I had read alot of blogs about how these cats were abused.. but as a cat owner myself- I see big, bright eyes, tails straight up, etc.. these cats appear to be very very happy to me.

Wow--I loved this video and watched many times getting ideas for my own (100% positively trained!) performing cat. Another comment mentioned searching on "cruelty at the Moscow Cat Circus," and they're right. I found out the cats are "trained" through choking and burning their feet, as verified by their vet. Every female is forced to have a litter, and when cats are no longer needed for the act, they're euthanized. I have no more love for the MCC.

theses cats are obviously in constant anxiaty during the show. Notice how the trainer holds the cats tail when he walk down the thin line - so the knows that if he falls, he will be hanged by his tail (It hurts!)

While I am against circuses in general, I don't feel that a cat circus is hurting the animals, unless of course the animals are obviously being abused. From what I see here, these cats love what they do, and I'm sure they're treated very well for it.

Females in heat are miserable and they'll keep cycling into heat until they are bred. Both females and males are healthier and live longer if they are neutered. You sound like you would too.
i think that the guy should spay and neuter all of the cats, and instede of waiting for the next litter, adopt cats from the russian animal shelter or teach strays becasue every day a lot of cats die becasue no one wants them and he is just waiting for new kittens to teach.
Training a cat is -very- difficult, and has to be done from a really early age. Its about trust and recognition in a way that is nearly impossible to do even with adoption age kittens. Friends of mine run a shelter and having spent a lot of time around newborns (they often get in pregnant strays) the difference between a stray kitten's behavior and one that's been with their owner since birth is -totally- different.

theses cats are obviously in constant anxiaty during the show. Notice how the trainer holds the cats tail when he walk down the thin line - so the knows that if he falls, he will be hanged by his tail (It hurts!)
the same method is applied when the black cat is is walking on his forehands - she supports him by holding a finger to his groin. During the show this is sufficient, but during training - which is a complete secret (I wonder why!) - they would squeeze his balls to encourage him to move

I have trained my cats and doing tricks is the high point of their day!
Besides, I would rather have a hungry cat than a fat cat!

While I am against circuses in general, I don't feel that a cat circus is hurting the animals, unless of course the animals are obviously being abused. From what I see here, these cats love what they do, and I'm sure they're treated very well for it.

dear sfdgrsfgberbesrt, I'm ready to chop off my breasts, I'm less likely to get breast cancer. How many poor unneutered cats are you responsible for? You seem a little too concerned with their sexuality. The males don't make good pets, they are all hormonal and pee everywhere and fight. Females in heat are miserable and they'll keep cycling into heat until they are bred. Both females and males are healthier and live longer if they are neutered. You sound like you would too.

i think that the guy should spay and neuter all of the cats, and instede of waiting for the next litter, adopt cats from the russian animal shelter or teach strays becasue every day a lot of cats die becasue no one wants them and he is just waiting for new kittens to teach.

Cat =/= Dog
Training a cat is -very- difficult, and has to be done from a really early age. Its about trust and recognition in a way that is nearly impossible to do even with adoption age kittens. Friends of mine run a shelter and having spent a lot of time around newborns (they often get in pregnant strays) the difference between a stray kitten's behavior and one that's been with their owner since birth is -totally- different.

That's absolute trust there. The woman trusts the cat will jump on the platform (and not on her head) and the cat trusts that she will catch him when he jumps. You have to spend a LOT of time with an animal to establish that kind of trust
