplane, I will pick AN-225 as my favorite..... have a nice one.
well, if u consider the speed of the concorde relative to the antonov in terms of power to weight ratio used, the concorde has a higher ratio than the antonov, thus making it more fuel efficient and thus can make more trips on one tank of gas.
@wtrdogg20 This plane is a marvle of human engeineering. I don't really care who is it for, but people acknowledged it as a marvle and saved money for the tickets. the huge cost per ticket is understanable- to be able to fly twice the speed of sound and arrive a day before you left. it's the closest u can get into a time machine and I am sure everyone here will agree with me.
@yoavcool1 It was, like many other things created by human engineering, way more useful and available for everybody....
BTW, that part for cost saving is totally wrong, because the ticket used to cost more than twice the regular ticket....
Anyway, it was the most amazing commercial airplane....now the world changed and the engineering is pointing to the fuel efficiency, cost reduction and versatility (More passenger per trip).
@wtrdogg20 you are absolutely right. But there is a posibility to produce other engeines for Concorde to be fuel efficiant. Or make other airplanes just like Boeing B-2707 (that wasn't produced commercially). there are a lot of possibilities. I am just sad I can't fly on it anymore. But sometime in the future SST will return.
@yoavcool1 What I said a year ago in my original comment, even though everybody voted negative on it, is not something and made up......It was said by airspace industry specialist!
There are too much fanboys and ignorants commenting and voting based on personal feelings here....
Check the reports and the real info, that plane was unable to comply with current regulations for noise, fuel consumption, contaminant emissions and maintenance cost/cycles.
Why the hell would you want full inflight entertainment on Concorde? This flight was done PURELY to experience flight in Concorde - took off and landed at the same airport.
Watching a movie on such a short flight is pointless, especially when you are there to actually experience the flight.
It wasn't Concorde, it was an object at the airport which make the motor being on fire....sorry my English :) I would pay anything to get one flight with Concorde!
Both BA and AF fleets i.e. the whole fleet, were temporarily grounded while investigations were made. Both airlines put their fleets back into service in November 2001. They both retired in 2003 however due to cost.
I jumped for joy at news of the crash air france flight 447. I love watching the plane sink to its watery grave. I enjoy hearing the passengers screaming for help. The sound of drowning passengers gasping for air is music to my ear. The bottom of atlantic ocean is a awesome place to sleep on. The moment the jet broke up in midair must have been a kodak moment. I'm disappointed that the death toll is so low. A bunch of bodies floating on the atlantic ocean would've been an awesome sight.
The nose is only lowered to help pilots see the runways and taxiways. When it's parked and when it's about to accelerate to cruising speed, it is in the up position.
Also, for low passes, such as air shows, the visor is lowered, but the nose stays up.
That seems to be a complete opposite opinion to, well, most people! There were various people who would make the leg from Paris to London to catch BA's Concorde.
Jesus H Christ on a flaming stick, why the hell do people dub over annoying and intrusive music over such great videos? Nobody is interested in listening to music when watching a video like this!
abdul456 is full of shit..they may have taken school children on a field.but there is no way they are taking you any where but back down the jetway.i hate people who lie on public formats like this.its so stupid and useless..

Interesting footage, but why ruin it with that vulgar music? It sounds like a flying gay bar! I think most people would prefer to hear the sounds of the aircraft and the chatter, not the queer as folk sound track!!
I'd just like to point out that this particular flight would typically cost around the £1500 mark. As it is an experience flight (champagne trip) which does a loop around the Bay of Biscay. The aircraft is quite light as there is no hold luggage and less fuel, thus allowing for the low price.
CDG to CDG you ask? This was an around the bay charter flight, not a transatlantic crossing.

