I don't think anyone would want to come out in the NHL, because all the chirping on the ice is mostly how they're faggots and suck dick so if someone comes out I think that's be other players main attack
@robotface74 If you think that way, you'd be surprised how many people don't accept gays. The world's a hard place. There will always be hatred against gays.
@snukkka I don't think he means publicly like a press conference but coming out to teammates and others that there is more tolerance than you would think based on his experiences with his son.
@snukkka They don't "need" to necessarily. It's about showing young gay men like myself that they can still play the sport they love without fear or discrimination. It wouldn't be a "need" to proclaim their sexuality, but more a "want" to show support for the generations of gay hockey players to follow.
The pendulum has swung too far. It's not about "acceptance" anymore. It's about forced tolerance. All the educational programs in the world isn't going to make a homophobe or gay basher accept the gay lifestyle. people are ignorant because they want to be ignorant. Dislike gays if you wish, but don't hate them. They're deserving of love and acceptance as much as anyone else, but you can't force people to like what they don't want to like. Remember, God loves them too.
Not much should change in the minds of intelligent hockey fans. Looking at it statistically, it's almost certain that there is/was a current or former gay player with his name on the Cup, for instance. The reality is there, it's stupid to deny it.
@origamiburitto You just don't get it. Listen to the man. He had nothing to take back. You little cheap shot may be something you'll wish you never said someday.
i think that stupid that players haven't come out to the media. 8-10% of people are gay, there is nearly 1000 players in the league. there is a lot more gay people in sport than we think.
@TheCrazyJesus it's more interesting to think about the rap game. not one openly gay rapper so its kinda cool to think which one is secretly taking pole
Brian Burke you are a failure. Take your interests out of Toronto. Take your loser sidekick Wilson with you!

Why would anyone need to publicly proclaim their sexual orientation?
