Whoa, Mini heli.........:15 He started it!!.....:45 here it comes......1:15 here it REALLY comes.....1:25 Any day now........1:50 TAKE-OFF YOU ASSHOLE!!! EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER IS WATCHING!!!! 1:56 (FAIL)
Check out my other video(s) in this series - THIS one is titled "Startup" to give an idea of the entire flight process of the mosquito...I have posted several videos of this mosquito doing flight demonstrations.
Observe the vibration at the end of the tail boom. This is eventually going to cause metal fatigue, and subsequent failure of the tail-boom/tail rotor system. These home-builts are death traps.
That tail boom flex is a catastrophic failure waiting to happen. Looks like a problem with main rotor balance or blade tracking. Hope nobody ever tries to actually fly that thing.
move that tail roter truss closer to hub,or better yet add two more, ie girder it.. put a carrier bearing in the center of the drive shaft, to stop shaft flex [probable balance problem] or rename this video; MAY DAY!, MAY DAY!.... but what do I know about it....... M.I.T.
The simple fact that you ramain throttled up even after it shakes like a dog shitin razor blades tells me you have a death wish. Save yourself some time and put a gun to your head. Get off that piece of shit and leave the building to Hughs, Bell, to name a couple.
So,,,, are they gunna build one that does what real helicopters do, or is flight just a secondary option - cause I could just go and start my lawnmower and sit on it if I wanted to get shaken to bits by unbalanced spinning parts!!!.
simple looking machine ,but the shaking of the tail rotor and the boom MMMMmmm not sure about that.like to see it fly after the tail components have been balanced out
Really nice piece of engineering. For being this simple, maybe there were e really good engineers behind it.
It makes me feel like aviation is more affordable than we imagine. It's a shame that here in Brazil this costs the same as a sport car and that 2 cycle engines are prohibited here even for ultralights.
Nice machine. I dream of learning to fly helicopters one day.
You have to get 2-cycle engines up to operating temp first before going to full throttle otherwise you risk them seizing up and falling out of the sky.
The wiggling comes to a stop once the rotors are up to speed - it actually appeared very smooth with little vibration when it was hovering and flying about - and I was standing right behind it.
It's that open air, out there, nothing in between you and the sky, bugs in your teeth feeling that I am looking for though, and this machine really has that feeling - that it's just you hanging out there in the sky without all of that canopy around you. It's like the difference between driving a sedan and driving a convertible.
You should have seen it in person - It was flexing A LOT up and down - the flexing seemed to stop once the rotors were up to full speed and it smoothed out - I guess thats why they use a carbon fiber tailboom - strength and light weight.
