@bhasinuscuscable Combined effort. The Red Army alone couldn't defeat the Third Reich. Neither could the US Army. Or the British Army.
It was a joint effort and conglomeration and the victory for the Allies was due to a united armed forces, one individual army would not defeat Hitler.
I don't know about Memel but Denmark should get a mention in part 3. Of course, only 8 were killed in that invasion and the Danes did not fight to the last man.
well, a mention perhaps, but as far as their consequence goes, these two were of fairly little, should denmark not have been invaded then it would have been just like sweden, it was never taken back militarily either, just like the british invasion of iceland, a mention yes, but consequence i think not
I can't help myself, I just don't find Churchill speaking in front of the masses particularily moving. Even though he was without a doubt the man of the hour, he just lacks the charisma to turn people ecstatic imho.
his lack of charisma, iff any, was made up largely due to his focus on substance, he didnt want the people extatic, i find it hard to imagine hitler making a rally in favour of holding out, all of his spoke of quick victory. besides, we are all moved by different things
WW2 has eclipsed many things which were obvious in the 1930s. One of them is the fact that Churchill was generally considered a dead horse on the political scene, after too many mistakes, failures and changes of sides. Betting on him was an act of genius of British democracy.
@bhasinuscuscable u speak a lot of bullshit.
