CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME AN HONEST OPINION?

Freshman year i had alot of problems and had a 3.0 gpa.

Im currently a sophomore with a 3.6 gpa. This second semester i WILL get a 4.0 gpa. I plan on being in honors next year and senior year. I am so motivated to get straight As, and will get them.

If all of this happens, and i have a 4.0-4.5 gpa, do i have a chance for UCLA?

Im currently in a very expensive private/catholic highschool in missouri. So ill be OOS (out of state) I need an opinion! thx

@dudegetsomedeoderant Your GPA and extra curricular activities mean everything to UCLA. Depending on how well rounded you are they may factor in your SAT score. I'd also advise making a great personal statement to submit with your application.

@dudegetsomedeoderant I got in in 2005 with just 2 AP classes. My GPA for my 10th and 11th grade years was barely above a 4.0. I also took the Spanish test on the SAT 2, and got admitted for civil engineering. So yeah, I think you pretty much got a great shot. Your chances might differ depending on the major.

4.0-4.5 is a HUGE gap

make sure you're really dedicated to extracurriculars too (volunteer work, officer positions, etc)

ucla looks at GPA more than anything else; although you could probably say that for most colleges

sometimes people who work really hard don't get accepted

you'll need 99% heart, 1% luck

@BlackHelicopterz for in-state probably around 7-10 grand i think. 15-20 grand for on campus housing and tuition together. out of state is upwards to about 40-50 grand on campus housing. so it's only expensive for out of state and international kids really.