I don't really care who is it for, but people acknowledged it as a marvle and saved money for the tickets. the huge cost per ticket is understanable- to be able to fly twice the speed of sound and arrive a day before you left. it's the closest u can get into a time machine and I am sure everyone here will agree with me.
yoavcool1 7 months ago
@yoavcool1 It was, like many other things created by human engineering, way more useful and available for everybody....
BTW, that part for cost saving is totally wrong, because the ticket used to cost more than twice the regular ticket....
Anyway, it was the most amazing commercial airplane....now the world changed and the engineering is pointing to the fuel efficiency, cost reduction and versatility (More passenger per trip).
wtrdogg20 7 months ago
@wtrdogg20 you are absolutely right. But there is a posibility to produce other engeines for Concorde to be fuel efficiant. Or make other airplanes just like Boeing B-2707 (that wasn't produced commercially). there are a lot of possibilities. I am just sad I can't fly on it anymore. But sometime in the future SST will return.
yoavcool1 6 months ago
@yoavcool1 What I said a year ago in my original comment, even though everybody voted negative on it, is not something and made up......It was said by airspace industry specialist!
There are too much fanboys and ignorants commenting and voting based on personal feelings here....
Check the reports and the real info, that plane was unable to comply with current regulations for noise, fuel consumption, contaminant emissions and maintenance cost/cycles.
Great stuff for its time, but not anymore.

was there tv/music on bord
iloveunitedairliness 2 years ago
Music.
Why the hell would you want full inflight entertainment on Concorde? This flight was done PURELY to experience flight in Concorde - took off and landed at the same airport.
Watching a movie on such a short flight is pointless, especially when you are there to actually experience the flight.
What a silly question.

It wasn't Concorde, it was an object at the airport which make the motor being on fire....sorry my English :) I would pay anything to get one flight with Concorde!

the BA planes should of been let to fly coz BA were making a small profit on it unlike AF

That is a VERY 2D way of looking at it.

megaurface 2 years ago
Both BA and AF fleets i.e. the whole fleet, were temporarily grounded while investigations were made. Both airlines put their fleets back into service in November 2001. They both retired in 2003 however due to cost.

Concorde is a timeless beauty that would amaze travellers in 1979 and in 2009. I envy everyone who's flown on them. Incroyable!

As this was during the period where they were temporarily grounded, they may have been testing it. There is a possibility they were also cleaning it.

why are the shields up? they only do that when they go to .75 mach
picktownfball72 2 years ago
Do you mean why is the nose up when parked?
The nose is only lowered to help pilots see the runways and taxiways. When it's parked and when it's about to accelerate to cruising speed, it is in the up position.
Also, for low passes, such as air shows, the visor is lowered, but the nose stays up.
qwertdr 2 years ago
yeah, but i've seen them parked and their nose and shields are down
picktownfball72 2 years ago
No Concorde ever parked with nose down. It was moved up to prevent it from being damaged.

That seems to be a complete opposite opinion to, well, most people! There were various people who would make the leg from Paris to London to catch BA's Concorde.
But if you like it more, you like it more.

BA had a better product then I know, but now AF has got a much better product, in terms of comfort

goddam well right its cramped inside but for a flight of 3 hrs and change who cares..just keep the dom or krug flowing....

It's not actually 'cramped' as such.
It's however exaggerated quite a lot.
Generally people found it to be okay.

Interesting footage, but why ruin it with that vulgar music? It sounds like a flying gay bar! I think most people would prefer to hear the sounds of the aircraft and the chatter, not the queer as folk sound track!!
ads998 3 years ago
Yes, But the original audio is really bad. For proper Concorde sound I suggest you look at my BA Concorde flights videos.
gordonroxburgh 3 years ago
I'd just like to point out that this particular flight would typically cost around the £1500 mark. As it is an experience flight (champagne trip) which does a loop around the Bay of Biscay. The aircraft is quite light as there is no hold luggage and less fuel, thus allowing for the low price.
qwertdr 3 years ago
It was a lot less than that. Prices to fly around the bay ranged from £600-800 from 2000 onwards.
A full fare trip to New York cost £4000, but as part of a travel agent packs you could do the Concorde sector for about £1400.
It was part of Concorde mystic that is was for the rich and famous, but in reality most people credit cards could stomach a Concorde flight
