I was just wondering, how does one add an lfo to toys like this? I've got a LOT of toys with just pitch bend, so this would be fantastic. And, where do you get them? Do you have to make them. Finding answers on the internet is tough for me. Maybe I don't have good sites... Anyway. Fantastic work!
Thanks! Replace the pitch resistor of your toy with a photocel. Build an led flasher circuit with a variable rate(google for schematic or buy a kit). Add a pot before the led to control the amount of power getting to it(LFO amount). Wrap the led/photocel in black tape to limit light leakage.
Voila! Pitch pulsing madness.
Experiment with different values, photocels and leds for the best results for your toy/flasher circuit.
Yup. But you could always use a toggle switch(on-on) and wire so you can select the original resistor or the photocel. That way it could be played in tune as it was before the mod.
The pitch on mine is wired to the L.F.O. setup, a photocel on the ouside of the case, a pot, body contacts and an output jack for external control.
All I've found on this little guy is a good pitch bend but I like the 50's ufo kida quality it has to it. The dice are just normal dice drilled out to the pot shaft size and hot glued in place.
i have this keyboard too. my childhood...

Lower the pitch, throw in some drums, and you have Dubstep.

Excellent - sounds great. Megcos toys seem to be a pretty bendable bunch. Where did you get the dice knobs? Those are cool.
