The corporations don't pay their fair share in taxes. they should be paying atleast 40 percent income tax, and a much larger capital gains tax, since they control a share of government every time they put new and improved products on the shelves, get people to shop in their stores and hire security people many of whom are former law enforcement officers. therefore the corporations should be paying more in taxes to help decrease the national debt
The bailouts are actually being used on lavish parties and orgies. Also, to keep the VIP clubs that big businessmen like to go to in business. Some of it goes to the mob too. Big businessmen need them to keep whacking people in secret. And our taxes are paying for the lavish lifestyle of the rich. Ignorant teabaggers have ignorantly ensured that tax shelters for the wealthy would continue. The business criminals and the stupid people working together or a better America. XD
how does he call this corporate welfare, and agrees about busting unions (which violates federal labour law by the way) and then he defends ceo pay of wallstreet companies who rec'd bailouts..?
The French actually did have representation, only it hadn't been executed for a while (blocked by the king). When it was assembled, the third estate got mad at the system, in which the clergy and nobles could override any proposals of their choosing. It wasn't that they had no representation, it was frustration at the mode of it.
I agree with the rest of your comment, though. A truly unfair distributary system.
"take wealth from the rabble" The assumption is faulty at best. Poor people do not pay that much taxes in US mint com blog trends who-is-paying-taxes ?display=wide. It is true that the people who are responsible for most of us taxes are not represented properly, but those are mostly well off people
Yes, you're right in that the higher classes do pay more taxes in absolute amounts, and most often even in percentage. The problem is that they still aren't paying taxes according to their marginal cost of every dollar taxed.
The marginal cost of $1 for a poor person is X-amount of food. For a rich person $1 less is only felt as one less note to give his/her corporate-stripper (metaphorical).
This is socialistic view, "rich can afford it ". In my personal opinion it is bs argument for a multitude of reasons, but the issue is not if they can afford it(or should do it). The issue is that people who usually bitch about rich people getting tax breaks, do not pay taxes themselves. Moreover when they complain it is usually the "representation" argument. If that is the believe such person should lobby for voting power to be directly proportional to taxes paid, I do not see that happening.
Sorry, I didn't catch anything of your last sentense.. "If that is the believe such person.." ??
So you think the rich (even if they can afford it and should do it) don't need to pay, because the people complaining are hypocritical? Even if they don't pay taxes because they can't afford it?
That turns it into a "you can't complain because you're too poor"-argument.
If somebody complains that "This is Taxation without representation" they should lobby for representation to be directly proportional to amount of tax payed, which will heavily favor wealthy people, because 70% of the tax revenue is paid by them. "tax system is a system to take wealth from the rabble and put it in the hands of the already too well" is a straight lie according to the link I gave you. I did not say rich people should not pay, I said I do not believe they should pay more.
With Fox News' obvious bias for the unconstitutional Iraq war, unconstitutional acts of Bush, unconstitutional Federal Reserve, unconstitutional IRS, unconstitutional bailout of failing banks, it's amazing they allow a respectable American patriot on their team to tell the truth about the Constitution!
Go Judge Napolitano - get the ignorance at Fox News in order!
Let the legality of the bailout be what it may, you're far better off with it than without.
You think you have it rough economically? You can't imagine how much worse it would have been without the bailout.
Keynesian economics may not be a perfect solution, but it keeps us level during slumps. The problem at the moment is that you spent all your money on wars, You bankrupted your country during a good period! You pushed the rise up with spending so you have nothing left to balance off the fall
"better off with ..." I think it is unsubstantiated, since we do not know where much of the money went, nor we know if it had any effect on the economy. For that matter we do not have clear picture of the problem in the first place. With trillions in debt it is absolutely not clear where we are economically. And for the record the wars of last decade were just a last drop, the national debt was accumulating for a while before that.
The money wasn't wasted. If it held up banks, it saved investors from losing money. They can now invest more, and that's what will keep your economy going. It's not like the money just went into some bankers' mattresses. It's circulating in the system. I would've preferred a monitored approach, but it is still useful.
I have an issue with letting it fall to the rich bankers, but even if it simply keeps the economy going, it will benefit the poor to some extent, as they do need jobs.
We know that GM bailout forced several 401K retirement plans to take a loss. We do not know if it did held the banks - there is no information which banks got the money, nor how much they've got. the money did not get into somebody's mattress, I hope, but it is very likely they went to same synthetic derivatives business that got them into trouble in the first place. In short , I repeat, we simply do not know where it went. Saying that it helped is just a wishful thinking.
I didn't say I simply hoped it helped. If it got into circulation, it helped. In the short run, it keeps the system going, even if it is only on the same format that it was in the first place. You should take measures to ensure the alteration of that system though.
As I said: I'd have wished for it to be directed intentionally towards something useful, but if the capitalist market economy is good at something, it is finding ways to get money circulating. Capital, ironically, is what you needed

if McCain had come out against the bailout he probably would have done a lot better, maybe not won but would have done much better for sure.
