Very creditable. Not perfect but it's a live, unedited performance by very young people. I'm impressed and I've been working on this quartet for the last ten months. We're all learners when it comes to the quartet repertoire, even the professionals. Thanks for posting it.
u guys are probably in tune by ur self but as a quartet u guys arent in tune together im not sure but i think the violins are sharp and the cello flat... but what do i kno ><
I'd almost say that no one under the age of 30 should play Brahms, especially his intricate quartets. I once heard a quote by a famous musician (unfortunately I can't remember who): "Young people can't play Brahms. They do not yet understand that life is fundamentally a tragedy."
This quote is a little extreme, but the technical hurdles alone should be ample reason for musicians of this age to pick friendlier pieces. There is a reason why only the most established quartets perform Brahms.
@manofthehoff You are dead wrong... Brahms is an excellent teaching tool for students of advanced caliber. It's amazing what ignorant people will come out and say under the veil of anonymity that youtube provides...
@Neverpiefly I'm a 19-year-old conservatory student training to be a cellist. I have played Brahms and enjoy it a lot, but I can't do it anywhere near the justice it deserves. Although I love the music, I'm sure I need years of experience in order to understand it completely.
Regardless, you have to agree that Brahms is a little advanced for these students.
Just move on and go listen to a computer if you want nothing but perfection. Or one of the world's greatest players. Perhaps we should just be happy that there are people out there, save those who we always call "professionals," who actually enjoy music and playing their instruments enough to do something with it, like playing a string quartet. Stop looking at all of the negative things and focus on the positive. If you find that too difficult, then take your perfection somewhere else.

These people are high. All things considered, it was pretty well done.

The intonation is so bad because of the recording, not because the way they play.
I've noticed that with our own recordings - it's really sad to have your own music distorted like that :(
