The battery does make the psp 3000 go into service mode but still wont let you downgrade to custom firmware! The secret is that some geek at sony will let out secretly a special code that will make the psp gards down and be able to hack. just like on DVD player during booting, u press a code number with control and it deactivates making the dvd read all region movies instead of region 1 only. same works with psp. just needs to be disenscrypted and WALLA!!! Or may its pure B.S.,it will b hack

good news a guy called brokencodes claims to have finally got into part of the signing code that uses the TA-088v3 Even thought that is a partial code (still a couple of functions missing), it's a GREAT step towards 88v3 no news on 3000 yet

the psp 3000 can be hacked because it doesnt slove the problem of loading custom pre ipl's from the memory stick the 3000 has a pre-ipl code running that detects the custom ipl presented by the magic memory stick and pandoras battery and if the ipl's were some how dumped, the system would go down this has been the main problem for dark alex till this is sloved no magic mem stick also u cant downgrade because the 3000 doesnt support firmware below 4.01
