  • Sensational singing.TY for posting.

Jahrhunderts.

  • I think my heart just grew three sizes...

  • Love her. Thanks for posting this.

  • The band is Villielain from Finland.

  • Wonderful! Thank you :)

  • She is amazing. Yes, she had some pitch issues, but her sound was great, as was her coloratura skill. Her trill was very swift and I liked her piano passages.

  • she is amazing!

  • She sounds off tune sometimes. French Lily pons also did. Sack reaches flagiolet register and it becomes thiner than full voice. I particularly don´t like her sound. She was considered a voice phenomenon in the 30´s, Made several films in Germany during nazi period.

  • She sings those notes in head voice! I can hear her full vocal timbre when she sings the higher notes! If she used whistle register, it would sound just like any other whistle note, sharp and not too powerful! :)

    She was so amazing! :D

  • This woman should be in the Guinness Book of Records! Fabulous, thanks for posting.

  • bravíssimo!

Thanks for posting! I really love Erna and her voice!

  • Wonderful! Thank you so much! A joyous experience.

  • This version was played often on german radio....

  • Didn't Dianna Durban do this once in a movie? Sounds great to me. Thanks for sharing with us. I love it.

  • Замечательный голос, но я предпочитаю Элизабет Шварцкопфф.

    Спасибо.

  • One of the loveliest arias in the operetta repertoire. Always puts me in a festive "New Year " mood. Great voice and singing.

  • Thanks so much for posting these wonderful recordings of past. It is very rare that someone like you have a great taste and really understands the voice, voice quality and sees the difference in current singers who don't know how to sing!!!

  • I am pleased, Ruby...- I am doing here actually only what I like and feel.

    Thanks.

    J.

  • BRAVO JUREK!!

  • Jerzy My Darling,

Thank you for this DELIGHTFUL TREAT from MY favorite New Year's Eve Opera.

    I LOVE IT!

tra la la...tra la la....la la

  • I like your tra la la... - especially to-day !

  • Lovely! Thanks for sharing with us!

  • a joy to listen :)

  • Before the coming of Mado Robin, record collectors looked to Sack for dazzling performances that ended in "super high notes".... and Erna never disappointed. It is because of her extended range that she is better known today than most of her contemporaries who sang the soprano repertoire and ended each aria "the way it was written." Thanks, Jerzy, for posting this gem of yesteryear.

  • The record itself, I will reveal to you with pleasure, is in perfect condition: looks as it has never been played bt a steel needle; which must enhance Erna's highest notes.

    Thank so much, Geo.

    J.

  • @jurek46pink-

Steel needles do not do any harm to old records when used with a reproducer in good shape. WORN steel needles, on the other hand, eat away at a record like a hot knife in butter. (Just wanted to clarify this.)

  • @Jpmadore1

    then...hope you like the music.

I deal mostly with records found "after the years".

And poor state of their shellac grooves indicate for nothing else

but overuse of a steel needle, generally speaking . And this is what made me write here, assessing the state of the present record.

Who cared then of a...."reproducer in a good shape"; let alone use of a needle one time only....-

The records speak about it themselves.

  • I was just listening to Erna Sack earlier this evening. But not Die Fledermaus. This is a delightful recording and listen to her top. Beautiful. Thank you Jerzy.

  • Quite a "new " finding; so full of joy... !

I am pleased that you liked it.

  • Wonderful, thank you

  • Przepiękne
